How pumped is he. I say three month tour will do the job. Then get busy recording. What say you.

et4elliott - March 22, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
As long as he tours Chicago!

At this stage - 3 months is enough. Touring makes money if you sell lots of tickets, but a tour is expensive as well. First time out, smaller venues, 3 months - sounds good. Then back for a sophmore CD because folks are saying this is a really good CD - but are looking to see what he will challenge himself with next.

JMO......

I want to enjoy this one for a while and of course see him on tour. The sooner the better!

I hope he went more of the pop route this time to get airplay and therefore name recognition, then he can throw in more and more of the jazzy sound that I know he loves. Don't get me wrong I like the cd, but I am already to see what is next.

He has to tour as long as it takes for me to get to see him!! Hopefully he will make it to Minnesota on the first go round.

JeannineS - March 23, 2007 05:50 PM (GMT)
Yep I agree a 3 month club tour will definetly suffice! I better save up all my vacation days! lol

Well, according to Elliott's manager, Jeff Rabahn, there's no money in CD sales, even if our boy sells tons; the way to go is gigs, concerts, merchandising. But CDs are a back-up to the whole promotion, i.e. it gives Elliott the legitimacy of an established MEGA STAR.

Saving up for his concert at the Madison Square Garden!

Ok OG it's research time again. I can't believe that there is no money in cd sales. I thought that the tours main purpose was to increase cd sales. Get to work bud. You have your marching orders.

Not exactly the music business... but I know in the restaurant business they just break even on the entree...even if it is top end, such as lobster, steaks, prime rib and so on. Where they make their money is in what they call "and ons"...appetizers, booze, desserts, and even those drinks that you get to keep the glass.

And this holds true whether it is a fine dining establishment, a Red Lobster or even your ma and pa diner. Just a tidbit of info.

So E's manager may be right about the CD's not really being what makes E (and him) the money.

3 months then back to the studio if he is not there all ready! I hope he comes to Jones Beach this summer! Whar a perfect spot for him!

PoorMe - March 23, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but doesn't E get 50% of the income from the cd? He just said himself on an interview that he doesn't have to sell a million or two albums to make money. He even said he didn't care if he sold 10 albums, 10 thousand or 10 million. I think he'll sell about 100 thousand the first week and he'll continue with strong sales if he just gets a little radio play, which seems to be happening already. I think he'll do just fine.

JeannineS - March 23, 2007 08:35 PM (GMT)
Jones Beach would be great!!!

The only way to make money being an artist is really MERCHANDISING MERCHANDISING AND MERCHANDISING!!

Touring is $$$ and it comes straight from the artist they have to pay for everything, it's insane!

As long as he starts and ends his tour in his homestate, I'm good with it! Tidewater area has alot of great venues.

The ethical issue of cloning has taken a most unexpected turn.

Thanks for the insight Veronica.
