tulee - April 6, 2007 02:44 PM (GMT)
Elliott's making the rounds of radio stations as he said he would:
I just heard on star 94 that Elliott will be Live for his first studio interview in Atlanta on the Steve and Vicki morning show. It will be on Monday am.
Posting this for any etrainer from Georgia or anyone who wants to enter this contest. I planned to be with my mother in NY for Easter and her birthday and need to stay stay longer. I miss out on everything.
Hope there's a good response to the station. Lots of good writing here, try to enter the contest.

I'm leaving here Monday ARGHH. but if it meant meeting him I could stay another day lol... I'll just fly home. :)
tulee - April 6, 2007 03:05 PM (GMT)
I WANT them to get a large response because they've been hedging about playing his single . I'm going to enter the contest anyway and see what happens.
itslate - April 6, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
Will someone please send me the lucky horse-shoe? I've yet to meet Elliott, although I've tried a few times. I have my whole family trying to come up with something clever to write in.
You know that's twice I've come to Ga, and twice he's been here. Do you think he's stalking me? :rotfl: My MIL says, dream on haahaa.
alienhamster - April 6, 2007 04:08 PM (GMT)
I'll post over to the AI boards. You're right. This needs a good response.
Tulee, did you ever hear back from the music director?
tulee - April 6, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
Try it, itslate. At least you have a family giving you ideas. I have trouble coming up with 10 words or less yet I could easily write a thousand word essay lol. I'm not lucky either.
chloewannabee - April 6, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
Horseshoe's on it's way!!!!Good Luck, I hope it works for you!
georgiafan1 - April 6, 2007 04:13 PM (GMT)
Thanks for posting this. I won't be able to go meet Elliott but it's nice to know that he'll be in Atlanta again. I will definitely listen.
Star94 use to play the heck out of "It's Not Over" by Daughtry. They still play it often. If they play Elliott half as much, he will be Top 40 in no time.
Tom, from the Morning Show, is a huge Elliott fan. I'm surprised that the station has not been playing Elliott's song. Apparently Tom does not have that much pull. lol.
Fans making requests did not work to get Elliott's song played, Hopefully this in-studio visit will get the song in rotation. Tom may have to be sedated.
alienhamster - April 6, 2007 04:24 PM (GMT)
The other odd thing about this station: their music director was one of the first in the country to pick "Wait for You" as a hot pick according to allaccess.com. Then suddenly a couple of weeks ago Elliott wasn't on the list anymore. (The list usually only has about 3-4 songs on it.)
They CLEARLY like him down there, but why won't they add him to rotation?

No, he hasn't responded back. It would be great if you can spread the message over on the idol forum. These are the chances we have to support Elliott's efforts in promotion. It can't be easy doing all this traveling and basically answering the same questions. Fun for us though.

Alright this is for all with a sense of humor. I'd like to take him camping, get good and liquored up with him, have a laugh, put on some old jazz standards, get him in a headlock and give him a noggie and say put a couple of these babies on your next album and with a horn section or I'll come looking for you. LOL. Buble's next cd went from 90 to 3 on Amazon after singing Sinatra on AI. Honestly though if anyone has made a purchase at Amazon and not reviewed the cd. I saw a good one, that it took a few listens to get hooked. Thats a good point and if someone can repeat it to counter the less positive ones it might be a good thing. I still think the choice for cd cover and single were not the best and it would be doing better with a couple different choices there. 500,000 sold and we get an encore for sure and I don't see a problem with that number. Word.
estilrose - April 6, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
We'll get an encore anyway Moody. On an indie label especially, Elliott's numbers are great. Very few artists reach that elusive 500,000 very quickly. We're already closing in on 125,000 and we're just 2 weeks out.
Personally I think Elliott and his team have done a great job so far and I'm leaving the number crunching up to them. I'm very satisfied with the sales so far and with the cd itself. Are there bonus tracks I wish were on the cd, yes. But good grief! I don't expect Elliott to make a cd that is 100% exactly how I want.

I think my post was 90% positive to a cd that is 90% positive. Thats not bad. I get pissed when people give reviews without giving it a chance. I along with other jazz buffs fell in love with that side of E and he didn't deliver for us, but after a few listens I understand the concept. He could still throw us jazz buffs a bone next time.
estilrose - April 6, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
I wasn't attacking you Moody. I just want everyone to sit back and finally enjoy the months of waiting we've done and months of hard work he's done. I don't mean don't request or vote but I just wish we could not sweat the numbers so much. It makes me feel like we're turning into a bunch of mini-Clives "how many units"! LOL!!
I see a Jazz album in the future. I also see a cd of covers. Maybe some blues. Elliott's got it like that. Elvis was a success with different genres and E's voice fits many genres also. The interview from yesterday, he said he was already working on the 2nd cd in his head. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Right on, I like the music. I told a couple of old friends and family members about E when I heard him on Idol. Singing his praises but I don't think I could recommend the cd to them. It's not the music that finds its way into our collective collection so to speak. I know the guy is freakin awesome and he will put out something that speaks to us and it will be the best damn jazz/ blues mix ever. I love even his pop sound. It's hard for me to explain I guess. I love five of the songs. It really is fun poking fun at Clive. We are so pathetic I'm sorry. Ha Ha.
ohioguy45780 - April 6, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)
E's mix will be eclectic; because he can sing anything. I would love a Norah Jones-style jaz album in the future. He is on the correct path by making his first album more "pop" and "current". Music styles for artists can be an evolution.
Moody's lovechild - April 6, 2007 09:31 PM (GMT)
OG , He is under on obligation to do anything other than whats right for number one, and I don't see it as a sellout. I do see it as following a group that knows what will sell. I'm but one voice and I like the Norah Jones reference. Another would be Joss Stone. She is raw soul, someone who met James Brown as a teen and has that Janis Joplin vibe going with a funk band with real instrumentation and not worried if it doesn't sound perfect while perfoming live. Thats what its all about. I endevour to perservere.
estilrose - April 6, 2007 10:35 PM (GMT)
Three great artists IMO. Janis, Norah and to a lesser degree-Joss. I guess though that I'm super eclectic when it comes to music. I'm grabbing Bucky's cd on the 17th and it will be next to my Elliott, Janis, Garth, Loretta, Santana etc.!! I'm all over the place!
Back to the topic of the thread though (lol) I wish I could participate in this meet/greet. I hope to get my chance when he gets to Ohio!
georgiafan1 - April 6, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
Steve and Vikki's show is the morning show. Good luck to everyone who enters. Hope you get to meet Elliott.
Other topic.
Elliott loves a wide variety of music so his CDs will reflect that.
Elliott's phone rang while he was doing a radio interview months ago. His ring tone was "Gimme That" by Chris Brown. Variety is the spice of life.
Elliott should sing the songs that he loves and he loves a lot of different styles of music. If Elliott made an all Jazz CD, I would not be happy. Not a big fan. I like some jazz but a full CD of it would not interest me, yet, I would listen to Elliott's version with an open mind.
Not everyone is going to be happy with every song on a CD. I love all of the songs on Elliott's current CD and I love the bonus songs too, so I lucked out this time.
itslate - April 7, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
I know numbers aren't everything, but he needs to make some impact for anyone wanting to continue signing him. And I like that this CD is reaching many with the different styles... but it still sounds like Elliott to me, and it will never lose that soulful sound in his voice no matter what he sings. I think he's shown he's a good investment :). Heck I'd invest if I had the money.
tulee - April 7, 2007 07:19 PM (GMT)
This topic sure went off on a different tangent. That's cool :glomp:
Don't forget to check this out if you are anywhere in or around Atlanta. You still have time to enter the contest.
alienhamster - April 9, 2007 05:58 AM (GMT)
BUMP--morning folks! Remember that Elliott is supposed to be on the morning show in Atlanta today. I'll be too unconscious to listen in, so I hope some of you can update us on how it goes.
Also, let's please have some people call in afterward and request "Wait for you" be added to the playlist.
kagey - April 9, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
Steve just said that Elliott is comin up soon. Will do a live performance in the studio. You can listen to it live - Stream from opening post.

I turned it on late , missed the beginning of the interview altogether, but he has his guitarist with him and sang 2 songs. Did anyone hear it?
harleywoman - April 9, 2007 12:25 PM (GMT)
Darn it, won't stream for me at work.
samimama123 - April 9, 2007 12:28 PM (GMT)
I heard it..he said he missed his first flight to Atlanta because they were in the airport restaurant lol..he sounded VERY rough on WFY..Movin On was pretty good though...no mention of a concert in Atlanta in a month...
tulee - April 9, 2007 12:31 PM (GMT)
O sorry, I'm so upset that I couldn't be there in the studio. It seem that a lot of fans got to meet him I wonder if there was anyone from the etrain.
So many commercials on this station, it wasn't much of an interview of the part I heard.
At least I heard him sing!
PoorMe - April 9, 2007 12:32 PM (GMT)
Is he going to be on anymore? I'm streaming now.
tulee - April 9, 2007 12:38 PM (GMT)
I'm wondering that myself, Poor me, I missed the official good bye if there was one.
georgiafan1 - April 9, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
No. They had a pretty long interview before Elliott sang. After he sang, that was the end.
I thought that Elliott sounded great on both songs.
Steve & Vikki usually Podcast interviews so Elliott's interview may be up later.
tulee - April 9, 2007 01:00 PM (GMT)
You just wrote what I found out, georgiafan, when I called the station. They will podcast it on their website for people who missed it, like me. :headsmack:
Also said that they would definitely add his song to their playlist....that's what I want to hear.
kagey - April 9, 2007 01:02 PM (GMT)
They need to play it right NOW so that the listening audience that heard the interview and live singing can also hear the CD version of WFY
ohioguy45780 - April 9, 2007 01:05 PM (GMT)
let's hope they follow through.....
glad to see he's #48 on the Mediabase.
so close...so close.....
Linda4Elliott - April 9, 2007 01:11 PM (GMT)
I listened...thought he sounded great..WFY was a little scratchy..hard to hit those high notes early in the am...they missed their flight so didn't get into town until 2am. DJ said, thanks for not just blowing us off :) Movin On was great as usual. DJ said he and the guitarist had great chemistry. Elliott said, he is my inspiration, I just gaze into his eyes..LOL...great sense of humor. The interview was nice.

They didn't even play the song after the visit. That doesn't make sense. I don't know what can be done for them to start playing it. More people HAVE TO to call up and thank them for having Elliott on and request.
Linda4Elliott - April 9, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
They have the performance up now at the station web site :)
http://www.star94.com/shows/index.cfm?show=sv&cid=202You can also contact them from there and thank them for having him and request WFY
alienhamster - April 9, 2007 03:06 PM (GMT)
FYI, the other Atlanta station DID play WFY this morning (according to yes.com):
http://www.allthehitsq100.com/Atlanta, GA folks should call over there, too.
