Title: 5/30/07 - Elliott In Detroit, Mi
Description: Recap, pictures, videos

ChrelliottFan - May 31, 2007 04:44 AM (GMT)
Just got back from the Detroit show not too long ago! I'll be posting my recap, pictures and video in this thread sometime tomorrow. I'm exhausted!

itslate - May 31, 2007 04:54 AM (GMT)
Can't wait tap tap tap. Why is it we are the exhausted ones when seeing Elliott live? :awe:

EmJay321 - May 31, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)
Can't wait Nicki! Welcome to Etrainstation! I'm glad you joined.

alienhamster - May 31, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
I'm tired too.

But let me just say for now . . .

(1) Elliott is AMAZING live. I heard him go flat on maybe two notes the entire show, but he sounded STUDIO QUALITY on every single song he sang. "Take My Breath Away," "Livin in the City," and "Movin On" were absolutely outstanding. I dragged two of my friends there, and one of them turned to me amazed and commented on how strong his voice was.

(2) I LITERALLY RAN INTO ELLIOTT COMING OUT OF THE BATHROOM! One of my friends was hungry, so we went into this small restaurant around the corner from St. ANdrew's before the show. We were seated, and I glanced over to my right only to see Elliott there with Jamie (?) and an older couple. Totally surreal. I opted not to interrupt their dinner, but I figured I could catch him at the end of his meal. I had to go to the bathroom later on, and when I walked out, Elliott was walking right in. I had to say something then, so I said his name, he turned and smiled, I shook his hand and said (way too nervously) "I love you, I love everything you're doin', I'm about to go catch your show, etc." and he thanked me. Even MORE surreal there.

(3) I met donnygirl and Ebeliever at the show, and they were great. There were more Etrainers there, so I'm sorry I missed y'all.

(4) Elliott wore a Tigers cap for the show (well, for a good part of the show before he got too hot).

Cool recap Alien.

I loved how you saw Elliotth being normal in a restaurant and that you didn't have to rush his table in order to say hello. I'm really happy for you.

Aww Alien - that's a great story! And you handled it just perfectly - you deserved that encounter after all the work you do on this board. Did you mention your screen name to him? I know he would know who you are if he heard it .

That was maybe Jaime's parents with them ? - she's from Michigan. What a great coincidence that you chose the same restaurant!

I'm so happy you had the opportunity to meet Elliott. I love reading about these chance encounters with him.

glad you met donnysgirl she's a wonderful lady. There was a big group of Moosak ladies there also I hope that they all come and post about their experience. I wanted to go home in the worst was to that show but it wasn't in the cards for me.

Yaminilita - May 31, 2007 11:12 AM (GMT)
Sounds exciting so far and can't wait t hear more.

Did anyone notice that Elliott mentioned coming to Michigan again the 2nd leg of his tour in his blog from a few days ago? I wonder if that was an error. If so, I have family there and would probably make the trip to visit them and take in another show.

I'm thinking it probably was her parents as well.

Way to go Alien and I agree with Linda, you handled it well. I think you're the first to have a "bathroom" encounter.

nanassetta - May 31, 2007 11:35 AM (GMT)
Great recap Alien! You so deserved this! Thanks for all that you
do!

Linda4Elliott - May 31, 2007 11:41 AM (GMT)
Great recap, Alien....very kind of you not to interrupt their dinner, as I 'm sure alot of fans may have done. So then you get to meet him anyway!!!! Isn't he just the best!!! Wonderful, thanks for sharing :)

wowhesgood - May 31, 2007 11:46 AM (GMT)
Alien, I'm so thrilled for you. I'm loving the love and respect you showed Elliott. You certainly deserved the meeting! I'm counting down until the Denver stop!

PoorMe - May 31, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
Alien, I'm so happy you got to meet Elliott and I'm delighted that you were so respectful of his private time.

itslate - May 31, 2007 12:04 PM (GMT)
Great News Alien, you got to meet E! And unexpectatedly too. Yes I think you get an award for the oddest encounter, the bathroom.

Did you meet him afterwards? Did you ask him to request WFY? :) For all your work here, I'm glad you finally got ot meet Elliott!

Not sure what you mean by "did you ask him to request WFY" but wouldn't it be hilarious if Elliott called into a radio station and requested his own song. I think he should do that at all of these big markets that haven't played him yet.

:rotfl: Because he's on us all the time to request WFY ! - Why not Elliott too! :rotfl:

alienhamster - May 31, 2007 12:28 PM (GMT)
Ha, y'all are hilarious! Kagey, I think itslate was joking about how often I ask everyone to request here. I totally should have told Elliott to call into 95.5 and request his own song! LOL

Linda, I can't believe it didn't occur to me to say my screen name! I did drop that I was "totally aboard the Etrain," but I probably should have said that part. Oh well . . .

I do kinda feel like good karma or a higher power sorta guided that interaction there. We didn't have time after the show to wait around and meet him, so it was so weird we happened to be at the exact same restaurant at the exact same time before the show. (We were about the only tables there actually.)

It was such a great nite all around. I hope Ebeliever and donnysgirl got a chance to meet with him.

Oh! And I should give credit to Josh Hoge, too. He was really solid, a very good singer.

pdlvne - May 31, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
That was a great recap! Glad you got to meet E.

I have said this many times, and I'll say it again - I am a true believer that good things happen to good people. I am so happy that you had that encounter with Elliott, Alien. What a great story you'll have for years to come. And Elliott will surely never forget you! :rotfl:

Ste3007 - May 31, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
The show was amazing!!! That's really the only words I can use. Elliott and the band seemed to be having a blast, even if we all were sweating ourselves to death. ( I was talking to one of the crew members and he said that St. Andrews had enough cash to fix the air conditioning, but then they would have to make the whole building up to code and they didn't have enough cash for that...go figure)

Alien, were you in a yellow U of M shirt? I overhead you telling someone the bathroom story. How sweet that you ran into him.

Someone please ease my mind, Elliott didn't sign anything after the show right? My friend and I were waiting for my husband to come get us ( I may have told him show ended at 11 in hopes of meeting Elliott haha), we saw Elliott hop out of the tour bus and get into the van which took him to the hotel. Thats when most of the crowd left, but since it was only 10:30 my friend and I had to sit and wait for a while, thats when the roadie was talking to us saying how they bus didn't leave for an hour or so. Once we left, no Elliott, I had a thought, what if he came back from the hotel all showered up and I missed it. Course there were like only a handful of people (5 plus band members and Josh) left. I'm hoping that he stayed at the hotel and I didn't miss the chance to meet him. (Sorry that was a random story, but it's the closest thing I had that night haha)

For everyone going to a future show, both Josh and E put on an amazing show, you will not be disappointed!! :rocker:

Can't wait till he comes back to Detroit!

AMEN!!! and to be patient, because I do believe that everyone's time is coming, if it hasn't already!!

Wonderful recap alien, and it DID happen for a reason. For all you do, you deserved that!! Especially since no can actually understand how friendly, and appreciative E is of everything, and everyone, until they meet him for themselves. So glad you had a fabulous experience!!!

ChrelliottFan - May 31, 2007 02:30 PM (GMT)
My Detroit, MI recap

I called Monet (Elliott's manager) around 3:00 to see if she was going to be at the concert tonight. She picked up and told me that she was in LA and would not be at the show. She asked me if I had tickets yet and I said no, and that I was planning on getting them when we got to Detroit. She told me not to worry about it and that she was going to put me on a list for tickets and a guest VIP pass! I thanked her for everything and knew that this was about to be another great Elliott experience.

I left Toledo, OH around 4:00 to drive to Detroit. The weather was gorgeous but very very hot. I ran into some construction with stopped traffic for about 20 minutes. I finally arrived to the venue around 5:15 and stood in line. I was probably about the 10th person there. We were all so hot waiting in line. After Mike got to the venue, I asked him to hold my spot in line so I could find out some more information about our tickets/VIP passes. Elliott happened to be doing soundcheck so I watched for a little bit and then went to the bathroom. One of the workers saw me and told me I had to get out, and then I told them that I was picking up tickets and a VIP pass. He let me stay a little longer then.

When he was done, Oliver and Russell (guitarists) came off the stage and into the lobby where I was. They came and greeted me right away. They had remembered me from the Cleveland show and said it was nice to see me again! :) They asked me what I was doing and I told them that I was picking up my VIP pass and tickets from Monet and they're like "Oh yeah that's sweet. We talked to her earlier today and she said that you were comin!" The 3 of us headed back outside because they wanted to smoke.

It was about 6:30 and we were all still standing in line waiting for the doors to open. Some lady behind me started playing Elliott songs on her cell phone to make the time go by faster. Finally 7:00 rolls around and the doors open. Everybody started to pile in the venue. Mike and I didn't go stand in the standing room yet because we wanted to see what was going on with our passes. After most of the people were inside, we went back outside and saw Elliott just chillin outside by his bus talking to people, taking pictures, and signing autographs. After he was doing taking pictures and signing autographs for a few minutes, he approached me with this "OMG hi!!" face with his mouth open and he says to me, "Hey Nicole! Nice to see you again." and hugged me. I freaking DIED when he remembered my name. He was in a really good mood! We took a picture together, but I didn't have him sign anything because he was kind of in a rush to get back on the bus.

Jamie (Elliott's girlfriend) and her parents were there and I met them. Jamie's parents were really nice and Jamie seemed to be pretty nice. I was talking to her dad for a bit and he was pretty cool. We were with 2 other people who had passes on and he let them on the bus, so we followed behind them since we had the same pass.

We got back into the venue and got up pretty close to the stage. I couldn't see that well since I'm so short. I watched what I could of Josh's set. After he was done, I started to push my way toward the front. These 2 girls let me stand by them, they were so nice. I was about 2nd row dead center.

Elliott came on around 9 and the crowd went nuts. Definitely a lot rowdier than Cleveland. He was wearing the Detroit Tigers hat that the fan gave him when he was on the bus. He started out with "Alright" and was so energetic and had a lot of fun! I'm not going to go into detail about all the other songs because they're the same songs he sings at every city.

The concert ended around 10. I made my way back to the lobby where Mike was and we were debating whether or not to stay and see if Elliott was going to go back out to the buses. Then we remembered that he told us that they weren't going to stay because they had to drive to Arkansas. Jamie approached us and asked us if we had fun and enjoyed the show and we replied with "HECK YEAH! It was amazing." All in all it was a fantastic experience! I can't wait to go see Elliott on tour again.

Yeah I know. I respect that, but I mean if her parents let us on and told us we couldn't go past a certain point it shouldn't be a problem. Plus, Russell and their manager was on too so it's not like I could've done anything disrespectful/invade their privacy. I'm a true fan and remain calm in situations that usually don't happen to other people.

Yaminilita - May 31, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
Can't wait to watch the vids when I get home! Sounds like everyone had a blast.

About Jaime, I don't know quite what to say about that. I can see them (E & Jaime) not wanting fans on the bus, but you were told you go on. I guess the rules need to be layed out and understood by everyone involved with Elliott.

Wow! What an unbelievable story! I know you are a good fan, but for safety reasons a no fans on the bus rule is a good one. Not everyone can be trusted.

In which case, to be honest, Jaime really should have taken it up with her dad for inviting a fan on the bus rather than pretty much scolding the fan (it sounds like: blahblahblah-two-sides-to-every-story-cakes...), especially since it was so much after the fact.

realitymom - May 31, 2007 03:20 PM (GMT)
Sounds like you had a great time! You've had to awesome encounters with Elliott, you are definately blessed! :glomp:

As for the impromptu bus tour, to be fair, her parents (or dad) prolley didn't realize that bringing fans on the bus was a no-no. Sounds like a lil lack of communication. Seriously, could you imagine trying to brush your teeth & you have someone knockin on the door to tell you that they love you....other than your mom or g/f? :rotfl: Sounds like Elliott handled it well, as is typical. I doubt Jaime was jeolous, just concerned about Elliott & his safety...as well as his health. The bus IS his home right now, it is his only place to just unwind/rest/relax, so I imagine she was just trying to keep it that way.

So, no more bus visits ya'll....chrelliottfan (& a couple lucky others) got the one time pass for it!! (I agree though....how surreal that you were on THE tour bus with Elliott & crew! Wild.....)

Ste3007 - May 31, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the videos!!

How cool about the bus and him remembering you. :) That would keep me on cloud nine for like a year haha

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that next time he's in Detroit I get a chance to meet him and tell him to his face how amazingly talented he is.

wowhesgood - May 31, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
I'm thinking Jaime was really just looking out for Elliott's best interests and I appreciate her doing her best to care for Elliott. Her dad probably got an earful! LOL

Exactly Gracestreet, and Jaime's just human too. In fact if she replayed the event in her mind she probably wouldn't say that to a fan. Maybe she just thought that she needed to say something or was suprised that it happened. I'm sure we've all had moments where we said the right thing to the wrong person. She probably did say something to her dad later on. As far as a person being invited onto the bus and going on, I've met strangers and let them into my home before. I'm sure her dad's vibe was that we don't have a serial killer here from their chat. I'm sure if he sensed a completely insane obsessed fan he wouldn't have indulged the invitation to go onto the bus. No harm, no foul.

harleywoman - May 31, 2007 04:13 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry I don't see one thing wrong with what Jaime did. I on the other hand feel that it was wrong, whether invited or not, to go on that bus. To me that is a lack of respect. I'll probably upset some people with this comment but to me it had to be said.

ChrelliottFan - May 31, 2007 04:19 PM (GMT)
Thanks for all your comments. I guess Jaime was just trying to be protective over Elliott and his safety. It was a little awkward being on the bus but it was so surreal and a once in a lifetime experience. I approached Russell and asked him if Elliott was mad or upset by anything and if he felt invaded of privacy and he said no, that he said there was nothing wrong with what we did especially since we had the hookup from his best friend. Oh well, everybody has different opinions on how to view this situation.

ChrelliottFan - May 31, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
2 more videos added on the post w/ the videos!

amandarhea - May 31, 2007 04:29 PM (GMT)
Very good recap....Really cool alien you met him by the bathroom haha...very odd.

As for Jamie, she is so sweet, she was just looking out for our boy, im glad he has her there to watch out for him. I would have never went on his bus, unles he himself invited me there. The bus is like there home....you dont just walk into someones house. But it was just her dad, not really understanding the rules.

Etrainrider - May 31, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
I agree that the fan probably shouldn't have been let on the bus unless she was known by someone from Elliott, his band or his team. It sounded like she knew his manager. However it also sounded as though both Jaimie and Elliott had no idea this person was let on. She was abviously a fan with good intentions and no harm was done. I shudder to think what could happen if a sick or deranged one got on.

I do recall Elliott discussing an incident in an article or interview about a fan that made it onto the bus during the AI tour last summer. There was a lack of security and the fan just walked right on and found Elliott and Chris D. I remember him saying they all felt invaded because its their home away from home on the road. How would any of us feel if we walked into our home to find someone there we didn't know or didn't invite?

ChrelliottFan - May 31, 2007 04:36 PM (GMT)
I know Russell, Oliver, Elliott, his manager, and his best friend Monet. That's how I got on....
