Title: I'm In Love With You Forever...
Description: Hidden message to Jaime

Rick1965 - July 5, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)
After last night's amazing performance of I'm In Love With You Forever...I played it this morning on my way to work...I have a 20 minute train ride so I just kept playing it over and over...and I noticed something I never heard before. I apologize if this has been posted before...but I do try and spend a few minutes here each week and have never seen the topic!!!

Towards the end of the song at 3:28 and again at 3:34...he makes this sound and then says...you are mine...

It's not a la la or a hey hey or a na na...I always thought it was some kind of cool, funky, scat jazzy kind of a thing...but listen to it...He says...Ja..a...a...aime you are mine...Ja...a...a...aime you are mine!!

Now I either I didn't get enough sleep last night or my obsession has crossed into the "Elliott is sending me subliminal messages in his music" phase.

Listen to it and tell me I'm wrong!!

You're not wrong. He DOES say Jaime. It was talked about a little bit back when the albumn first came out.

Although I like the song, I hope he doesn't release it as his next single. There are stronger tracks on his album that would be more successful, IMHO.

lindagt - July 5, 2007 01:56 PM (GMT)
You are absolutely right Rick - I noticed that a couple of months ago. It's definitely directed to her - this is a bonus track and he probably didn't think it would be released when he was recording it :elliottcap:

When I noticed it, I loved it, I thought how romantic. He, however, didn't put it in during the tour. I want me an Elliott. :awe:

Don't feel bad, I didn't notice it until someone posted about it. This is still news to a lot of people. Like I said it was talked about a little back in March. People won't remember, didn't mean to imply that you should have known. Me bad.

I knew he was saying a name, but it always sounded like "annie" to me, and I would wonder, why is he saying annie when his girls name is jamie? ... Ill go listen to it again....

On a side note, its also great for me to see that IILWYF is a favorite of so many. Ive seen a couple "favorite tracks" disscussions (not here on e-train) and Im used to seeing people name "WFY, OW, YATO, ITM, TW, WSOP, etc...) as favorites. Dont get me wrong, I love these songs too, but when I would read that, I would be saying to myself "y'all are TRIPPIN' !.....Nobody likes IILWYF?!?!?" Hands down this song gets the most play out of any of the tracks on the album (next to Train Wreck), and I listen to this album ALOT, lol...... I feel like its the perfect mix of old motown and funk but it still has a modern sound it, i love it.

However, I do agree that I wouldn't want this to be his next single... not sure that it would be a hit, especially following WFY.

chloewannabee - July 5, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
I , too also thought it was some kind of funky little skat type thing. When Lindagt came to New York, and we were driving to the Bowery, she pointed it out to me that it was actually "ja-a-a-mie" That's the first I knew of it
Thanx L

IILWYF is one of my favorites too (there are many though, just can't pin it down to one, LOL). I love that he personalized the song by scatting Jaime's name. What a sweet guy and what a lucky, lucky gal. :)

I LOVE THIS SONG!!

It's my favorite of all his new songs...after seeing him perform it live...that was it for me. I disagree with you on one point...I think it would be an awesome single. I think it's hip and funky and has a retro-vibe about it too. (I can't believe I just used hip, funky and retro-vibe in the same sentence! How cool am I??)

My only reservation about him singing it yesterday...is that if people run out to get the song after hearing him yesterday they won't find it on the CD since it's a bonus track only available on the download version. I wonder if his team is regretting that decision...since the reaction to it is so positive.

Maybe they had a side deal with Steve Jobs: Elliott will knock this one out of hte park on national television and all the viewers will have to go out and buy it from Itunes ... and we get a cut.

Truly, they're working so many angles that it wouldn't really surprise me!

iTunes is in trouble, Universal doesn't want to renew their agreement, and they represent a third of music out there, so nothing would surprise me.

Yeah, while I was listening to it, I admitted to myself.... This probably would be a good single to release, it just makes you dance, well, at least it makes me dance, lol...

I just dont think it would be a good follow up single to WFY. however, I am torn though, cause do think it would be great for his next single to be more up-tempo. So, while I definitely think OW will be a hit, i don't know if it should be next in line, cause then he might get pigeon holed. I'm thinking maybe a re-release of Movin' On???

But who knows.... for all we know, he next single may not even be on the album, he's always keeping us guessing.

I feel the exact same way GR8. IILWYF is one of my favorite tracks from the CD and has been for a while now. However, I didn't mention it because it seemed like no one else wanted to discuss it. It's a great track to wake up to in the morning. Right from that opening guitar riff, it puts you in a great mood.

True. Seriously, though, I find this whole situation weird. I don't see how Universal could possibly gain anything from actually pulling out, so aren't they just shaking Itunes down or something?

Anyway, I'll bet Elliott gets Itunes at least a few sales after that performance.

My only reservation about him singing it yesterday...is that if people run out to get the song after hearing him yesterday they won't find it on the CD since it's a bonus track only available on the download version. I wonder if his team is regretting that decision...since the reaction to it is so positive.

As much as I really love this song, I agree, it may not be the best single to release because it is a bonus track and the public may not know where to find it which could just backfire and tick them off.

you're not crazy or wrong... it's there.

shhhh...don't  tell the fangirls.....   :-)

I LOVE THIS SONG!!

I think it is an AWESOME song and would be a great choice for a single -- if only it wasn't a bonus track!

I wonder why he chose that song to perform yesterday, though...

It's light, It's cute, It's uptempo, it appeals to all ages - that's why he picked that one...perfect choice. I don't know why we didn't think of it :elliottcap:

How shunned can I expect to be if I admit that I HATE IILWYF, specifically the studio version?

Elliott performing it live is somewhat better -- looser, and Elliott can riff to his heart's content -- but it's still a schizo song if I've ever heard one: it starts off like a nice Stevie-esque retro jam (which I like) but the chorus? Sounds for all the world like a damn Jessica Simpson song and ruins the whole thing for me.

s'OK - we don't all like the same things - and lucky for us, Elliott gives us everything. I love it for what it is - but you are absolutely right , it is a cross between the two and the chorus is a bit bubblegum pop - but with Elliott's voice, so I'm not complaining. I still think it was the perfect choice for last night.

That combination is exactly why it would be a hit for him.........and should probably be the next single. Everyone is so set on "One Word" because Elliott said it was his favorite song, and I do love the song myself, but I really don't see it as radio friendly as everyone else does..............just because songs are great doesn't always make them radio songs....sometimes the sappy, light, bubblegum songs are what "average america" wants to hear.

The e-train has to introduce these people to caviar and champagne..........instead of nachos and beer........
