I hope that Elliott sings the songs in the traditional way during his NASCAR appearances. Not normally an R&B crowd. Lots of country singers have performed in the past.

I'll actually be at the race on Friday (not going to the Saturday one), but I'll set my DVR anyway.

I set my DVR.. But it was at 5:00 not 4:30 so i dont know if they will show him singing or not.. a girl can hope though right :D

There are two NASCAR programs on ESPN2 that precede the race broadcast. NASCAR Now and NASCAR Countdown. I am DVR'g all of them just in case. In my 15 years of watching NASCAR w/ my fanatic race fan hubby the SSB has always been broadcast during the main event. Same everytime...Prayer, SSB, (military jet flyover) then *start your engines*.

As far as Saturdays CUP race, not sure when Elliott's God Bless America will be in the lineup.

Set my DVR last night so I wouldn't forget. Leaving work around noon to head down to Richmond with my son. Never been to a NASCAR race (my son has). Ok, now I've been to a tennis match and a NASCAR race all because of one Mr. Elliott Yamin. :lol:

Good for you HW! It's kinda cool down this way today. Don't forget that rain jacket and maybe a light weight jacket as well. Should be a lot of fun!

Pretty good. It was really exciting to see her on TV and think she is just around the corner so to speak. The kids have been so excited down here.


Due to the Queen in town they really have not said a lot yet about the race. They have been talking about the race, but not like the past. I think as the day goes on the race will take more of a front headline. I wish they would have said that Elliott was going to be there a little more......... maybe they will as the day goes on. On Q94 the other day they did a quick call to Elliott. He was on his cell phone heading to the airport.

WRIC showed some hot pics of Elliott at the Q94 party from last time he was in town on this morning's race coverage. He was looking good with his shades. Now that she's gone, they can promote him.

What a nice treat for you guys to have her visit Richmond. I attending a reception for her years ago that was held on the White House lawn. Got tickets from work. They don't do that anymore though.

Thank you so much for posting this! My husband who at first was not an Elliott fan, has been changed around since he has listened to the new CD! When I told him about Elliott singing the National Anthem for NASCAR he was all excited to have it recorded on the DVR!!! eeek!!! It's Friday at 7:30 p.m. and i am at a happy hour, just snuck away to the computers. and I'm not very happy, cause even if we leave right now, I WILL PROBABLY MISS THE NATIONAL ANTHEM ON TV. arghhh!!!

ARGHHHHH I THINK I MISSED IT! My cousin called to tell me she was pregnant, which is GREAT! And I was so happy that I completely lost track of the time.

They said that the ceremony will start in a couple of minutes - so it is probably Elliott's performance.

I'm so glad I saw that. Elliott looked great, he's so handsome. Still my American Idol. His voice soared...it's my favorite NA yet! He put so much heart into it. I really felt proud, both to be an American and of Elliott.

He started low, which is good. He sounded a little tight...nervous. Just a tiny bit. Other than that he blew off the roof. He hit the high notes effortlessly and even did some higher adlibs. Awesome.

He needs a trim though.

Elliott sounded awesome, my husband said "he needs a haircut" though. But I do agree that a trim would be a good thing, JMO.

Anyway he was great. More traditional than his first SSB.

I heard Elliott say he was going to just keep growing his hair, see how long it gets. So, I was expecting his hair to keep getting longer. I love it. I think he's cuter than ever now. I wonder what look he's going for? Rocker?

I thought he looked cute as a button. I like the long hair and beard. The only problem is that his hair is falling in his eyes. A trim would make it curl better. And I'm sure the humidity wasn't helping. What's the weather like in Richmond now?

Everytime I see Ryan on AI ..I think of Elliott. Same with Chris Richardson. Seems that " growing out your beard look...but not ever to the point of having a beard"...is in today.

very cool and not much humidity. If it were humid, the curls would be tighter and maybe out of his eyes.

His hair is BEAUTIFUL curls!!!The hat covers that gorgeous face sometimes though,you want to keep peeking under it!
