Title: If You Were E's Manager
Description: And could change anything
Moody's lovechild - April 24, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
What would you do differently. This is just meant to be a fun exercise, its not meant to put down decisions by his team. I have some thoughts but was just curious to see others.
lindagt - April 24, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
This is always fun stuff to think about - I'm sure I'd have some ideas.
BUT first and foremost, I believe that, as a fan, I am not close enough to his situation to know all the ins, outs, challenges and opportunities that he and his team face everyday. Every time I have thought something to be a little worrisome, it has turned out to be brilliant on the 20-20. He and his team seem to have some amazing instincts - so I have a lot of faith in them.
That said - in the world of daydreams, I would have gotten him more TV appearances, added horns to the band, and never hired ISquad.
Moody's lovechild - April 24, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)
Right on Lindagt, Its kind of liberating. My first thought was one killer jazz song on the cd and have the musicians that could carry that through a whole set and try to get a gig at say the Newport jazz festival this summer. That will be next year. I know Elliott checks this site and I know where his heart is musically from AI. However lets continue with the discussion.

I hate to be appearance oriented, but the world is. I would insist that Elliott look great at every event. Relaxed but still look like the CD cover. That is what people are expecting and that is part of the job.

AGREE. We all love him no matter what, but we want the rest of the world to love him too and everyone might not have the same unconditional devotion that we do. Like the CD cover and like the WFY video.
onlyforelliott - April 24, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
Elliott is living his dream. I don't understand why anybody would want to change anything.

Also - just because WE might do something differently doesn't necessarily mean anyone SHOULD do anything differently. This is just a game of "fantasy management" - for entertaiment purposes only.....
Sk8888 - April 24, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
Fantasy Management.....you should pitch that Linda as a new Reality TV show!!

Sounds like fun doesn't it - maybe it could make for a reality show  Like the apprentice for the music industry.
elliottfan78 - April 24, 2007 11:29 PM (GMT)
Probably schedule some more TV appearances.
movin2thabeet - April 24, 2007 11:50 PM (GMT)
I'd have put more resources into the production of the CD with additional live instrumentation and greater musical depth and more diverse selection of tunes. Would have gone alot easier on the digitized hand clapping sounds. Gone with some more interesting percussive sounds.
Also would have set up a system to insure adequate product fulfillment in all retail locations.
hip-yamized - April 24, 2007 11:52 PM (GMT)
Jay Leno
loose O. Hat
David Letterman
trim hair and beard
Oprah
wear soulful clothes
add saxaphone
B.E.T. Awards Show perform ILYMTYEK
contact E.T., Extra, AccessHollywood, Insider to announce Tour
More tv exposure & style up. Thinking of his cool look the night he was voted off AI.
I love the way Elliott looks but a first impression on potential fans is important. And if youv'e got it...flaunt it. He's got IT! :thud:
junker3 - April 24, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
if i was his manager, i wouldn't be here now would i? LOL

I agree plus I would clip back the hair clean the facial hair and maybe wearing a little leather. Huuuuummmmmmm
chloewannabee - April 25, 2007 02:46 AM (GMT)
ok this is just fantasy, right?
I would have hired me to be his on the road mom :rotfl: :rotfl: ( and I would have made him get his hair trimmed!)
Nana2160 - April 25, 2007 03:35 AM (GMT)
I have to agree on the "First Impression" factor. Unfortunately, people all too often judge a book by its cover.
WE all know the many faces of Elliott...WE all know the impeccable talent he has...WE all know what a gracious and wonderful youngman he is...But some people that may see him for the first time...May label him "sloppy" Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Elliott...He is my "Cyber son" and I only want the best for him...But I too think he needs to "freshen up" his public appearance.
When my son & I saw Elliott at Circuit City Corporate Office last month...I did over hear some of the employees commenting on his "unkept hair"...Elliott did not perform at Circuit City. Many of the people there probabaly have never heard his beautiful voice...but they did see Elliott and had an opportunity to make a visual "First Impression"
I know Elliott isn't a "high maintainence" kind of guy...I think I would rather see him cut his hair short (Early Idol) rather than the long curly look. Sorry guys...It's the Mother/Nana in me...My all time favorite E-look was the end of Idol...BUT, I don't think Elliott liked the "stylized" look. Too much extra work.
On another note...Some of the outdoor venues will get very hot for Elliott and I do hope he takes that into consideration...when selecting his "Stage Style"
Look how bad he sweat during Jimmy Kimmel...Can you imagine 90+ degree temps???
One more note to the "Stage Style" I hope a strong wind blows the Orioles Ball cap out of his public appearance wardrobe. Keep it for casual wear...But let's give it up at "work" (My boss would fire me if I wore a ball cap to an interview)
PLEASE don't anyone take me wrong...I am all about Elliott's future success and I just feel VERY strong about the "First Impression" factor!!!

Hmmmmm, fantasy manager. Lemme see....
1.) CD would have 13 trax; ALL bonus trax available for individual purchase. (for the poor folk fan...:) )
2.) A stylist would travel with him at all times to keep his hair kept & his beloved hat clean. (hat for non visual appts only.....oh wait...he already does that. OK)
3.) He would hit 2 major cities in all 50 states.
4.) Ace Young would be his opening act. (for purely selfish reasons on my part...did I mention I would also book the hotel rooms? :eyebrows:)
5.) He would travel to all of his shows via a train...ETRAIN! heehee (hey, this IS fantasy!)
This is fun....cool idea moody! :rocker:

I think alot of you would like to be road moms for Elliott. That would make a great VH1 series, with voting and elimination rounds while you all pamper him and get voted off each week. I'd watch. rotfl
Moody's lovechild - April 25, 2007 05:10 AM (GMT)
Sorry about that last one,but when I told my ladyfriend about you guys getting banned from the AI boards and that it seemed like alot of middle aged woman she laughed and said thats right we're fiesty we've raised our children so I figured you could take it.lol. oh one thing I would change in three words, Joss Stones sound. Saw her on DWTS and unbelievable, E could do that BIG TIME!
georgiafan1 - April 25, 2007 05:54 AM (GMT)
If I were Elliott's manager, I would count my lucky stars.
Moody's lovechild - April 25, 2007 06:18 AM (GMT)
I'll have to check that out, I have dialup now so if I logon to myspace and finish that expedition to the north pole it should be up when I get back.

i feel u. yes. absolutely. very nice.. more soul/jazz/r+b w/ less pop/softrock..i actually really dug the hot early santana-esque limbo arrangement of whippin post at workplay (but did not like how their sound was so cleaned up processed and polished when cd was released..songs didn't even sound like the raw live sound that was them any more)..but with E's remarkable talent, even more soulful rhythm+blues jazz (real instruments, not fake synth stuff)..and yes, horns and FUNKAY sounds..oh yeah! and higher quality sound mixing if they can afford it so the quality sounds better in a variety of playback devices including cheap car cd players..folks like to drive to some funkay tunes that sound fine!
and dialup folks may have a blessing re myspace.. i was gonna say eliminate the evil sorcerers messin with his site when Elliott is busy working/traveling away from home. no idea if it relates to admin of the site/page or someone exploiting or hacking into it. i realize myspace is one of the least secure sites but abundant strange occurances cause fans to avoid a site. maybe an offical site that's NOT myspace would be better.. at least it would be more secure from hacking and phishing. I know many who refuse to visit myspace for these very reasons. a lot of problems with comments posting and phishing on the site lately. i know a lot of folks have been avoiding his page.. perhaps down the road if resources permit a nice site that's NOT myspace but rather a professional source of information and visibility to communication information to fans, media and industry professionals (or just general folks interested in learning more about him who might buy his music or attend shows but not wanna deal with myspace) without the security risks/concerns of myspace..instead a site that all folks could see and get data without having to register and be blocked off from the general public. it would be good marketing i think.. its just a thought..esp as Elliott evolves gets incredibly busy its easier and more professional and more easily and readily accessable to all including dialup-users and those concerned about online security if there was an elliottyamin.com for instance.

#1 - Take that one step further - have all the bonus songs on the CD itself
#4 - :rotfl:
pdlvne - April 25, 2007 10:52 AM (GMT)
I would have liked more TV time.
Rick1965 - April 25, 2007 12:55 PM (GMT)
1) lose the hat
2) get him on every talk show possible
3) they should have released You Are The One right about NOW!!! It's not my favorite song on the the album but it has WEDDING SONG WRITTEN ALL OVER IT!! It's one of those songs that could have caught on big time at this time of year and been a smash!
4) get him a cameo in a sitcom...because as the radio interviews prove...He's really funny!!
5) lose the hat
6) Get him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame...ok...ok maybe it's too soon...but what the heck!!
7) OPRAH!!
8)His own official website...the myspace thing is to hip and happening for me!!! Hell...even William Hung has his own website.
9) lose the hat...I know it's about the music...but still since alot of the pictures are close ups and head shots or of him sitting down they all look like the same picture because of the hat. Maybe it's not a big deal but he doesn't want to become the Minnie Pearl of the MTV generation!! (please if you don't know who Minnie Pearl is don't ask!! I feel old enough around here!!)
10) Get him to spend the day with all the members of the Etrainstation and do a request only concert so we can all hear him sing our favorite songs and any other song we would love to hear him sing. OK maybe that would end up being more like a weekend!! It might not even be humanly possible for him to sing every song we would love to hear him sing!! He'd be there for weeks!!
Nana2160 - April 25, 2007 06:31 PM (GMT)
I agree with Linda...He needs alittle more brass ensemble sound...A cool saxaphone/trumpet sound!!! I know this will all come as he grows...But we are his "management team" right? (Planning ahead)
:urock:
tess1023 - April 25, 2007 06:33 PM (GMT)
If I was Elliott manager I would book him on major radio station that everyone can here him, making sure to leave a good impression with the program dir so his songs get put in the music line up, hire him a stylist so that they can work on a look that will suit him more better than what he looks like now (sorry) the hobo look is driving me crazy" I want that hat gone his hair trimed he can make it neat. A new video, drop another single, book him on more T.V shows
location, location listen to what the fans want, re-release his cd with all the
exclusive track included target other genere of music like the christian music market to sell them FIND A WAY AND FREE, my main thing is elliott needs big market exposesure.
Moody's lovechild - April 25, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
I like the idea of dropping another single, I would think its time. Also, You are the one would be a good Christian release, I still say that is a Christian song. As for his looks I guess it doesn't bother me as much.

They don't bother me much either.
The hat - he can wear it if he wishes, except for awards shows.
Yaminilita - April 26, 2007 04:13 AM (GMT)
The saxaphone in Elliott's music is a brilliant idea. I love the sax! Elliott's smoky, soulful vocals and the sax - deadly combination.
I would definitely, definitely get Elliott scheduled on Oprah.
I'd schedule him for mini-concert on Good Morning America or the Today show.
I'd schedule him for a interview and performance on BET (Black Entertainment Television)
Perform a song on American Idol - great exposure.
I'd schedule him to be a presenter and various high profile award shows.
I'd cut a few inches off his hair. I love the length and the way his hair is styled for the photo shoot for his cd. I'd also keep his beard neatly trimmed. There's a lot of mojo in a well-kept Elliott beard
Moody's lovechild - April 26, 2007 04:28 AM (GMT)

sange - April 27, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
Oh Nelly,if I were E's manager,y'all would never see him again-he'd be locked up in a room with me !!!!!And yes,the hat would definately come off!
He would sing me sweet music and I could most definately blow the horn!Oh geesh!!!I'm banned!!!!!!Outta control!Lord!

I don't think they ban people on the Etrain or I would surely be gone, its a beautiful thing. Probably a result of what happened to so many on the AI boards. All comments welcome to a degree I suppose. You were cutting it close though.lol
sange - April 27, 2007 12:44 AM (GMT)
k,settled for the moment, umm, yes, more blusey, live sound going on,is what I want from him,I LOVE the cd,but I want less synthesized sound on the next one.Man,can he sing the blues, jazz,oh ya!!!!!!He is better than this teeny pop style, but nonetheless,I STILL LOVE IT!I love anything he sings! He definately needs to chop the curls a tad.

Moody's lovechild - April 27, 2007 05:21 AM (GMT)
Right now if I managed E, I,d tell him to nothing but relax before the tour. We all know he is diabetic and the photos of him in Boston he looked run down, I hope I'm wrong and I hope we are not putting undue pressure on him. He need not worry about his success or what our expectations are. I think he needs to take a break.
