Have to share my poison ivy tip, I am so excited it works!
We had poison ivy growning behind the fence when we moved in a couple of months ago, but it was becoming winter and didn't worry about it then...my husband just has to look at it and it jumps on him....anyway, we debated using chemicals or pulling it out, since I have never had poison ivy, I would do the pulling, but decided to try something a little different.
Yesterday I filled an old spray bottle with warm vinegar and added about a half a cup of salt (don't know the exact measurement) and then added a couple squirts of dish detergent, mixed this all up and sprayed this on the poison ivy in the afternoon. Today I went out back to check and the poison ivy has withered up! YAY, so now I will just put on some rubber gloves and throw it away. Just one day and no chemicals! I thought that was awesome!
For anyone fighting poison ivy and not wanting to use chemicals, this is great!
Wow that is cool - thanks for the tip! I don't think poison ivy grows around my area, but this might work on other pesky weeds.
just make sure you heat the vinegar, so the salt disolves, or else it will clog your sprayer
