I want to know if anyone here knows anything about the Zen mp3 players. I was looking to buy an I-pod for my son, , but when I went to Target today, the sales clerk told me about the Creative Zen V Plus, Digital AV player.
Question is, can you use I-tunes, Rhapsody, etc., to download music with the Zen?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hello, Gyps :) The Zen plays MP3, WMA, WAV and Audible files--which covers most of the digital download sites, except iTunes (which formats their songs as M4P). The iPod, on the other hand, can play all of those formats, in addition to their own format.
iTunes also has a more vast library of tunes and vids-- everyone, including Microsoft--is just trying to catch up. So, the real question is, would you rather buy a product from a company who's trying to catch up or from one who's blazing the trail?
My daughter has both ipod and Creative, but I think she prefers the Creative coz she doesn't have to convert the songs into mp4 format since it plays wma. I have an ipod but would love to own the Zen V Plus (i like the black and orange-colored one :) ).
Thanks Jon and Nymphadora!
Both have advantages I guess. The Zen offers twice the GB for the same price, but with the Ipod you get more song choices for downloading via I-tunes. Ughhh, what to do lol. My son loves the green/black color of the Creative Zen. Have to research a little more I guess.
Editing to add: I found a great little video on Cnet that compares the features of both of these gems. This is good info for anyone considering a player:

I should have gotten a Zen :( I have the 30GB iPod but it took about 13 hours to transfer all of my songs onto my iPod.
