Title: I Am So Sad
Description: but maybe people will stop
amandarhea - April 19, 2007 01:58 PM (GMT)
Im deeply upset about Sanjaya being voted off, but maybe now people will leave him alone. I loved Sanjaya i think he was one of the people the shows where about. Now i know this will start something with someone, i pray it wont. But hopefully people will get back to there lives and stop spending it bashing this poor boy, and im not just talking about people on the etrain im talking about people all over. I truley dont believe it was VFTW people that got him this far, he had a fan base and much as people didnt want to admit people he loved him. With that im off, to school.
realitymom - April 19, 2007 03:15 PM (GMT)
I was shocked that I was sad too, Amanda. Everyone has their own opinions & though I do not feel Sanjaya was that vocally talented, I did not agree with the media bashing him. He is a sweet kid & perhaps he will have a future in the music industry, time will tell. I feel that AI IS for those who are vocally talented but under ordinary circumstances would not be 'discovered'. America is still trying to figure that out though...

I agree totally.
SoulMusicRocks - April 19, 2007 03:30 PM (GMT)
I feel bad for the genuine fans of any contestant that is voted off. It's a difficult thing. For some reason, my true favorite every year has not won save for Season 1 when my favorite did win lol. My favorite season 2: Kim Locke. season 3: LaToya London. Season 4: the top 3 Season 5: Elliott. So, really except for Carrie and Kelly, the others I really liked left at around 3rd or 4th place and it is sad. I also agree with RealityMom in so far as the singing talent. Even though to a large extent it is about popularity, it is about singing as well. That's why I watch the show, honestly.

I hope this year is different, Dox. That's why I'm not leaving anything to chance. I'm power voting for Melinda every week :) I really would like to see the best singer win this year.

Sorry Amanda, It's always a bummer when your favorite leaves. Hope you noticed that the other contestants were upset too.

I found myself sad today too about Sanjaya. The show will go on, but he made it fun and enjoyable. I wish him well

yea well heres a quick rundown
bottom three. blake, lakisha, and sanjaya.
black was safe. sanjaya went home
ALLLL of the contestants were BALLING including sanjaya...
AvivaDove - April 20, 2007 01:10 AM (GMT)
I felt almost as sad last night as when Elliott was voted off. I loved Sanjaya. He really could sing. Diana Ross, Tony Bennett, and Jennifer Lopez loved him too. I want to have my husband download his songs. When he sang Bathwater, I thought it was better than Gwen Stefani. That whole week, I couldn't get it out of my head.
Now, it's time to look to the future. Sanjaya will be back for the finale. He'll be on the summer tour. He'll be back in the spotlight in the future.

Hmmm well my faves were...
1. Kelly Clarkson
2. Clay Aiken
3. Jennifer Hudson
4. Vonzell Solomon (and Carrie and Bo. The whole top 3 was freakin' amazing)
5. Elliott Yamin
Yup, so besides Kelly my FIRST fave hasn't ever won. Phil ain't winning this year either so forget this year, but he's better off without winning IMHO.

I just really felt bad for him. He seemed like a nice kid, but he got picked on all the time. He didnt choose to stay, it wasnt his fault

I, too, will miss seeing Sanjaya on AI. He made that show a bit more interesting for me.

Monkey, it's 'bawling'. Balling is a nickname for something else...

Amanda, I felt very sad as well. Not because I think he should have won, but because he did add something to the show. I admire his tenacity and his showmanship. Through all of the adversity he smiled and accepted the criticism as a gentleman. Hopefully, someone will pick up on his true talents and help him find his way in the business.
AvivaDove - April 20, 2007 01:18 PM (GMT)
I just saw on the news that People Magazine invited him to a White House press corespondence dinner on monday. It said he won't sing though, he's just a guest. That's pretty cool for a 17 year old!
Lookin4Trouble - April 20, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)
I believe Sanjaya will do well. I think anyone would be a fool not to pick him up. I think he would do quite well on television. I saw him on Leno last night and he had a great attitude. He took everything in stride and said he always likes to look at the positive. Leno was very kind to him.
I just think he will succeed outside of Idol.

dang it i missed him. I think he will be bigger then ne of the idols this year. I think he should go into some form of entertainment. I mean the kids knows how to entertain. and i think i spelled that wrong sorry.
ladycentaur - April 20, 2007 06:14 PM (GMT)
The saddest part about Sanjaya is that he actually does have a very nice voice. His problem was that he was shy and lacked confidence so he didn't project his voice as well as he could have if he were not shy and lacking in confidence. He never once got productive input or advice from the judges. Instead of giving him USEFUL feedback to help him improve they just made a mockery of him and it was disgusting. What makes it even more disgusting is the fact that he is only 17 years old and SUCH a sweet, kind soul.
AvivaDove - April 20, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
Sanjaya does have a nice voice. Did you notice when he sang his farewell song and sang about his hair, he showed his voice off? Some people can't sing through the tears or sadness of being voted off. Sanjaya, like Elliott did a better job with his last song, once the pressure was over. Sanjaya has only been gone since wednesday and I miss him already. He really made a boring season great.

Amanda:
I hope this stays on YouTube long enough for you to watch it. I think people will be seeing a lot of Sanjay in the future. He is so sweat and has plans for his future, college and then the entertainment industry.
I enjoyed his performance, although he has a nice singing voice he is only 17 and needs more experience and exposure. If he does attend College (as he mentioned on Leno) his confidence will definitely grow.
Personally, I think his natural abilities would be musical theater and acting. There are so many avenues for him to explore and he has so much time. The tour this summer will be a wonderful experience for him.
I will be looking for him in the future, and think I will find him on TV and in the movies, maybe even on stage in my city. I always buy season tickets to live theater.

I SOOO AGREE LC. It really hit a nerve in me that the judges were always nasty to him. HE IS 17!!!!! I never liked the way the judges treated him. Even Paula who is supposed to be the nicer judge was a bit on the cusp of rude.
I guess as a mother of a teenager it just really got to me. I didn't like that.
I felt he could grow - and DID grow with the guest judges feedback but the real judges could have been a bit more "mentor'ish".
I hope he finds his niche in the industry. I always said he and his sis would be the india/american version of Donny and Marie Osmond. LOL I could see them doing a variety show. And his sis has a whole fanbase of her own - cough. Albeit a bunch of old men LOL
I think everyone here - love him or hate him - have to agree he made an impact on that show.
sherwood - April 21, 2007 06:10 AM (GMT)
I'll bet people have already been talking to Sanjaya about his future. It's too bad his vocals didn't improve as much as they needed to. If they had, he would've nailed the title.
SodaPop - April 23, 2007 09:54 AM (GMT)
You could join those of us who are voting for Sanjaya at Moosak.com. He's doing quite well. (Just looked down at my "tag" and realized I've been a board member a whole year and am still a "just boarded"....so sad.

BamBi_GuRL - April 23, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
LOL I actually had a spat with a fellow e-trainer down at moosak. I posted in Sanjaya's board as an Elliott Yamin fan who is supportive of Sanjaya and there was this one Elliott fan who came in and started saying "How could an Elliott fan support Sanjaya? They're like night and day" and continued bashing, saying even chicken little can sing circles around Sanjaya. I answered his/her question, admitting that I did not like Sanjaya at first, but after a few listen, I started to appreciate his vocals, they're just softer than the other contestants and that, yes, he can hit the notes. All the bash and hatred that people threw at him just fueled me even more to support him. Then I reminded him/her that if he/she were going to spew hate to please respect Sanjaya's fans by not doing it on his board. Of course, the person didn't care until his/her posts were finally flagged.
I had to admit that I almost hate Elliott because of what some of his fans said, but then I realized that it is not Elliott's fault if his fans chose to say mean-spirited things about other contestants (in their own fan board especially) Those fans should really be careful not to bash others as what they say can reflect on their idol and affect people's judgements toward their idol. I'd hate for that to happen to Elliott.
BamBi_GuRL - April 23, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
I kindly reminded him/her as a fellow e-trainer that it might affect the way people think about Elliott too. I hope the person will understand and just leave Sanjaya alone. Like he hasn't got enough bash already.
BTW I can't even believe myself, I'm not really even watching this season and yet I feel flustered everytime someone/some people bash this kid.
And no, I'm not Indian (as some people have accused me of being)

Um.. sorry to spam (mods can remove this post if they'd like) but I completely feel the same thing as you amandarhea (Therefore, the quote, LOL) Thanx for standing up for Sanjaya on the other thread too btw :)
mcornelio - April 24, 2007 04:35 AM (GMT)
There is still hope for Sanjaya --- He'll be on the tour and will have ample opportunity to grow his fan base.
Don't hate me for saying this, but the true test for any fan base is how they vote with their pocket books. As many of you may recall, Elliott was also constantly bashed in the media last year especially about his teeth, but his fan base (the etrain and more) always supported him despite the negative press because we believed that he was special.
Elliott's music (recorded off the airwaves from the AI show) was on every music apparatus I had in my cars, at home, and at work. If Elliott never recorded anything else, I would have listened to this meager collection over and over for the rest of my life. Even if Elliott had not gotten as far as he's gone, I would have bought Elliott's music even if he recorded MP3s in his back yard and sold it on the street corner.
I hope that Sanjaya's fans feel the same way. If they do, then Sanjaya may have a future in the music business.
As for me, the only Idols whose CD I bought are Elliott and Bucky. :)
surfcity - April 26, 2007 10:35 AM (GMT)
I fully expect him to resurface after the tour as a host of a teen show or some other similar capacity. He weathered the storm well, which is great training for a job in the entertainment industry. He is bright, personable and engaging and will no doubt do well.
