Green Day will be the surprise guest on American Idol's star-studded grand finale, airing Wednesday night, May 23, an Idol insider tells Star. The band will be the last act of the night, following Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and Gladys Knight. American Idol alumni Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and last year's winner Taylor Hicks will also perform.

Thanks for the info. Great lineup. But in my opinion, as a whole doesn't pack the wallop that last year's lineup had.

I have heard Daughtry is also gonna perform. Maybe because they used the song "Home" as the exit song ala Daniel Powter & "Bad Day' last year?????

That does sound like a great line up, much better than Meatloaf and Toni Braxton last year.

I'm very eager to hear Taylor. He should have been on there long before this. I always love Carrie. Kelly is great too. At various times, Simon has insulted all three. I wonder if he'll say anything to them. I guess his favorite winner, Fantasia is too busy on Broadway. How come Reuben is never on there? Last year, Clay was on there. What do they have against Reuben?

There's been alot of talk about Chris and Katharine coming back. I don't really care to see Katharine, but it doesn't make sense to have Elliott back and not her. Her being on there would boost her album sales and make money for their label. I'd love to see Chris back live.

I hope that Jordin and Blake aren't off key and off pitch like Taylor and Katharine were throughout both nights last year. They hurt my ears. Elliott was the highlight of last year's finale.

Kellie and Carrie are really using this to their advantage aren't they? They were already on once this year so I guess it boosted their album sales..lol.

Oh yeah and I forgot about Dollie..I mean Kelly Pickler...I heard she changed her look back. She must've gotten alot of slack for her last appearance.
