Title: Sold Out
imthesame - April 1, 2007 01:17 AM (GMT)
I shopped on Amazon and at local stores last weekend. I've been reading posts about people finding that Elliott's CD is sold out. I went to numerous places (Targets and Barnes and Nobles) in Columbus, OH and all were sold out. What should we do? Is this good news or bad? Maybe Elliott and his team should help us know what to do next. I know that only a certain amount was shipped, but do more need to be made. I know I can still download and stuff, but I am uncomfortable thinking that many potential buyers are coming up empty handed. Do we talk to store managers - I don't know what to do - I assume they didn't expect to sell this many - what were they thinking?! I know that variations of this question have already been asked, but I feel like I need professional advise. I know I already need professional counseling but that's another matter. I will order some more from Amazon in the meantime.

Imthesame, you're cracking me up! :rotfl:
I saw a pretty good number of E cd's in my local Target and Best Buy today and they were prominently displayed, unlike the last time I was there. The clerk had told me in Target they were selling like hotcakes (just love that). I'm glad to know he is selling out in so many places. Hopefully it means they will need to ship another 250,000 to meet demand. I'm interested to see how he does in Canada. I think he was the favorite idol there.

Thank you, Musicmovesme. You could feel the vibe of my insecurity and you made me feel better. It's all good - I even think the radio stations are going to start playing Elliott soon - he is just that magnificent!! He'll overcome the "music machine" or whatever he needs to overcome.

Yellin I agree and feel your pain and frustration! It doesn't add up.....250,000 minus 90,000.....where are they????

I think one thing we could do is ASK if they have the cds somewhere. Even if you're not planning on buying one that day you could say something like "My friend was gonna buy this cd, but I can't find it. Do you have it? When will more be available?" That way we are bringing it to their attention that there is a demand if they haven't gotten it through their thick heads yet.

What really appears to be happening is that the CD's are spread out fairly equally amongst retailers (which the exception of target - maybe they did not order as many and had a weak forecast on this) so the stores that are HOT sellers are the ones running out while other stores where it is not as quickly selling still has them.
So that other 60,000 copies we are wondering about are sitting on shelves in less populated store markets.
Since Targets tracks seem to really be in demand I wish they would make sure that shelf is never empty!
This is such a double edged sword. On the one hand the sell outs are such good news, on the other when an album is this new is when the most people grab it and I am sure there is a good number of buyers that didn't get it as they were sold out and they spent their ten bucks on another CD> A lot of teens would fall in this category as mom or dad gives them enough to buy one, and they will buy a different one in that store if E's shelf was empty and that was their first choice.

I got mine at Target today -- the Target CD has 2 bonus tracks. I HOPE the CD does even better next week!

I'm hoping Target will have them on sale again soon since they obviously sold a whole lot of them. That should bump sales a bit if they did it again in April sometime.

Circuit City was running a sale and I found some there (Elliott's beautiful face was in our Sunday Ad) . I bought 2 and left 5 behind for the next lucky shopper.
