Title: Simon Was Almost Right!
Description: his comment about Elliott
bigEfan - May 22, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
After a year now, and reflecting on Simon's comment that Elliott was "potentially the best male vocalist in all 5 seasons" I have come to the conclusion that Simon almost had it right. Elliot IS the best male vocalist to ever grace the AI stage. His voice and passion behind his music is almost impossible to describe. I enjoy many other vocalists but Elliott touches your soul. He touches that special place in your heart and makes it sing. I'll go out on a limb here and say Elliott is not only the best male vocalist of AI but also rates up there with the best of the best. He's only starting out but with a voice like that, how in the world can he not become a legend?

well, simon is not one to just hand out compliments like those so i've always believed that. i've also always believed that he was and is a fan.

Elliott's biggest assets are that he is not only a "natural", but is completely appreciative of his opportunities. This is what draws fans.

I agree that Simon has always been a fan of Elliott as well. After seeing him grow over the past year and seeing all the concert vids, I just had to comment on how I felt. Likewise, not only is he one of the most talented vocalist, he has the heart to match his talent. Not that I know him personally, but sometimes you just "know" and based on all the comments from everyone that has ever been in contact with him and of course his friends and family. I just adore his voice and what a humble, thankful, gracious and sweet man he is.

Great post bigEfan! I think you hit the nail on the head when you said Elliott will become a legend. I think he will become a legend in his own time. Everyone knows who you are talking about when you say Stevie, Mariah, Whitney, etc. People will just say "Elliott" and everyone will know who they mean!!! :rocker:

I just want to ask a question on this topic, that's been bothering me for a while...
of course we all believe that we're fans of Elliott partly because he's such a great person
but I like the voices of people who I don't know one darn thing about, too.
So my question is, does anyone know of any singer who started out with the potential for great things, but because of their lousy personality and disregard for fans, really screwed things up? Has there ever been a case like that?

SHERWOOD-- 2 COME IMMEDIATELY TO MIND...
TAYLOR AND KATHERINE.
chloewannabee - May 22, 2007 04:51 AM (GMT)
well 1 of those two came immediately to mind, and she doesnt have gray hair!
sherwood - May 22, 2007 05:52 AM (GMT)
LOL Hip, but IMO Kat didn't make it because other than a good face, there's nothing outstanding about her.
And I didn't mean contestant-types, I mean musicians who finally got into the limelight only to have it fade when people got a load of who they really were.
But I see what you mean!

I'll have to think about that one for awhile. Since I don't know E personally and have yet to meet him, it's still all about the voice....sigh.
Now that you brought it up, do you think we all would have took notice of Elliott on the radio if we knew nothing about him? I believe I would have.
We've now officially got off topic...lol.
sherwood - May 22, 2007 12:44 PM (GMT)
Interesting, Big, you're coming at it from the other direction. I think I would have noticed Elliott's voice, also. But how would he have got to the radio in the first place? There must be a whole heap of talent buried out there that will never be discovered, but that's life. the great thing is that Elliott realizes how lucky he is.
ETA Thinking about it, maybe I'm wrong. There can't be that big a heap. Elliott obviously walked into the audition and completely blew away the panel with voice alone. Perhaps if others on his level got to Idol auditions, it would be the same story with them.
chloewannabee - May 22, 2007 02:45 PM (GMT)
That is one of the things that annoys me about the show. There must be tons more people who auditioned that should have gotten farther than the ones they send through for comic relief and stupid ratings. If they want to bring back "the gong show" let them, but keep what is supposed to be a talent search, just that...a talent search.
I am certain I would have noticed Elliott's voice no matter where or how I heard it. The grabber was most definitely "Moody's Mood for Love".I was on my way out of the living room when I heard it, and almost got whiplash as I stopped short to really listen. That was it for me.

I have to say I agree that Katherine would fall in that category, but I think Tay's fans are still really dedicated to him. Maybe Kat's too. I just dont care for Kat or her personality. I think when AI decided to pimp Chris the other two especially Taylor's career has been hurt. And while Elliott is the only one for me, I think Taylor deserved better from AI.

i think that simon was right.
but that is just opinion.
many people dont like him.
many people like chris daughtry better.
but in MY opinion, hes the ebst

Hands down Elliott is the best vocalist...in the history of AI...male or female! I am glad that he didn't win, although last year I would have felt differently. His voice is amazing. It has such richness and depth...I fell in love with the voice first...the fact that he seems to be an incredible human being only helps. I can't off the top of my head think of anyone who's career was done in by being a voice and not much of a personality. But I will try.
