Title: Birchmere Sold Out!!

lindagt - May 7, 2007 10:31 PM (GMT)
I just routinely check for these things and what has become Elliott's first concert of the tour is SOLD OUT!!!!!!!

I am so excited that there will be a packed house for him that night!!! I could :bawl: tears of joy for him!

Rutti - May 7, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
That's awsome new, Linda. Hope we'll see more news like this. I also hope there is a huge crowd at Innsbrook! Is there such a thing as selling Innsbrook out? I dont' think so. It's standing room only, so how do they measure something like that? Oh well, I just hope there's a huge, huge crowd!

Most of the venues Elliott is playing are much, much smaller than Innsbrook. Innsbrook can hold thousands and virtually never sells out. I do know that Gold Circle was sold out for Innsbrook. Still waiting for the New York show to sell out - that's a small venue, so I hope it does.

elliottisamazing - May 7, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
NO!!
Im sad now.

I wanted to go to that concert too! :(
Oh well. Thats good for Elliott. :)

pdlvne - May 7, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
I hope that with the change in Innsbrook to a Friday night that will draw a bigger crowd too. :rocker: to the Birchmere.

lindagt - May 7, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
Yeah, well I have to admit that lingering competitive side of me wanted us to sell out the Birchmere because Taylor Hicks did

elliottisamazing - May 7, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
LMAO! :P

Rutti - May 7, 2007 11:23 PM (GMT)
LMAO, too! But also have that competitive thinking going on, so I'm right there with ya, Linda! We know Elliott is the best and it's nice to see evidence now and then that others are finding that out as well.

lovinelliott23 - May 7, 2007 11:26 PM (GMT)
:rocker: I'm glad I got my tickets early! I'm going to try to get there as early as possible. I live in MD and it'll take at least an hour to get there, so I hope I don't end up with a crappy seat! That would stink :(

ohioguy45780 - May 7, 2007 11:44 PM (GMT)
that's awesome. :rocker:

and the Birchmere is where? Washington, D.C. area, right? Where we're having a heck of a time getting airplay...go figure!

parsimmon - May 7, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
I'm so happy for Elliott.

They even have his concert up at their website, but STILL wont play him.
C'mon hot 99.5. hop on board

baileyone - May 7, 2007 11:59 PM (GMT)
I am going to The Birchmere and I was wondering if it would sell out - this is great news! The Birchmere is kind of a legend around here in Washington - great atmosphere for a concert - I can't wait until the 17th!!! :cheerleader:

For those not familiar with the Birchmere, it's a very "hip" place where *real* singers and performers go to play for people who love good music. You won't find a Britney or Jessica or Pussycat Doll in the bunch.

That Elliott is now sold out is a testament to his being accepted by a community outside the E-train and AI; his talent speaking for itself in legitimate music circles, his road to acceptance beyond the pop culture commercial music industry taking a giant leap with a performance at this legendary hall.

lindagt - May 8, 2007 12:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I was there for the first time about a month ago. It's legendary - as in many legends have performed here...

ohioguy45780 - May 8, 2007 12:15 AM (GMT)
It's also a fairly good-size place; not sure of capacity. Great to have dinner and a musical show all at once, though.

here's a list of current and upcoming performers:

You'll notice only two shows "SOLD OUT"... Stephen Stills and.... :rocker:

:rocker:

Thanks for the insight OG, that is so exciting! Sounds like there are people out there, besides us, lol, that know good music!

itslate - May 8, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
I just looked it up and The Birchmere has a capacity of 500. Not too shabby.

Congrats to Elliott.

Is Birchmere the place which requests that the audience not make noise or dance while the artist is performing?

lordy, I hope not...the e-train will go into convulsions if they can't clap and cheer and thud all over the place... ;-)

Now sir, a lady can thud quietly.

Yeah, I thought the "silence" rule was stupid. What singer wants their audience to sit there and just stare at them?

harleywoman - May 10, 2007 01:52 PM (GMT)
From today's Washington Post. :woohoo:

Unfortunately, it's also a very suburban place. Impossible to get to on public transportation, and, if you do schlep over by expensive cab, hard to get a cab to get away from late in the evening. All of which is why I'm not going. Come on, Elliott, great for you to play -- and sell out! -- the Birchmere. But come back to DC again soon and play a city venue. You'll sell that one out, too.

And without any radio play. What is wrong with these stations, anyway?

Well, the "silence" rule really isn't about silence but more about table conversation. and the like

Because the place is set up in kind of a dinner-theater format, there's a temptation for people to totally ignore some acts while they yammer and get loud at their tables. I've seen this happen years ago, especially to some really wonderful opening acts, who got treated like crap as everybody had a fine social time at the tables. I think that's why they made the rule. They don't mean that you can't respond to the performer, really, just that you aren't supposed to be having such a fine party with your own group that you ignore, drown out, and disrespect the performer (and your fellow audience members.)

Oh ok. So we can yell and scream for E as much as we want? (Well, kinda)

For those of you who are going.... how early are you getting there? I'm trying to figure out with my dad whether or not I need to leave straight from school or come home and then leave.

Miss_DreadLox - May 14, 2007 03:23 PM (GMT)
I live really close to the Birchmere (20 mins), have heard about it for many years, but never attended a concert there. I'm damn sure going to see Elliott! I plan to leave work at 2pm, go home and change into my "hip concert gear", B) then drive to the Birchmere. The doors open at 6pm. Concert starts at 7:30 or 8pm (right?) I'll be there by 5pm.   If I take my Elliott CD, do you think I'll be able to get a signature from him???

lovinelliott23 - May 14, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
Well, I am leaving right after school (school gets out at 2:30) and I'll be wearing my concert gear under my uniform all day  My school is in Baltimore (kinda close to Baltimoe City) so hopefully I'll just shoot down the highway and get there at around 3:45ish? Maybe? I'm taking my CD, we probablly will if we're there early enough but I really have no idea. I'm also going to sneak in my mp3 player, which has an audio recorder, and my camera. But you didn't hear that from me.. Yes, box office opens at 5:00 (to get your ticket and line number), doors open at 6:00, and the show starts at 7:30.

*edited because it's only going to take an hour, not 2 hours to get there XD*

Miss_DreadLox - May 15, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
Good plan, lovinelliott23! It's gonna be a BLAST :woohoo:

lovinelliott23 - May 15, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
I know! I'm so excited! I'll be the one wearing the green "I :heartbeat: EY" shirt. I just made it today!

lovinelliott23 - May 15, 2007 11:33 PM (GMT)
And I'll probably be the only 15 year old there :rotfl:

Do you know of anyone who has tickets (at least 2, preferably 3) they need to sell?? Will pay over face value! We weren't sure about scheduling and waited until it was too late!
