Title: Response To Naysayers
Description: America the Beautiful

AngELL - July 10, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
I just sent an mp3 of America the Beautiful to the baseball reporter from The Globe and Mail, who had denigrated E's performance of Take Me Out to the Ball Game last month....I think this is the perfect response to anyone who ever questions Elliott's singing ability, past, present or future....An impeccable performance, hard to gainsay even by those who might not appreciate some of the other genres in which E sings...That performance was just thrilling!

Ignoring them is a great response too. We don't have to prove to them that Elliott is great. Elliott is great whether they want to acknowledge it or not. Some comments are not worthy of a response. They don't deserve our time. We have voting to do. LOL.

I'm still tyring to figure out what was wrong with Take me out to the Ballpark. Some people just have no taste - the guy is porobably tone deaf anyway.

Nothin'. Just one guy who happened to have a pen.

I say we just be Movin' On from him.

AngELL - July 10, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
Well, actually, we got a lot of "good press" from him in Canada, if you believe in conventional wisdom that "any publicity is good publicity". He mentioned E several times in his column and also let it be known to his huge audience (Canadian national newspaper) that E would be singing at A Capitol Fourth. He has a big following (2,800,000 readers) and I thought he might be worth converting....

I agree too. I remember last time somebody emailed him an Elliott performance after the "uproar" he actually mentioned it in his next article, I know it was posted here... I dont remember the thread, so I cant say exactly what he wrote, but I do know it didnt make the fan base look too great, so consequently, Elliott was mentioned in a bad light. It also made the fanbase look like we can't let things go and/or like he needed defending (which we all know is not true)... It's just the nature of the entertainment world, Celebritys get trashed, just as much as they get praised....and being that Elliott is now a celebrity :rocker: (thats my first time using that :) )... we're gonna have to roll with the punches. Everyone isn't going to appreciate Elliott like we do, and thats ok... (acutally its really not, lol.... and i'd be the first one to tell them they are TRIPPIN'! ;-), but I digress) We can take comfort in knowing that anyone who actually meets Elliott can never say one bad thing about him! And that's not the case for all AI finalists or other celebs even. As far as his talent goes.....its speaking for itself and he's gaining new fans everyday =), so the naysayers can (and will) open mouth and insert foot !

I have to say in this case, ignoring them is probably best. We have been really, really blessed that there has been very little criticism about Elliott in the press - considering that if you are a celebrity, it goes with the territory. Gr8Music, you are a very wise young person :-) Anyone with ears wouldn't take him seriously anyway and anyone who doesn't like E is not going to have their opinion changed, because their opinion is not based on his talent - they have other issues bothering them.....

After saying all that - I get chills thinking of E performing this song on his USO tour!!!!!

Taratova - July 10, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
Actually I love when they post the name of Elliott Yamin. At least he is remembered.
I just wrote an E-mail thanking a writer who said that Elliott Yamin's fan base is over protective. You know what -I am. I told the Richmond writer I agreed with him and I am glad you included Elliott Yamin in your comments. And I also told him why I am protective . The reason-Elliott means alot to me. His character and kindness is so appreciated by me. It is a natural response.

Whenever there is a negative comment about Elliott I always give a comment back with a positive comment about Elliott .

When Elliott's song is played on the radio, people will remember the name and judge for themselves.
I have much faith that Elliott's voice is superstar quality so I keep plugging Elliott anyway I can. Elliott's sweet way and humbleness will explain why we are always protective of our Elliott. We all love this guy , how could we not!!

I agree, particularly with the part about Gr8Music being "a very wise young person." That was my exact initial reaction upon reading her post. :)

I believe in the Golden Rule-treating everyone as I would like to be treated...and do not feel ignoring people is a nice thing to do...The foundation of our own government in this country-a democracy-is based on discourse and dialogue, sharing information and opinion in a civilized way, premised on the belief that rational interchange of ideas and opinions CAN persuade people and bring minds to consensus--that's what our Congress and jury system are all about...all this ignoring other people that we see in this country of late has just led to extreme polarization and more hate!

Thanks, honey, for your support...I believe each of us should do as they are personally led in any given circumstance...each situation is unique!

I actually remember reading the letters of the fans who wrote to the writer of the Canada article . I was very proud of every letter printed and submitted because it mentioned every great facet of Elliott's life from his humble ways to his work with JDRF.

It actually put Elliott is the greatest of light and attested to the fact that Elliott fans are very articulate . I was very proud of every letter that was posted. Elliott does have the best fans .
