Title: High On Elliott In Portland!
Description: My Belated Recap

HighOnElliott - June 14, 2007 07:09 AM (GMT)
Friday night I prayed at the Temple of Ephraym........ Ok. So I've had this username for over a year now, and I am finally posting for the very first time! Always a lurker, never a poster, I figured now I finally have something valuable to contribute to the E-Train family. I must say that E-Trainers are a very friendly bunch of people, due to The Man that brings us all together. My beloved boyfriend and I arrived at Roseland at about 5pm. As we neared the theater, I told him I wasn't planning on standing in line yet, I just wanted to see where the entrance was ahead of time. Well, as soon as we got to the door, there were a few people there already, and as we already know, E-fans bond quickly. I could hear Elliott singing inside, doing a sound check. So, needless to say, I never left the doorway! My sweet boyfriend was hungry, and since I had already eaten earlier, he was generous enough to leave me with my new friends, and walked to Chinatown and ate by himself. He has always indulged my Elliott needs, and this night was no exception. He took lots of pictures for me, and as soon as I figure out where to put them, I will share those too. Although I have never posted here before, I know how important the E-Train is to Elliott (like his home in motion), so I made a t-shirt that he could read easily while on stage. In big letters with glow-in-the-dark paint, I painted "E-TRAIN" and below it I painted my username "HIGH ON ELLIOTT". I was carrying it when I arrived, but my new friend Jeanne told me to put it on. Moments later, we all turned towards the glass doors, because Elliott was milling around in the lobby with some of the guys. We were jumping up and down waving, and I did my best to show off my t-shirt for him to see. I felt like I was 16 again. While in line, I met lurkers and posters, Jeanne, Jess & her mom Patti, Amanda & her mom, and MistyluvsE. I had hoped to meet the other Oregon E-Trainers from this forum, but alas, another time perhaps. Jeanne lives in Portland like I do, and she was the biggest trooper of all. She has MS, and not only did she stand in line for over 2 hours, but when we got inside, she found out they had changed the stage set-up, and she would not be sitting in the balcony as planned. So, she stood between me and Jess, so she could lean against the railing in front of the stage with us. I figured she would be so high in the clouds when Elliott was on stage, that she wouldn't even remember she was standing. Anyway.......loved loved loved the concert! I shook what my mama gave me most of the time, but Little Ghetto Boy was crazy awesome to dance to. I really need a recording of that one! True Confession time......I did not think it was possible for anyone to take my attention away from Elliott, but I must admit that more than once, Russell did the impossible. DAYUM, that boy is hot when he's groovin up there with our E. It actually felt like a guilty pleasure to look at him instead of E. Although it was easy to do, since Russell was directly in front of me, with only a monitor between us. Okay, back to E. He really gets into a zone when he closes his eyes, which he did a lot, and I so wanted to look at those beautiful eyes more. I wanted to give him a warm fuzzy, so during a quiet moment between songs, I yelled "Sing Like Yamin It". He turned and pointed at me, giggled and I think he thanked me for the comment. I don't remember what he said, as most of the night was a bit surreal for me. The funny moment of the night was when he began to describe his next song (One Word), and Russell gently touched him on the back and pointed to the set list on the floor. He then giggled so so cute, and told us to hold that thought, and he began to sing a different song. My only real complaint was not Elliott, but the drowning out of his beautiful voice. This venue can seat like 1400 or so, but apparently due to ticket sales, they crammed everyone into this little room the size of a small club. Acoustics not great, and much of the time it sounded more like a party band, than Elliott with a back-up band. But no disrespect to his band. They were tight and sounded great, and again, Props to Russell. Anyway, after the concert, we waited at the fence by the bus. Eventually, E came out of the building to meet his fans, including Jeanne, who was still standing! We had a gate between us, and as he signed my cd jacket, I asked him if I could touch his soft curls, and he sweetly obliged. When I touched his hair, he said "Don't you want to touch Russell's hair too?" Of course I said yes, but Russell didn't hear me, so he went up to E and started touching E's hair and said "I touch Elliott's hair all the time" and we all laughed. While I shook E's hand and thanked him, by boyfriend piped in and asked E if we could have a picture. E said he needed to stay behind the gate for the pic, but we noticed a gap where E could show his face, so I crouched down beneath his sweet face for the pic. We also took a pic of Jeanne & E. God I love that man! We said good-bye to fellow E-Trainers and I yelled good-bye to Elliott one more time as we walked away. I hated to leave him. I wish I could re-live that night a few more times so it could sink in better. My hometown will never be the same. My boyfriend said if he could describe Elliott in one word, it would be "Gracious". Thanks for your recap and for posting! I enjoyed reading it. How soft are those curls? I also agree with you about Russell. When I saw him in the Bowery, I noticed how into it he was too. I thought he was hot too!! LOL

Great recap, High. I'm glad you decided to delurk.

I really like what your boyfriend said. It is so obvious to us what kind of a man Elliott is; to hear it from someone who doesn't follow him like we do is a bonus.

The show was so Good!! That voice. I too feel like such a "girly fan" :awe: His passion and sincerity have me awestruck.

I didn't get to stick around to meet Elliott after. Babysitter. But I'm sure glad you did.

I'm watching for an announcement of him returning in August to any place close to Portland. I'm there, and I bet you'll be too. :cheerleader1:
