Title: Milwaukee Recap

From Elliott_Yamin@yahoogroups.com
Wow. Elliott's concert at the historic Pabst Theater in Milwaukee last
night was AMAZING. He had us all grooving right from the start
with "Alright," then went on to do (not in order): One Word, Wait For
You, Trainwreck, You Take My Breath Away (one of my faves), I'm The
Man, Find A Way, Moving On and ended with A Song For You. He was such
a sweet guy, stayed afterward to meet and greet fans for almost an
hour.
Barbara (also from this newsgroup) and I, escorted by our adorable and
tolerant husbands, met up at the concert and were waiting in that line
for that very chance to meet Elliott afterward. And we both did! I
shook his hand and told him thank you for getting me through one of the
worst years of my life last year. He was a doll. I'm so glad I had
the chance to see him in person finally. It was positively ethereal!

PLEASE DON'T...
...be pissed at Elliott personally if you fail to meet him or get his autograph! I just read a concert recap elsewhere from someone from Milwaukee that was upset that the SECURITY people cut Elliott's line after 1 hour of signing CDs and shaking hands. This was AFTER he had already performed for over an hour on a hot stage, and , admitted by this poster, had a line that was a "complete snake" (meaning LONG).
While I know everyone wants to meet him, please know he is ONLY human, and can only do so much. He also MUST listen to his mangement and venue security people to keep his schedule. DO NOT TAKE THIS PERSONALLY. It really isn't his fault.
Also, if you DO get to meet him, don't occupy his time so much that others don't get the chance. A hello, a quick word, an autograph should make most content.

It is awesome to hear that Elliott's first solo tour is going so well. I have not heard one report so far of him having an off night...NOT THAT HE COULD!! Even if he lost his voice for a night he would be better than most of the singers out there today!! I have yet to see any "non-fan" reviews yet. I hate E being the best kept secret in music today. Maybe when he hits some of the bigger cities...although I would have expected to see something from NYC, Philadelphia, or Detroit.

Good advice OG - Not many artists would make the effort Elliott does to personally meet and greet fans.
wishesforelliott - June 3, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
My family and I were there last night as well. We couldn't stay for the chance to make contact with him afterwards as my sister is diabetic and needed some food. We got there early as well in order to get a favorable seat. My 96 year old mother insisted on attending so we had to get her safely in and the only way to keep her safe was for her to use her wheelchair so that presented a few problems as well.
The line for speaking with him was out the hall and down steps and there was no way to work our way back to the merchandise table so we just made our way to the elevators and left with good wishes to everyone for their golden opportunity to say thank you to him. I hope they expressed my heartfelt appreciation to Elliott for me.
The show? Well, it was everything I expected and more. He sang the list of songs to perfection. No lyric errors that I could detect. The show was late in allowing entry because his sound check was running late. He DID sing the NA at the Brewer game at 6 PM as I'd reported earlier and that put him behind a little. Josh did his lead-in and he's great (no Elliott mind, but a gifted artist non the less).
Jaime was there as well (in the wings) and she followed his every word as he sang and showed so much love and excitement during his set that whenever he glanced over at her he couldn't help smiling.
My only concern is for Elliott's health and hopefully he's getting the rest he needs. He gives so SO MUCH each and every performance. Then afterwards, he makes every effort to show his appreciation to fans by coming back and signing autographs and getting pictures taken. Maybe someone with influence can protect him from himself a little? My selfish wish is that he is around for a long, long time and doesn't burn out physically or mentally. :awe:

LOL - you are so funny Rick. Don't feel bad - most of entered the world of message boards just a year ago and when I started - I didn't know what any of the common abbreviations were! :rotfl: (like rotfl)
Rick1965 - June 3, 2007 03:17 PM (GMT)
I know...I am awful at abbreviations...I can't even get the song ones...I have to get the cd everytime I see one...and there aren't even that many of them!!

:rotfl: :::laughing at myself::: I've done the same thing with the songs... CD is right here. You'll get it after a while.
RE encounters: each of my encounters has been very brief and patient :). As I have like you all worry about his health. Afterall I've been exhausted just trying to keep up with all his interviews and appearances, I can only imagine how he feels. But I do want to add that when he meets with his fans he is so giving and yes, I think energized by the meetings. He appears to be enjoying them as much as we do. (anyone agree?) Thank goodness he does have his staff telling him it's time to cut it. Hopefully get some rest.
I just wanted to add that one of my friends, a Chris fan, says she has yet to meet with Chris at two small venues since "he made it big". I'm not sure if it's because he is being mobbed by his fans, or something else in his personality.
I hope you all get to meet Elliott, if only briefly.

Attended the Milwaukee concert and it was absolutely amazing. Really high energy crowd with a club-like atmosphere. SOLD OUT - approx 1,345 people - I heard people turned away at the box office around 7:30 p.m. - show started at 8. Josh Hoge did a great job and was well received by the crowd. Elliott's set was amazingly high energy and his voice was in great shape. He did seem weary. The wait between the set and the encore was longer than usual and I was worried that something had happened to him but then he did come out and do A Song for You.
After the show, we happened to be lucky to be standing near where the line started and decided to stay for hopes of an autograph. After about a 45 minutes wiat, I got to MEET HIM! He is as wonderfully gracious as everyone said. I told him I loved the concert, congratulated him on his success, and said to take care of himself as he looked weary. He said he was and thanks for mentioning it. So thoughtful! And he signed the insert for my Elliott Yamin CD.
Per your hopes OG and others, the autograph line did move along quickly and security was right at the table where he was signing. I would say there were at least another 100 people in line as I left. Hearing that they cut off the autographs, I now feel especially lucky to have met Elliott.
Fabulous night. Even better than expected. :thud: :thud: :thud:
ohioguy45780 - June 3, 2007 07:02 PM (GMT)
wow...1,345 people!!... I had heard it was sold out, so that's awesome. Methinks he needs to revisit your city on the next leg of the tour!
Linda4Elliott - June 3, 2007 07:43 PM (GMT)
Many thanks to Wishesforeelliott and yammerin2...I LOVED both of you recaps. I'm glad Elliott has wonderful support from his girlfriend. I'm sure it does him good to have her there.
My prayer is health and strength for Elliott. I hope he gets a vacation after the tour.
Also, I love hearing that the concert was SOLD OUT!! :awe:

Great stories from Milwaukee. Do any of you who were there have pictures to post? I am starting to get more volunteers to post their stories on my web page and I would love to be able to get one up for Milwaukee within a day or two.
The link is in my signature.

Thanks for asking, Efan2. She LOVED it! She has a copy of his CD and thought he sounded better live.
What was funny - she had taken a pair of ear plugs in case the music was too loud but once Elliott started singing, she forgot all about wanting to block some of the sound! :rotfl: We are intending on driving down to Chicago to see him there when he does the next go 'round. In fact, I'll move heaven and earth to see him every time I can make the show without needing to stay over.
Oh, and I talked to a few people about the Etrain as well. I hope they look us up.
I'm waiting for my pictures to be sent from my daughter. I used her camera and almost lost it to security because they thought I recording. Silly men.... why would I do that??? hmmmmm?(But they did prevent me from getting a full song, so all I'll have to share are some stills.):poke:

Really - whether or not every show is sold out - this is a well selling tour, which bodes well for the future. Not many new artists start out with their own headlining tour (especially independent ones) and most play to partial houses during the first years of their career. Elliott is once again exceeding expectations, so don't be disappointed if a few shows don't sell out.
