Title: So You Think You Can Dance
Description: Possible spoilers in this thread!

noira - May 25, 2007 12:08 AM (GMT)
Looking forward to a new season, I really enjoyed last year and look forward to some good shows.

Berkana - May 25, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
I just got home a bit ago. I turned this on, I don't know if I can sit through the auditions. Some of the dancers truly make me cringe. And enough of Dancing Derrick one minute was enough, don't ruin the entire show with him.

I did see Jaimie Goodwin (girl in purple top.) That is a promise. But I don't think I can sit through this until they get to like the Las Vegas bit.

when do they get to Vegas? I first started watching last season, but it was in the middle of the season so I don't know how the beginning rounds go..

I hope there's someone as good as Benji this year!

brwneydgirl - May 27, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
I can't wait till the auditions are over. That part gets boring for me. I want to see the actual competition part. I loved Travis the most last year. My other faves were Dmitry, Allison, and Heidi.

Benji, Travis, Allison, and Natalie, were definitely my favorites.

And EC! So glad you are back this year! My mum says auditions usually last three weeks. That's what she remembered.

I don't usually watch the auditions, I partially did last year, but missed a lot of them.

AgentScully - May 27, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
I'm not necessarily interested in the auditions either. Though, I did not watch the whole 2 hours of the show, I did find a couple that I liked in the first hour. But, I forgot their names. It was a guy and and girl. They were fabulous!
I intend to make it a point to watch every week regardless of the auditions now.

pdlvne - May 28, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
I missed it last week. I usually like the show, but yes I agree some of those auditions - YIKES.....

Berkana - May 29, 2007 11:31 PM (GMT)
This year, I know of three dancers who are a definite in the top 20. One is one my idols. (Had a stay at the ABT, the other is, well you'll find out. :))

I've had two idols in the dance world, well besides Ethan Stiefel (Who is cayute!), those are Nina Ananiashavilli, and one that's made it onto this show this year.

I am super excited, because this guy (Who I won't mention until I put spoilers on the end.) is amazing at what he does, and you'll get to see it on the show. WHICH IS WOOT AMAZING.

Okay spoiler time:

Edit: I didn't know we could write in white!!! Okay spoilers are in white:

Danny Tidwell, and Lacey Schwimmer are definites for the top 20. Danny some of you may not know was part of the American Ballet Theatre, and is also Travis Wall's adopted brother. Lacey is Benji Schwimmer's sister. Jaimie Goodwin is also a definite, I met Jaimie as a part of the traveling troupe. And she's pretty amazing, too.

ElliottCat101 - May 30, 2007 06:13 AM (GMT)
Okay, the following is written in white type and is about Berkana's spoilers:

Those people are for sure in the top 20?! How strange/cool if Benji and Travis both have siblings on this year!

YEah spoiler time: Stanislav's sister also supposedly made it. I'm not definite on that one, just Danny because of my ex dance friends, and Jaimie, and Benji's boards are going rampant with Lacey news.

haha how strange! It will be fun to see if it's true! :rocker:

...so the Vegas rounds should start in about two weeks then?

noira - May 30, 2007 11:58 PM (GMT)
I am not a huge fan of the auditions but I guess they are part of the show as it unfolds.
The most annoying guy was sex is back or whatever, he made me cringe, yeah , sure, follow your dream, but eh...
Last year I liked Musa, Dmytri , Travis and Ryan ( was in the minority with him lol).
Show is about to come on here.

I feel bad for this Erik EJ kid, he wasn't that horrible. And the way they looked at it for his weight. I thought the whole thing was totally uncalled for.

They brought up the excuse he danced like a girl, just too not put him through.

He does look awkward because of his weight, if he sheds it I think he could be passable.

CanadianFan - May 31, 2007 01:04 AM (GMT)
Wonderful that this thread has started again -- loved the show every year and do NOT miss an episode. (This and AI last year, just for E). This is my only outlet for blathering on about my fave show - so please bear with me.
I wade through the horrid auditions in hopes of catching a glimpse of the good. There are too many cringe-worthy moments -- the deluded people auditioning, and the judge's needless cruelty. Ugly Betty comment was really mean.
I wonder if that young female dancer who left last year with an injury will appear? Nigel had said she had a place to come back to next year.
We would be very lucky if another Benji appeared -- his fluidity, talent, and personality made him pretty unique. He sparkled. Has anyone heard anything about him?
Another winnner like Nick (it was Nick, right -- my memory is chancy!) would be fine with me. He was brilliant (and very handsome).

You are in a welcome home here! We love to have people to gab with especially I do.

And I love Benji.

From what I've heard which isn't much because I could be wrong, was that Claire Callaway the girl who was injured last year, was married and had a child. Which stopped her from auditioning this year. But I know not the truth to it.

CanadianFan - May 31, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
I had a great time in here last year so I'm looking forward to lots gab again. Claire Calloway sounds familiar -young, talented, blonde and pretty. Maybe her injury prevents her from dancing. Or her priorities changed on becoming a mom.
Whatever her story, I hope it's a happy one.
Benji's probably off doing charity work again. I think he is another "good soul".

pilatesmom - May 31, 2007 06:02 AM (GMT)
I love the blond woman with the prosthetic arm. Great personality.

Olivia, the woman whose mother had a lump.

This is so much more entertaining the AI6. So far.

Nigel was such an a-hole to him. I mean, if he's not what they're looking for that's fine, but I didn't see any reason to laugh in his face and try to humiliate him. I thought he was decent. I can't do a split, so I admire anyone who can, and he did have some musicality. I remember the guy last season with the ribbon who Nigel humiliated and said he was like a girl or whatever. Nigel is not the most masculine guy out there either.

I said Don't tell me. I am really bummed now -- bad enough knowing I missed seeing his cute smile - but missing his dancing really makes me sad. And to think I've sat through 2 nights of horrid auditions and missed the one shining moment. Why did they have him on?? I need details!

harleywoman - June 1, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
I really liked the clogger, Brandon Norris, from last night and also the football player turned dancer. I was glad that Shane possibly has something for the little "robot" guy.

He danced with his sister for her audition. His segment was so funny. Try here:

this last show was actually pretty good.
A lot more good auditions than bad.
What about that older looking latina , she auditioned with her brother, kind of heavyweight.
She was only 23 but looked much older, she surprised me to be honest.
It was great to see Hok again and the other couple of street daners they let through.
The guy with the spinal curvature about mesmorized me, that was truly fantastic. I hope he finds his niche somewhere.

CanadianFan - June 6, 2007 08:27 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the link Harleywoman. I missed a lot when I didn't watch the Wednesday show -- I would have loved to see Hawk again. Does he finally have his American citizenship? I know that's why he couldn't compete last year and I was disappointed as I thought he was fantastic. Looks like it will be a great year -- there's lots of talent out there.
And I do hope Shane comes through with his offer to the "Robot" guy.

CanadianFan - June 8, 2007 06:20 AM (GMT)
I was happy to see that Hawk made it. There are some pretty incredible dancers on the roster. I felt bad for that last girl when Benji's sister was picked. I wonder if being Benji's sis worked in her favour. She was the only West Coast Swing dancer wasn't she -- maybe that's why.

you know, they went on and on with Lauren (the girl who had been Tyce's assistant last season) about how they were afraid picking her would show favoritism, but she was really good so they were letting her through - but would be extra hard on her....But with Benji's sister, they never once mentioned the fact that it might seem like favoritism, but told her that she was barely good enough and it was a really close call...I think, since it was such a close call, being Benji's sister might be what pushed her above the other girl. I think she is an amazing dancer, but I truly think being Benji's sister helped her at least a little.... But I like her, so it's all good! :P
I also liked the girl she was up against, and was sad that she got cut.

I thought Caitlin was really good, and was sad to see her cut.

I'm glad Hok made it through - I really like him! I also liked Kameron and that guy that the judges said was so strange. LOL

Berkana - June 9, 2007 01:18 AM (GMT)
Well if we remember last year, Benji didn't originally make it into the top 20. He was only put there after someone got injured. He was the first alternate, and he came back to win.

And I'm super excited for Ricky!!!

I'm also excited for Danny, Lacey, Hok, Jamie, Lauren, Pasha, Kameron, and Neil.

It's been forever, but I didn't remember Danny as ever being as arrogant as they made him out to be. But it might be that we have another Blake on our hands.

Edit: Who I am not excited for? Baby Oil Girl. (Jessi Perrallta.)

yeah, I guess it's because she isn't that good -- but the judges act like she is! drives me crazy!

What was the name of the guy that the judges (basically) said "You're good at the one thing you do, suck at EVERYTHING else, but we'll let you through anyway"?

harleywoman - June 14, 2007 02:51 PM (GMT)
Okay, I have to say that Lacey and Kameron were awesome last night. That was an intense beautiful dance. I'm loving those two together.

Berkana - June 14, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)
I had to record this so if I skip a couple lemme know.

Jaimie/Hok-Hip Hop- That wasn't very good. The routine seemed to be so watered down for Jaimie, that it came off very disappointing for me. Hok wasn't really allowed at all to shine, and this was his own genre! It wasn't awful but it wasn't very good. Jaimie is a tough worker but some of her free moves were pretty bad.

Danny/Anya -Jive- Anya is amazing. I would totally switch teams for her LOL. I was actually sort of disappointed in Danny in this dance. You can tell Danny is a ballet dancer, because I noticed a few times where his feet were pointing in the wrong direction. And overall the dance didn't seem very jive-y to me. AND WHO THE HECK PUTS SUCH A CRAPTASTIC SONG TO A JIVE DANCE ANYWAYS?

Lacey/Kameron-Contemp- I'm totally biased but I'll try not to be. I loved this dance absolutely for the emotion. I thought emotionally it was outstanding, and physically the two make an awesome super!hot couple. I want to rewatch it again, but I do have to mention Lacey's extensions were a bit flaily. I don't know if that is entirely what Mia wanted as part of it, or if they was Lacey's own shortcomings. Kameron is hawt hawt hawt.

DTrix and Sabra - Disco- Feh I hate Doriana "crotch-shot" Sanchez. I do believe she is the worst choreographer they have on the show. Minus Cicely and Olisa, and Todd Sams from last year. I think the pair did well withwhat they were given, which is usually always a lot of tricks. Sabra I'm suprised is very good, she is also very likeable and I can't wait to see her in her own genre of dance. I thought D'Trix was adorable for the first time. (I didn't like him in earlier rounds.) I do they think pulls and footwork were a bit sloppy though.

Pasha and Jessi- I was sad with this pairing. Poor Pasha gets stuck with baby oil girl. Pasha is amazing at what he does but I'm more excited to see him dancing something like contemp, or jazz. Jessi is okay but again she didn't have a certain grace about her.

Ricky and Ashlee- Oh poor Ricky. This dance was so unbelievably bad and awkward that it was like watching a train wreck happening. There wasn't a point in this dance that I really saw a winner in either one of them.

Cedric and Faina-This was also pretty bad. Not because Faina was counting by numbers but I didn't like the routine itself. In fact I got bored with it and started fiddling with other things while it was on.

Sara and chuy- This visually was spectacular, but alot of the dancing in it was a bit weak. They were more often then not out of synch and a few of the turns were sloppy.

Jimmy and Shauna- I was bored I kind of turned away. So I can't comment on this one.

Neil and Lauren-I don't believe this was as bad as they said it was. I mean it wasn't worse then Ivan and Allisons club salsa last year. But do I believe Lauren will be as good as Allison? No not at all. I don't see what Nigel is talking about. I like Neil I find him adorable but I was a wee bit disappointed.

Best of the night: Lacey/Kameron (Because I was all emotional, not necessarily because of the superb technique lol), and Danny/Anya (Because Anya is hot, and Danny was one of my idols lol.)
Worst: Ricky/Ashlee (That was awful.)

Edit: I forgot to mention Wade Robson as part of Sara and Chuy. Because Wade needs to be mentioned at whatever he choreographs. Same with Mia. Man. I love Wade. Wade I think totally saved Sara and Chuy and put them in the rememberable and not forgettable place.

CanadianFan - June 15, 2007 12:26 PM (GMT)
Whew - I finally got my computer back (daughter had a school project on the go).
A disclaimer -- I am not a dancer (but both daughters took dance for years) so my opinions are based on amateur observation and emotional connection. And I had to use this smilie -- so cute. :dancers:

I was a bit disappointed in Hok and Jaimie (tho I love that she spells her name like my youngest). They were alright. Cute couple.
Anya and Danny -- I really liked her. He is almost too light on his feet for this dance, you can tell he's a ballet dancer.
Lacey and Cameron -- great routine, great chemistry. Was a real crowd favourite (maybe some Benji love behind the crowd support?)
Sabra and Dominic(?) -- it was decent. I thought he did well for a breaker.
Ashley and Rickey -- total dismay. I think Rickey got shafted. Who picks their partners, and why did they put the tallest girl with one of the shorter guys? There were taller men she could have been partnered with. Rickey did not get to show off his amazing skills at all.
Sara and Jesus -- lucky pair to get a Wade routine -- love love love all he does. I thought they were
fantastic and so in character. Good pairing.
Jessie and Pasha -- he is so smooth -- she benefitted by being his partner.
Fiena and Cedric -- he's great -- she was definitely out of her element. She also looked sour -- not a winning personality.
Lauren and Neil -- I liked these two and did not agree with the judges on lack of chemistry.
Shawna and Jimmy -- good partnership -- fun routine. I actually agreed with Dan -- Jimmy outperformed Shawna.

I notice no one has posted about the results show, so I will just keep my mouth shut in case some haven't seen it yet. I definitely do not agree with who they sent home. Maybe Mia had other plans for them??

realitymom - June 15, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
Well, I am in the minority here, but I loved Hok & Jaimie's routine. Yeah, it wasn't perfect, but no one is ususally perfect the first night (if ever). Being a woman of tall stature, I like seeing Ashley taller than Rickey. He should not have been in a long jacket (made his legs appear shorter than they are) AND Ashley didn't need to be in 3 inch heels. *Sigh* I didnt think their routine was that awful at all.

I agree with Ashley leaving, simply becasuse her solo was the weakest. Altho, Faiena should be gone next week if she performs as poorly then as she did this week (solo included).

I did not want ANY of the boys to leave, as I loved them all. But, I felt DTrix should have left based on his solo, although, hyocritically, I didnt feel DTrix & Sabra deserved to even BE in the bottom 3. :poke: It just looked like DTrix was repeating the same move over & over in his solo (which apparently the judges noticed as well). I dunno, all the boys were great overall, so a guy leaving just sucked period.

As for Benji's surprise jig... Wasn't that impressed, except for the flag boxers display...that was funny as hell!

ElliottCat101 - June 15, 2007 05:17 PM (GMT)
I told my family last night "If Rickey's in the bottom 3, the judges will send him home"... Sure enough, I was right!
I think Rickey's elimination proves that the judges were not basing their decision on the solo's. Dominic did ONE TRICK his entire solo, and when he wasn't doing that trick he looked like a lost child that didn't know what to do, but the judges decide that Rickey is the one that did not show us enough moves???
Nigel said he felt bad for any girl stuck with Cedric because he can only do Hip Hop, but then retracted that statement after watching Cedric dance a HIP HOP routine with his partner? where is the logic in that?

While I do believe Ashley was the right choice, I do not believe Rickey should have gone home.
