Title: Norva Concert Postponed?
Description: Concert postponed

AngELL - May 19, 2007 05:11 AM (GMT)
Just went to I-Squad and they had announcement at top of Mission Page that the Norfolk Norva concert for 5/20 has been postponed with details to follow...?????? That is all that was there! But then went to Elliott's myspace and it said it would be held 8/8!!!

Wendy - May 19, 2007 05:15 AM (GMT)
On Elliott's myspace page, they have the concert rescheduled for August 8th but it doesn't say why.

The Richmond Times Dispatch article today said something about "scheduling conflicts". Nothing more specific than that.

August 8th has been marked on my calendar and will be saved for Elliott.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.

I'm sooo glad I checked in today. Thank you.

The paper (VA Peninsula/Daily Press) had a write up about the concert yesterday, so this must be very last minute.

I hope it's not a health issue for Elliott, but instead a last minute TV appearance of something similar.

I've been monitoring the sales since the AI appearance and they've been remarkable if they can "keep the ball rolling" with another TV spot, that's fantastic.

I'm dissapointed, but so happy I found out before I drove over to Norfolk from Newport News.

Looking forward to August 8th!

So glad I checked with E-train before I drove from Richmond. Hey y'all don't forget to cancel your hotel reservations!

In the Daily Break section of the Virginian Pilot (the newspaper that serves the Norfolk area), they have a small notation about the concert. I know that some sections of the paper are printed ahead of time and I guess this is one of them. To look at that article, you'd never known the concert has been postponed.

I wasn't going to be able to attend the Norfolk concert tonight, but since it's been rescheduled for Aug. 8th, I went to Ticketmaster.com last night and bought tickets. When I printed out my tickets, they had number 149 and 150 on them. Does anyone know how the printable tickets are numbered? Surely
they hadn't only sold 148 tickets to the whole show before I bought mine. At least I hope not. With an attendance of over 5,000 people in the rain at Innsbrook in Richmond on Friday, hopefully they had almost sold out NorVa (I noticed that it holds 1500 people).

Has anyone heard how the tickets for other shows on the tour are selling?

Your question sparked my interest.
I bought my tickets to the NORVA from a Ticketmaster location the day the tour dates were announced and my tickets are number 33 & 34. Hard to believe that they only sold 100 more tickets since then. Daughty's. concert at the NORVA is already sold out.
On the other hand, there is a bunch of stuff going on in Norfolk this weekend, including Brian McKnight and Ruben S tonight and this big Graham (Billy's son has taken over the revivals) all weekend.

Only Elliott would get me to drive into all that tonight.

Well, number1, maybe that is the "scheduling conflict" right there. With all of the other things going on, and possible low ticket sales, that could explain the postponing of tonight's concert. Is Reuben's concert tonight also? Seems like E would not want to compete with another AI contestant (especially a winner) on the same night in the same city.

Yes at least that's what our paper reported on Friday, tonight at the VA Beach Amitheatre, Brian McKnight with Ruben as a special guest. That is a huge venue with the lawn probably about 12-14 thousand capacity.
But the Graham thing may have had an impact also.

hoome3 - May 21, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
Sounds like a smart move then to reschedule. And now it works out
that I can go to another concert :elliottcap:

It will be fun to compare the show Fri. night to one a couple of months later!

I just wish they had given more than 1 days notice.
I left Sat morning drivning 5 hours....I would not have even know it was canceled if I hadn't called Kellys Tavern after I got there to cancel my diner reservation.

I suppose with the Alexandria and Richmond concerts just being a couple of days before , it was wise to reschedule.

Maybe more of the Richmond people will drive an hour and a half down to Norfolk in Aug.

It's ok, but I am still :bawl:

I'm so sorry you had to drive that distance. I was grateful I found out before driving from the Peninsula, which is only about an hour or more with weekend traffic and the dreaded HRBT.

I think the actual venue, The NORVA, may also be an issue.
It's a "stand up the entire concert if you want to see the concert" type place. Appealing to a younger crowd, maybe.
I'm sure if they have the concert in August they are committed to have it there, but I think the venue is more of a rock concert place.

I think he'd sell out a venue like the Ntelus Pavilion in Portsmouth, which has both covered and lawn seats.

Wish Elliott would have his concert at the Ferguson Cener of the Arts in Newport News instead of the Norva. I know I hadn't bought a ticket to the Norva yet because as you said you have to stand the whole time and I am not a young kid anymore.

emmy4E - May 22, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
I had a seat at Innsbrook but once Elliott came on stage I don't think anyone was sitting. We danced and clapped the whole time. It was great and not tiring at all. In thinking about it I have spent a great deal of time on my feet for Elliott. I'm not so young anymore either- but Elliott makes me feel that way :elliottcap:

I've actually approached Bill Biddle, director of the center awhile back about booking Elliott at the Ferguson Center.
We're (DH) regulars there and he gives a group of us an update on performances, etc. about once a year. Last year Elliott's managment team was still in transition, but maybe this year. The tickets wouldn't be $20 but I gladly paid $40 to go to the State Fair Concert, so hopefully not an issue. The main hall holds 1700.

Yes, the accoustics are fantastic there.

Maybe it is time to aproach Bill at the Ferguson Center again!!!!!!

I can just imagine that "voice" heard at the Ferguson Center....whoo...hoo... :woohoo2:

The Ferguson Center is INDEED amazing! And, so beautiful! I am sure if E came there, the tickets would be a pretty penny, but I'd pay it, cause I'd only have to drive 5 minutes to see him! Haha. :awe:
