I couldn't find a thread on here analyzing the video. It must be on here some place. I don't know if this is the right section to discuss it.

What does everybody think?

I love the opening and closing beach scenes. I love Elliott's intense eyes.

I think it would have been better if he had tears when he was singing about tears. We all know that he can cry.

The girl was too young. Maybe the model is 20 something, but she looks like a teenager. I didn't feel any chemistry between them.

I guess the following are elements of reality and are in there on purpose? The clasp to his necklace is at the front or side. I want to reach into my screen and turn it around. When the girl turns around, the tag is out in the back of her shirt. I want to reach in and tuck it in. The top view if the sink shows either rust or missing paint. Did anybody notice anything else?

Overall, it tells the story the way I imagined it. Sometimes, I hear a song, imagine the story, then the video tells a different story than the one I imagined.

I'm 44. What do younger or older people think about the video?

I love the video, just like his singing he comes across as very believable and real. I agree though, I think the girl looks too young. Maybe it is because we invision him w/ Jamie, who I think is so beautiful and, imo, has show Elliott the respect he deserves.

I did notice the rust on the sink faucet but didn't notice the necklace clasp. All of these things, I agree, lend to it being real.

Plus, he is just gorgeous in the video.

I love Elliott in his video, his eyes are amazing and he can really tell the story
I like the first scenes the best, and in the apartment.
The girl does look really young,but very pretty. I think it would have been really cool to have Jaime in the video, the chemistry would have been great
All in all, a really good first video

The only thing I can come up with on the chain link fence is that she's put a fence around her, she's just that much unaccessible to him????

I love the video too. I just like to analyze things. Elliott sings with alot of emotion. The girl looks superficial, like she's laughing at Elliott. Maybe that's the point.

I'm not very knowledgeable about music videos. I saw Kat's video. I liked it, but I didn't think the guy who plays her boyfriend was such a good casting either.

My favorite singer before Elliott was Lionel Richie. I loved his song,''Hello''. I remember being very disappointed when I saw the video. It told a different story than the one I imagined when I heard the song. I wasn't disappointed when I saw Elliott's video.

How much input do the singers have in creating the videos? Is there a special person who writes the video? Do the singers have any say in who performs in their videos?

When did entertainers start making music videos? I remember the Monkees had videos of their music on their tv show. That was in the 60's.

My only beef with the video is the girl looking so carefree the whole time. The only time she looks serious is when she comes back to Elliott at the end. With words like "Why can't you look at me? You're still in love with me." we should see the girl look at least a little upset.

I love the video and the girl. I think she is beautiful and petite, just right.

I believe the reason she looks so carefree is she is "Elliott memory." He is remembering the happy, good times with her. This is why he doens't undersatnd why she is gon eand he is missing her and the good times terribly. He loved her smile and the way she looked at him in the past. That is why she is always smiling in the video. She is a memory.

Yeah, that's the way I took it too that he was remembering the happy times together. I think it's a great video and he manages to look like he is going through pure hell missing his love--great acting! I've been voting like crazy hoping to get this out on VH1's top twenty. The song sells itself but this wouldn't hurt. It is a big hit on Youtube. Look at how many views it has there!

Think it's cool also that people have made their own videos using it and his other songs. The song evokes strong emotion in listeners and that is the best kind of song.

I also love the video...and I have to say the model looks a bit teenager-ish...waaaay too young for Elliott. My fave part of the video is when he's walking down the streets, he looks super cute! I also though the chain link fence was a bit weird.

Overall awesome video! I've been so busy with school projects this past week that I've been unable to really devot myself to voting on VH1, but by the end of this week I'll have more free time so I'm excited about voting for the vid!

I think the video is great - not complex, but shows Elliott's emotion and shows he is hot - both objectives of the video. I think that was an important point to be honest - showing that Elliott can be just as hot as the rest of the R&B eye candy out there. As for the younger girl - I think that may be to draw in the younger audience -

I don't think he'd want Jaime in it for purely personal and privacy reasons, but this young girl kind of reminded me of a younger version of Jaime anyway.

I've got a feeling that Elliott could act - his face is very expressive.

How old is the model?

She looks about 19 - but she's probably older - she's dressed to look about 19.

Exactly, she's a memory until the end and then he seems like he doesn't believe it's really her at first. I just loved the video. I agree with Lindaqt's post as well. He was very expressive in this video, you could see the pain. I could definately believe and understand it, when my husband and I broke up, I saw him everywhere.

These are all interesting interpretations. If she's just a memory, maybe she's so young because they broke up when they were young.

I hate to sound stupid, but what is VH1? Is it a website or a tv station?

VH1 is a cable tv station that plays music videos and other music related programs--they have stayed more music focused while MTV went away from it. They have a top 20 countdown every week. This is the countdown we really should focus on getting the video on. In the updates/news section at the top is the pinned voting thread with the link for VH1. KICKITUP (a Richmond Chris fan) at the AI boards was saying we need to get E on there by voting him in as a wildcard. It's easy and you can vote multiple times. Hmmmmm....new project for the Moosak Sistahs perhaps? We should really work to get the video in rotation on there. It would be huge exposure for him with the music audience and the video is hot so that won't hurt his sales.

I dont know if this had already been said but.. thats his actually real life girl friend. Welll Fiance [atleast thats what i read, about the fiance part] but im 99.9% sure that thats his RL girlfriend it looks like her... :) So im betting its actually his girlfriend, also cuz he had also statd that the video was very "cheap", and whats cheaper than an actual girl/boy friend :D not that elliott would have a boyfriend :lol:

ummm..that is NOT his real life g/f in the video...trust me..it is not her...

Where did he state that the video was cheap, I never saw that or heard that from Elliott himself. And like Samimama posted, it's not his real g/f, he had said on a Q94 interview that he let his management pick the girl.

He said it was made pretty cheaply. Shot in one day. I think he meant in relation to how most videos are made. I'm sure E doesn't have a huge budget for doing this stuff when he doesn't have a traditionally recording contract.

I agree -have been voting a lot at VH1 and was disappointed that he did not make the Top 20 last Saturday.. Yellin4yamin started a thread, which scrolls on the bottom, not now though. Perhaps it needs to be bumped up.

VH1 factor in more than the votes when they do the countdown. In addition to voting, it would help if we were to go to Elliott's page on VH1, view the video, click on "feedback" and give some feedback. They also check the buzz on their message board and airplay for the songs. There is nothing we can do about airplay, except request, but we can vote, play the video, give feedback and post on their message board.

I love the video. It has a mesmerizing quality to it. Elliott is quite the actor. I Love the concept and the execution of the video. The small details make the places seem real. Great job by all involved.

My only problem with it was that I also thought that the actress looked too young for Elliott. Too me, she looked around 16 or 17. Looked like jail bait. :rotfl:

i absolutly love the video. The odds and ends that are wrong make it look real. If it was perfect it wouldnt seem real now would it. I mean your lives arent perfect therefore they are real. The girl may look young but i might add, im 20 i was 19 when the idols went to Graceland and people where saying i looked like i was 14/15. So she might look young but shes prolly not. And even if she was 19 thats not that big of an age difference. i mean seriously i would date a guy that old and it would it bother me at. Heck i would date someone older then that.

but IMO, the video is great, i love all the different shots. my fave are the ones on the beach. He looks great and you can feel the pain through him in this video.

i love the video =] especially the part where he turns around and then she's like not there. the only stuff that bugs me is how the beach changes colors, the fence parts, and the part where he points (because it looks just like i dunno cheesy i guess) but overall i loved it and elliott was really hot =]

I tried to start a thread about this last week and it kind of died, but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the video. It gave me chills to watch. Elliott is like a whole new person since he got away from Idol. I definitely think the emotion came through in the video, which, as people have said, was the main objective.
