Adding up the main chain stores. (from wikipedia data and some googling)
2,257 WalMart Supercenters.
1,074 Walmart Discount Stores
850 Barnes & Noble Stores
1,494 Target Stores
600 Circuit City stores
742 Best Buy Stores
900 Borders Stores
------------------------
Close to 7917+ points of distribution just in US
I give you an extra low estimate of a rough 10 cds average per store for the fist week.
Thats easily 80,000 cds from the distribution in some main franchises and the fact that Elliott is known from A.I and there was some minimal advertisement.
I'm not counting iTunes which is 70% of online sales.
I'm not counting Amazon
I'm not counting smaller franchises.
I'm not counting international sales.
Now imagine if thats the low estimate from a part of the market, what the real sales could be for just the first week!
OOMM, you had too much time on your hands. LOL Exciting numbers to think about, huh? I wonder if we'll ever know the real figures. I just hope he sells lots and gains more respect in the industry!
Another different calculation. Very inaccurate but what the heck. Just for the fun of it.
On a poll that i posted some time ago about how many cds would we all buy in here, 140 people voted, for 499 cds in total.
Thats 3.56 cds average per fan.
28345 Myspace fans bothered to search and add Elliott in their friends list.
I bet the same number of fans are aware that Elliott's album is out now and will go and buy 3.56 cds on average the first week.
Thats around 101,029 cds the first week just from the population of MySpace
