Title: Some Cd Reactions

imthesame - April 2, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
I've been giving CD's to friends and family so I can take myself out of the mix and just let them hear Elliott for themselves. I may have already posted that a woman at work who had never heard him, said, "that boy is FINE!". My teenage daughter who thinks I'm insane had a 16 year old birthday party and played Elliott's CD in her mix of CD featured at the party (this was an amazing breakthrough). My sister-in-law who said that she was afraid to listen because she'd probably not like it and was afraid she'd have to lie not to hurt my feelings, said, "Wow, I really loved it - I was afraid I wouldn't, but it is really nice". My oldest daughter stopped by today and said, "well, I listened and I get it - I even almost cried (she said as she told me how much she loved it)". The Lord works in mysterious ways - I'm going to help vote and help request, but I'm glad I am patiently and lovingly trying to show the people I love that I want them to experience Elliott because I love them - I want to share the rapture, share the love, share the beauty, share the meaning that comes through Elliott's voice.

I'm glad you're getting good reactions. My family is well aware of my preoccupation with Elliott, so I'm kind of reluctant to push the cd on them. I don't want them to listen just to humor me. I plan on having it on in my car constantly so anyone who rides along with me can benefit by hearing Elliott's beautiful voice. My husband hums along with it when he comes into the room, so I think he approves. I also asked my son for his opinion on some of the songs (just playing snippets for him). He said Wait for You sounded very current. He thinks A Song For You should be released to radio.

The one person I gifted the cd to said she really likes it. Others at work have commented on one song or another as they hear them playing, but nobody has said they're going to run out and buy it yet.

My husband played "A Song for You" for his stepmother, who is a singer and professional violinist. She was blown away by his voice--her first comment was "why can't I sing like that". She was, of course, even more blown away when we told her some of the details of Elliott including the deafness and his general appearance (which certainly runs counter to his voice). She didn't understand how it was possible that he didn't win. Anyway, I'll be making her an Elliott CD with a couple of his live AI performances thrown in just to demonstrate that he sounds as good live, if not better. I definitely think we've got a new fan!

My husband, who was a Kat and Chris Daughtry fan, told me that he didn't think that Elliott would do very well in his music career!!! Well, let me tell you that he has now changed his mind. He has been listening to Elliott's CD every chance that he can get. He has even asked me to burn a copy for his vehicle!!! He can't wait to get his Harley out of storage and play the CD on the stereo so that we can groove while cruising to Elliott's wonderful vocals. He told me that with this CD Elliott has done very nicely for himself!!! I even got him to look at the video and he liked that as well!!! We all knew that he was something right from the begining and now the world will know for sure!!!

I gave my neighbor a copy of the CD. She was one of those I will listen to it types to make her (meaning me) shut up. Well, the other day I asked her what she thought of the CD and she said she liked it. Not knowing if she was just saying this or not I threw out the question "So, what is your favorite song?" She likes Free. So now I know she really did listen to it.

I bought a copy for my aunt's birthday and gifted another cd to my sis.
Neither have given me feedback yet and it's frustrating. The cd is all I play in the car. I sing along while E sings "In Love With You Forever" while gazing lovingly into my hubby's eyes. I think the magic is working on him. :rotfl:

The one thing I have always loved about Elliott is how very precise his diction is. It's amazing that with such a hearing deficit how he enunciates so clearly.
This was never more apparent to me then when he sings "Whiter Shade of Pale".
Sometimes on the original the song lyrics are mumbled but Elliott's diction is amazing here. I casually noted that to hubby before that song came on and within a few bars of Elliott singing- hubby nodded in total agreement. He loved his version.
So I am making baby steps in converting him, I hope.

I gifted the song to 4 people. One was already an Elliott fan - enough said. Another was kind of a fan - she says it is growing on her. Another was a former coworker who is now working in Hurricane Katrina affeected areas with Habitat for Humanity - she just got it this week and says she really loves it. I told her to please spread the word so more people would buy! The last was my son, who actually downloaded it and listened to it (surprising me) and he loved Ellliott's voice - even though he was not enthralled with the music behind it. I think he would fall for future CDs.

I have been an "Elliott" fan since AI and my family has humored me with smiles. My sweet daughter-in-law, however was also a fan so she, my grandaughter, my daughter-in-law's mother and I went to the concert together when the tour came to Richmond. Needless to say that just made us want a CD ASAP. I am SO happy for him that everything seems to be falling into place and also for us of course. Well, to get to my point, my 17 year old grandson, who was one of those who smiled, heard my CD in my car and really liked "One Word". He sent it to a girl he liked, she liked it, and now they are going to the Prom together. What else can I say?
