Description: Anyone else?

mike83 - May 21, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
The website is lagging very badly and I'm on a 10mbps FiOS connection. Anyone else having issues?

E4me - May 21, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
Same for me with the same fast connection.

GypsyNFla - May 21, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)

it's sporadic...up, then down...up, then down....

blossom - May 21, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)
Well I have dial-up, but I never had that kind of problem before. I have a question: What happens with all those old replies, there are well over 100,000 replies. Could this be the problem?

Linda4Elliott - May 21, 2007 10:59 PM (GMT)
yep, very slow for me, too...I have cable modem....sometimes the page won't load at all

MoNk3y_Fr3aK92 - May 21, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)

nanassetta - May 21, 2007 11:08 PM (GMT)

lovinelliott23 - May 21, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
I have broadband too, but it's slow as well. Right now it's going faster, though.

frannibeth - May 21, 2007 11:49 PM (GMT)

That's what I'm wondering about. I'm not having any trouble at the moment.

Okay, I jinxed myself. It's now moving sloooow and sometimes totally bumps me out of the site.

itslate - May 22, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah, it's an off and on problem with this website... better tonight. I have comcast and a fairly new computer. It must be this server. I usually can tell it's the website by opening up other web pages with no problem.

cxiong - May 22, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
It was definitely much slower a few hours ago. But now its running pretty fast.

ladycentaur - May 22, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
This seems to be an ongoing problem...as well as the search not working. If those running the site need technical assistance I could probably help out. I've been building web sites since 1999. I was even a webmaster for one of Howard Dean's presidential campaign regional office website, which I put up and updated.

ohioguy45780 - May 22, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
it's actually faster now than it has been in ages....

thanks LC. mcornelio is the resident techie on here but he's been a little busy lately. if the problems continue to persist and MC is still out of commission, i might take you up on your offer sometime. :)

I'm not looking to take over anyone's job...just offering to help out if there is a need. How much anyone can do really depends on the server set up. Based on the google ads I'm assuming that the forum is a free remotely hosted forum that the domain name is pointing towards. IF, at any point, you guys want to have complete control over things I know how to install forums, content management scripts and just about any php script. So if there is ever the feeling that the E-Train has outgrown the current set up, don't hesitate to let me know and I could really help out with that. I'm not sure if cornelio knows how to install php or deal with mysql...but it's not too difficult. If he doesn't I'm sure I could teach him easily enough. Just let me know if you ever need or want my assistance.

lothlorien - May 22, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
yes, it does currently run from a free remotely hosted forum. the agreement the mods and i had was to upgrade to non-free service once we take up 70% of the memory allocated to us. we're currently closing in on 50%.

no, nobody's taking over someone else's job. just that sometimes, there are small tweaks we need to make on the site and we can't reach MC to do it so it's either I do it (but i'm really no expert. i mostly make it up as i go along, hehe) so we'd love to have someone in the know help us along when the changes can't wait. so if you're ever around during those kinda times and no one else of the mods are around, it's good to know we can come to you for help. :)

ladycentaur - May 22, 2007 03:45 AM (GMT)
Okies...I'll help any way I can. When you make the move are you going to continue with the same host only get a paid plan or are you going to completely migrate elsewhere? If it's going to be elsewhere, that's where I could offer a lot of help. I can install php forums, content management systems and have them up and running very quickly using mysql. So if that's the route you plan on taking and you need to find a good host that will fit the bill and someone to set it all up just give me a yell.

I had trouble last night and some pages still won't open this morning.

I Love Elliott - June 9, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
All morning long it is taking a loooong time for everything to load on the E-Train.....

I am not having a problem with any other web-site.

Is it just me, or is anyone else having this same problem?

goelliott - June 9, 2007 04:35 PM (GMT)
Not just you, moving pretty slow for me too.

Ging - June 9, 2007 04:47 PM (GMT)
It has been very slow since late last night. I switched to FoxFire and it is a little better but still loads slowly.

lovinelliott23 - June 9, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
I always use Firefox, and it's been extremely slow for me all morning

Judy - June 9, 2007 05:26 PM (GMT)
Extremely slow for me too.....only on e-train

AvivaDove - June 9, 2007 05:30 PM (GMT)
Very frustrating!

jogr - June 9, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
It took me about 2 minutes to open this page - Etrain practically does not work for me today.

realitymom - June 9, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
Definately not just you. Like someone posted above, it got started loading slow last nigh & is still loading at a snails pace. And, yes, this is the only site I am having a slow loading issue on. :dammit:

girlygirl - June 9, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)
Slow for me too

emmy4E - June 9, 2007 05:58 PM (GMT)

Verrry slow for me today. Almost non-working. I went to text browser and still very slow. I can vote multiple times on other sites while waiting to load.
