Yaminilita - May 21, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)
I actually went there first before coming here, and was pissed because I didn't see him in the 40s. I was like where the hell is Elliott????? I had to scroll WAY up. :rotfl:

Keep it coming!! Lord, we knew he could do it but to actually be watching his career take of is totally amazing! I've goosebumps thinking of it.

shasta35 - May 21, 2007 04:00 PM (GMT)
I think his HDD numbers are going to be pretty. Hee! I almost ran into a concrete barrier last night when I turned to 104.1 KRBE and they were playing Wait For You! At first I thought I had accidentally put his cd in, then I looked at the time to see if it was the 10pm face off and then I had to accept the fact that they were playing his song because it’s on the play list! I am so excited; Houston is a HUGE market for Elliott. They don’t play any of Taylor’s or Kat’s song but they play Elliott? This is way to cool for words.

There you are, Shasta!

I was going to pm you today if I hadn't seen you still. Houston added him some time last week it seems.

They have some countdowns there, right? Is there anything others can do to help?

They have some countdowns but most take place while I'm at work. They may have a top 8 at 8, I'll have to check and let you guys know.

I'm excited with his starting sales for now! This is what I am hoping for, that he'll be back in HDD's top 50, which he is for now! Hopefully this will be good, at almost 18% 4K copies is already good!

Flipboy5 - May 21, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
I guess we should at least thank Idol for this boost.

Whoever sells the most Elliott usually reports later in the process - so this is still good. Maybe 16,000 - 20,000 this week? You think?

I would think so, at least at the low end of that anyway. That 18 percent reporting number suggests that those who stock him saw sales go up pretty significantly this week, doesn't it? (Obviously the next 7 percent don't stock him ... )

Any updates??? I'm one of those "challenged" ppl who can't find the info for herself! :headsmack: :headsmack: :headsmack:

KellieLovesE - May 21, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
yeah how do you find this info?? :elliottcap:

lindagt - May 21, 2007 09:29 PM (GMT)
You have to register at Hits Daily Double - I just checked and no more outlets have reported in that sell Elliott - he's still on the chart - I think about 28 right now. Elliott's numbers typically grow the most at the end of the reporting time - like tomorow afternoon.

Wow, very good numbers. The power of AI, eh?

skiddlybop - May 22, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
I swear I don't mean to be a buzz kill, especially with the chart bounce being, what 50 places this week? That's fabulous and should fuel another week of radio play to maintain in or near the top 20. If they can stick for a month, I do believe they will stick for several months.

But my observation is...it's really a bit scary that the unit-sales bounce based on a TV appearance that had 25+ million viewers was 20,000 pieces at most? If the AI appearance could have generated 50K sales, E would be in the top 10, comfortably. I think KT Tunstall might have gotten more of an immediate sales bump from her song being sung last year.

I'm happy about this, I swear, but we're looking at a tough industry.

alienhamster - May 22, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
You have to factor in things like distribution and availability. Elliott isn't likely picking up a lot of casual shopper buys partially b/c of stocking issues. If he we were front and center on every end cap in America, we would have seen a much larger spike.

Moreover, while the audience is huge, it is AI after all. A lot of people who watch the show and are willing to buy CDs have likely already bought him.

And lastly, he's not country, so the purhase ceiling for spikes following TV appearances is much lower, generally. Elliott's not in a genre that shows crazy sales.

I feel like the numbers are solid. Perhaps more importantly, his single shot WAY up the charts. So now he'll get high Billboard placement.

Well, it's a depressed industry right now..at least that is what the news media keeps saying in regards to sales. I think Elliott's numbers are a great bounce. He's in the top 20.
But, I was wondering...what kind of boost did Maroon 5 get?

Jo-Jo - May 22, 2007 08:25 PM (GMT)
The placement of WFY at #25 on Mediabase has nothing to do with Elliott's AI appearance. This is based on airplay which continues to rise everyday. More and more people are being exposed to this incredible voice, and I'm sure he will continue to have an excellent run with the CD, especially as more singles are released. I don't think there is any need for worry.

I found reference to her album jumping 23 spots to #33 in the beginning of May last year, immediately after Katharine sang BHATCT, though I haven't been able to pin out the number of units sold.

Interestingly, according to Billboard, you'll notice her album never went any higher than #33 after the May 20, 2006 charts (and that's in spite of having two songs from it to reach the Top 25 in 2006). I found reference to her album selling 21,069 units (and with a 0% change from the week before) for the Soundscan charts from July 17/18 2006, which was only good for #38.

What does it all mean? I'm not sure. I'm no expert, but Elliott's boost from Idol seems to be comparable.

georgiafan1 - May 22, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
Great news! Thanks for the figures. That is more than a 100% increase. I believe that Elliott will go Gold. That's pretty amazing for an Indie artist. Heck, he's already sold more than most Indie artists.

Congrats to Elliott and his team.
