Title: Virginia Tech Massacre
Description: So sorry for the families
Gogo - April 16, 2007 04:48 PM (GMT)
I hope none of our etrainers or families are involved in the sad incident. Let's keep them all in our prayers.
elliottfan78 - April 16, 2007 05:10 PM (GMT)
I was listening to my local news coverage about it at lunchtime. 22 people were killed, including the gunman. 20-30 people wounded. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
realitymom - April 16, 2007 05:14 PM (GMT)
OMG! How horrible for all involved. I haven't seen anything on the news yet, but then again, the TV has been on Nick Jr. or Disney all morning. My heart & prayers go out to all affected.
GraceStreet - April 16, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Spare yourself: they keep playing the cellphone video of the academic building where you can hear non-stop gunshots. It's beyond horrific. :(
leefromva - April 16, 2007 05:28 PM (GMT)
My son was on his way to class at Va Tech and thank God he had not reached campus yet. He and all his roomates are ok but he told me he had a 10:10 class and would have been right in the area of the second shootings. Im so thankful that he is safe and my heart goes out to all the families involved.

We in VA are totally grief stricken over this. All of us have friends who either have or had students at Tech and Tech feels like an extension of our community wherever we are. LeeofVA I am so thankful that your child was not harmed.

Our prayers are with all the students, staff and parents and especially the families of those who died.

Thank you -- we're really going to need it. This is really a blow to the heart of the Virginia Tech family (and Hokies are very much family) and the state of Virginia.
A very dark day, indeed. :(
WeloveUElliott - April 16, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone. . This is just so very sad.

I've been glued to the TV all afternoon. It is just so hard to believe that something like this could happen in the beautiful rural town of Blacksburg. My husband grew up near there and I have an old college friend who works at Tech. It is devastating to say the least. My prayers are with all of the families of the victims.
wowhesgood - April 16, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.
Gogo - April 16, 2007 08:30 PM (GMT)
I just learned that Bill Sammon's (Fox News reporter) daughter and son attend VA Tech. One reason they picked the school was safety. I guess they had a shooting a short time ago and now this. Both of his kids are safe and he thanks God they are.
SheilaHI - April 16, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
My first thoughts were of all E-trainers and Families in hopes that all in Virginia were safe
Sending prayers , love and Aloha from Hawaii!
pdlvne - April 16, 2007 08:47 PM (GMT)
This is so terrible. I work for an insurance company and one of the adjusters wives works out there in a local hospital in the ER. She called her huband and told him do not come anywhere near Blacksburg today. He said that she was really shaken (understandably so) on the phone. I just could not image.
My thoughts and prayers are with all the families.
LeefromVA - I am so glad that your son is okay. Best news I have heard all day.

Lee, I am so happy that your son is safe and sound. I can't even imagine how you must feel. My son is upstate away at school right now and I just want to hug him.
R.I.P.

I just heard about it a little time ago. I'm really sorry to all who have been impacted and my thoughts/prayers are with everyone.
Ironically, I heard about this during my Psychology class (I'm a college student). We were talking about why the person could have possibly committed a mass crime like that. My professor said sometimes people can have a tumor pressing on the portion of our brain that controls impulses and important aspects of our personality. Thus, they can lose touch with reality and act on very bad impulses and could result in horrific crimes like this. Again, I'm so sorry and pray for all those effected. It's such a tragedy. :(
leefromva - April 16, 2007 11:30 PM (GMT)
Thank you all for being such caring friends. Our E family is really special. I just found out Brian was about 100 yards from the second shooting waiting to get off the bus to go to class when they were told they could not get off. I knew he was close to the area but not that close. Im just so thankful he is safe. I just wish Va Tech had locked down after the first shooting at 7:15. I think this was a huge error on their part. Please keep all the students and the families of the students that died in your continued prayers. This will leave an enormous scar on everyone involved.

Leefromva I'm so glad to hear that your son is ok, I'm sure he must have been scared to death. My brother has a friend who goes there and was near the building when the shootings occured, thankfully he is doing fine as well. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has been affected by this tragic event.
flowercrazy - April 17, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)
My mom told me about the shootings as soon as I got home from school. When she mentioned Virginia I was so scared some people on the board might have family members who go to the school. I hope everyone is okay just like LeefromVa's son.
I fell asleep this afternoon and when I woke up I found my mom glued to the TV watching the interview about investigations. The shooting has really affected so many people, even here in Toronto. Prayers and hugs from my whole family here in Canada :grouphug:

this is senseless. I just spent the day playing with my toddler. Do I need to fear for his life every minute?
elliottfan78 - April 17, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
There was a press conference at 7:30 tonight. The police are investigating whether the first shooting at the dorm and the second shooting at the classroom building are even related. Would be a pretty big coincidence if they aren't.
SoulMusicRocks - April 17, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
I feel terrible. But I want to know: why? Things like this make you realize that you never know. You gotta tell people you love that you love them everyday. In a way, this reminded me why I want to be a Psychologist. I'd like to help people before they get to this stage because something mentally or emotionally had to be going on. Again, my heart aches for all of the people out there affected. Know we support and are here for you in this tragic time.

I only just arrived home from work about a half hour ago, and came to the eTrain. I am so sorry for all of Virginia's loss. I’ve come to know so many of you, and I share tears with all of you. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Unfortunately, in the Korean community they probably wouldn't talk to a doctor. I lived in a community that was predominantly Korean. They do not visit with their neighbors let alone a doctor of psychology. It was so odd to us. It took two years before they would even wave hello and it wasn't because we were'nt Korean that's how it is with everyone. They are very private people and take a long time to trust you.
terriberriez - April 17, 2007 06:38 PM (GMT)
It's a horrible feeling. My mom called me yesterday to ask me if I was ok (this was before I knew about the shooting). I too am a college student and events like this frighten me. Last year, a student on our campus got stabbed repeatedly by another student over a project.
