amandarhea - July 22, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
SPOILERS DONT READ!!!!!

Anyone else finished it yet....

im comepletly distraught. 2 of my top 3 fave people died.....

IM not goin to write anything else...ill just wait till others are finished. lol.

Berkana - July 22, 2007 11:22 PM (GMT)
OMG I'm so sad. Three of my favorite people died!

amandarhea - July 23, 2007 12:13 AM (GMT)
who was it for you?

I had to stop, and take a long break after Fred died....i love the twins with all my heart. I have loved them since the first time we met them...and she killed one im so mad.

And then next to all the weasleys my second fave character died. She killed Lupin...needless to say i think Nymphadora on here is goin to be upset as well...But how could she kill both of them. Poor Teddy.

Then ok kinda like a parallel i think

Ted is left alone in the world with nothing but his god father and his god fathers friends. Oh and his parents died in war as well. dno kinda werid.

So was it just me or not Harry's kids dont know that he is famous?

i was sad when fred died too =[

Berkana - July 23, 2007 12:22 AM (GMT)
Fred, Lupin, and Snape. I was the one lone supporter of Snape in my group of friends after the sixth book. And I think both his and Lupin's death were the saddest. Because, they were the ones who had essentially lost everything in there life. Lupin had finally found happiness and Rowling killed him off. Snape kind of died never knowing true happiness, besides the love he had for Lily. That was so sad. I cried for an entire day after reading that chapter. Oh and I forgot about Dobby! I cried after that, as well!

The entire book was mesmerizing, but I wish I would have waited to read the epilogue. And I wish she would have gone into more of what else was happening around the wizarding world, rather then just focusing on Harry, Ginny, Draco, the kids, Ron and Hermione.

pretty sure the dont read if you havent finished thing will get them...if they see that and read it and then go in they must be stupid...but yea haha good idea cause i know how some ppl are lol.

amandarhea - July 23, 2007 12:34 AM (GMT)
Yea i was upset to not see what happened with George.

Draco...im not for sure did he turn up to be a good wizard...i always pictured him becoming a good wizard after all. He did chose what was right, not killind Dumbledore, rather then what was easy which would of been killing him.

Even though in the end it was planned out that Snape would kill him.

I know Snape that was sad. I mean he had loved someone his whole life, and never had them. I loved that Harry named his son after the 2 of them.

I was so happy to see Percy back.

Dobby oh Dobby, i cried the whole time....i just couldnt handle crap im crying again.

Kreacher omg he was amazing. Leading the house elves into the fight...how awesome.(by the way the movie does him perfect justice)

I cant even begin to take this all in i cant wait to read it again.

I think im goin to start again from book one and go to seven and try to gain all the details of why things happened the way they did.

Did you think Hagrid was dead? I never thought he was.

Berkana - July 23, 2007 12:36 AM (GMT)
No Hagrid survived. He's mentioned in the last chapter. But man I'm gonna have to reread the entire series also. J.K. Rowling for a little while there was even making me mad at Dumbledore. And I really thought the Ravenclaw Diadem was going to be the tiara Fleur wore for the wedding.

Edit: I don't really think Draco was bad nor good, just a coward.

oh i knew he survived but, when she was tryin to make you think he was dead. did you truely think he was?

OMG i thought the same thing..i was like check Auntie Mueril or whatever her name was, check her teiara.

Yea, I was close to being mad at Dumbledore....but alas, Dumbledore always knows.

I love the quote bye Ron and Harry.

Ron: He must of known i would leave
Harry: He knew you would come back... thats not direct or anything but yea loved it...

OH and RON/HERMIONE finally...when i happneded i was like wait what...i had to re read it and then Harry was like um..guys we are in a war lol. LOVED IT

Berkana - July 23, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
I did too! It made me grin wildly at them kissing. But no I didn't think Hagrid was dead, I reread the bit about the spiders wrong. For a little while I had thought the spiders were fighting on Harry's side only to realize they weren't.

I felt sad at the bit with Xeno Lovegood. One of my favorite bits was when Molly Weasley went after Bellatrix, that was all kinds of awesome.

Edit: But hands down for me the part of the book that will remain with me forever, is when Snape is dieing, he tells Harry to look into his eyes, so he can see those green eyes of Lily's one last time.

amandarhea - July 23, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
oh yea NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU b***h...or something like that...

i was like HELL YEA MRS. WEASLEY

and Neville at the end...if it wasnt for his bravery i would say he is truely a Hufflepuff at heart. The loyalty he has for Harry is amazing. I really thought he might die, because of that loyalty. The trouble he caused at Hogwarts was great.

Oh and Ron (I just bought a shirt with him on it.) but i loved it. The book he got Harry for his birthday. Great..."i bet there is something in there about compliments" i loved it when Harry said that.

You could tell how hard he was tryin to please Hermione. And Hermione crying the whole time he was gone...i mean gosh you could tell they loved each other the whole time, but it was great when it finally came out.

Loved the kiss between Harry and Ginny in the begining and then Ron being all big brother it was so cute.

Oh i know i loved it...wait duh...crap im stupid...that is where JK said she would explain why everyone made a big deal of his eyes...wow...im so stupid. lol. I dno why i didnt catch that.

i would say my fave part of this book was R/H kiss....

and the whole Saint thing when George lost his ear.

amandarhea - July 23, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
OH and Hedwig...why did she have to die?

Berkana - July 23, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah the Holey George thing was hilarious. Out of all the characters I wish the epilogue would have gone into more detail with, it was George. I would have loved to have known what happened to George, especially after his twin dieing.

Edit: I kind of figured Hedwig would be gone, I though was kind of surprised at Moody being killed so early in the book.

amandarhea - July 23, 2007 01:18 AM (GMT)
yea i wasnt expecting someone to die that soon. ecspecially Mad Eye.

Yea, George had to be depressed for a few years. I mean they where..i dno..im depressed though. George is my faveorite twin..haha yes i have one. But It was hard to see Fred go...i was talkin to my friend who had read the book off the net before it was realeased and was like ill be fine as long as one of the twins do not die. I talked to him today and he was like i knew you where goin to be devestated.

I cant even imagine how sad that part will be in the moive...and they better put it inthe movie.

Speaking of movie...they didnt do the swamp and fireworks justice. But he was still good. I still wish they would of included Peeves in the movie.

Oh and poor Colin...im sad about him dying as well...to many people where lost. way to many.

Berkana - July 23, 2007 01:42 AM (GMT)
Omg yeah, George was definitely my favorite twin as well. (Besides I love The Phelps Twins, who play Fred and George.) And you are right I wish they would have actually included the swamp, instead of just fireworks.

It's gonna pain me to see not only one of the Phelps twins go, but David Thewlis (Plays Lupin), and Alan Rickman (Snape, who bytheway is also what got me into Harry Potter.) die.

I was a huge Alan Rickman fangirl (Have been since I was about eight years old. ) I had only read the first HP book. ( And I didn't care for it at the time.), until they released the first film. My parents told me Alan Rickman was in it, so I saw it and fell in love with Harry Potter then reread everything.

Yeah losing Colin was sad as well.

amandarhea - July 23, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
i was cryin during the 5th movie when they showed Sirius dying and Lupin holding him back....Daniel Radcliff has grown into a great actor. I still think Emma Watson out does them all but.

Oh I hope if they use the part where Ron and Hermione go to the Chamber of Secrets, That they say that it was Ron who had the idea to get the Baslisk fangs. Im so sick of the movies portraying Ron as a idiot..ok he isnt the smartest but he isnt dumb.

So i pictured Ron and Hermione to have more kids then what they did. I dno i was just picturing the Weasley's to have the usual big bunch following them. I wonder if George ever got married? I think he would marry Alica Spinnet...i dno though..

I was happy to see Oliver Wood back though. That was a nice suprise.

No, because I clicked on it from the main page, I saw "Lets talk HP" and I clicked it, I didn't read the little subline. Becuase I didn't have the option to read it :)

You are right, Amanda. I am upset! How could Jo kill my favorite characters? I wasn't expecting Fred to get killed!!! And she killed Tonks and Lupin, Dobby, Mad-Eye and Snape! Aaarrgh!!! But I kinda expected (not wanted) Snape to die. I think he just had to, to make Harry realize that he, Snape, is not really a bad person. I also knew that he killed DD upon DD's orders and not because he wanted to.

Me, too, Berk. I was kinda disappointed that it wasn't coz I can usually predict what will happen in the story, but this time I was wrong.

Not just the wizarding world. I wonder what happened to the Dursleys, if they and Harry saw each other again. I was touched by the scene where Diddykins left a cup of tea outside Harry's bedroom, which Harry thought was a booby trap.

MistyluvsE - July 23, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)
wow ia all i can say!
I have NEVER read a book as fast as i Read this one!!!

I am very happy with the book as a whole!
I am sad about Fred and Lupin and tonks.... and i actually put the book down for over 30 min after Dobby dies i was so upset. But i loved it and i am going to read it again and then start over from the beging!

Oh yeah... and WOO HOO for Kreacher! he turned out to be good afterall.. i was hoping for that! (and they did do an AWESOME job on him in the movie)

That was the sadest.
I hated how he didn't have love in his life. Other than lily.
And thinking back to the first book, how they all thought he was evil because of the stone?..

I liked Snape, honestly, why? I dont know, but I think Harry realized after that, He wasn't bad =[

Sad. Sad. Sad.
I wish Snape was still alive.

And FRED?! =[
But I didn't want this to happen, but it would have been expected and really shocking.
Having one of the main 3 to die.

And Ron and Hermione?!
I thought i would have been Harry and Hermione. =]
But everyone wanted that. hehe

merrr - July 23, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
Awwww man! Just finished reading the book this morning and it's already out of my hands (and into the arms of my friend who promises to cover it with plastic! LOL )

Anyway, I love this book. I especially love that my two pet theories were confirmed:

1. Snape was in love with Lily!
2. Harry is a horcrux! (what convinced me was that whole conversation where Dumbledore explained that a living being could be a horcrux e.g. Nagini)

Woohoo! And Neville rocks!

But my satisfaction in being right can't compensate for my feeling of loss... no more books to look forward to, and lose sleep over... I guess I'll have to content mysef with re-reading the entire series yearly.

chloewannabee - July 24, 2007 12:13 AM (GMT)
OMIGOD!!! You have no idea how much self control that took to open this thread and not read one word of it. I don't even know why I opened it!. I have not read the book yet, and I haven't heard anything about it except that 2 people are gonna die.
I'll be back in a few days.

amandarhea - July 24, 2007 04:21 PM (GMT)
Chloe my friend alot more then 2 people die.

chloewannabee - July 24, 2007 04:36 PM (GMT)
eeeeek!!!!

ElliottRocks06 - July 25, 2007 07:55 AM (GMT)
I for one loved the book! My favorite by far out of the series. When JK Rowling said that two major characters were going to die I expected it to be Hermione or Ron...

I like how it ended. I had no hope for awhile there at the end and then things turn for the better. I love the last battle scene with the good vs. evil fighting.

I really wish she would have put more in the epilogue however because I always have wanted to know what careers they all would take up afterwards and it doesn't show that.

I also love how Ron and Herminoe got together in the end. It was so cute! And Ginny and Harry were cute as well.

LadyB - July 25, 2007 11:03 AM (GMT)
I cried for the last 6 chapters of the book. I've been reading the series since grade 4 so I got really emotional. I loved the book though. Almost all my favourite characters have died through out the series: Sirius, Dumbledore, Dobby, Fred and Snape.
I was expecting Snape to die, but I'm still extremely sad that it happened. The part when he said "Look...at...me..." was so touching. He wanted to see Lily's eyes before he died. :(
WHY FRED?!?! I had to put the book down when he died. I LOVE the twins. Fred's death just shocked me completely.
Dobby :( I loved Dobby. I loved how Harry dug his grave and everything. That whole scenario was just so sad.

And...umm...what exactly was Ginny's gift to Harry?? I have an idea but considering the fact that this is supposed to be a childrens book I might be waaaay wrong.

SoulMusicRocks - July 25, 2007 12:12 PM (GMT)
This was my absolute favorite of the entire series. JK Rowling is a creative, intelligent, and complex writer that has shown a clear progression in the lives of everyone involved till the epilogues last page.

The most shocking moments for me were when Harry used the pensieve to go through Snape's memories. In particular, the one where his AUNT PETUNIA sent a letter to Hogwarts hoping that she would be permitted like Lily. Then after she was denied, she became bitter and hated those who could do what she could not. I always had a feeling it was jealousy that drove her to be so mean to Harry while staying with the Dursleys.

Also, it revealed a lot about Snapes connection to Lily and James. How complex it was, indeed. I guess this was why Snape aligned with DD, a sort of revenge for Lily by helping her son in the troubled times through being an informant for DD as to Voldemorts activity. It just was interesting to realize how the invisibility cloak had such a rich history and cool tale behind its existence too.

In so far as the deaths, all of them made me sad equally. It was so difficult to read those passages where they happened. I have to say, just reading a book rarely evokes an intense emotion on the spot from me. However, I found myself crying during the horrible moments and laughing at the jokes/sarcastic remarks people made throughout the book.

I have a feeling that the series is NOT over. Harry and Ginny have three kids. Ron and Hermione have 2, I think? There is your new generation who might have to deal with something or someone different. Rowling is being interviewed with by Merideth Vierra (SP?) on the Today show tomorrow in the morning. She kind of eluded to it not being over in the commercial :)

ElliottCat101 - July 29, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
oh my gosh! I finished it 6 days ago and I'm still so sad! I cried SOOO many times during this book - scratch that, BAWLED!! Rowling really knows how to move people.

It was a perfect ending, but I wish it wasn't over. I've grown up with these character's, and I'm so sad to see them leave.

Actually JK Rowling has given interviews and answered those questions.
This is from a web chat she did. You can read the entire thing here

Katieleigh: Does hermione still continue to do work with spew and is life any better for house elves!

J.K. Rowling: Hermione began her post-Hogwarts career at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures where she was instrumental in greatly improving life for house-elves and their ilk. She then moved (despite her jibe to Scrimgeour) to the Dept. of Magical Law Enforcement where she was a progressive voice who ensured the eradication of oppressive, pro-pureblood laws.

Blodeuwedd: Hi jk, first of all thank you for all the books I have enjoyed each and every one of them could you tell us what professions harry, hermione, ron, ginny and luna go on to have did the trio do their final year at school and take their newts who became hea

J.K. Rowling: Harry did so (just because Voldemort was gone, it didn’t mean that there would not be other Dark witches and wizards in the coming years).
Ron joined George at Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes, which became an enormous money-spinner..

After a few years as a celebrated player for the Holyhead Harpies, Ginny retired to have her family and to become the Senior Quidditch correspondent at the Daily Prophet!

Alicepie: What happend to luna, did she get married who to?

J.K. Rowling: She ended up marrying (rather later than Harry & co) a fellow naturalist and grandson of the great Newt Scamander (Rolf)!

Camille: How is george getting along without his twin

J.K. Rowling: Well, I don’t think that George would ever get over losing Fred, which makes me feel so sad. However, he names his first child and son Fred, and he goes on to have a very successful career, helped by good old Ron.

Lona: Did draco and harry lose their animosity towards eachother when voldemort died

J.K. Rowling: Not really. There would be a kind of rapprochement, in that Harry knows Draco hated being a Death Eater, and would not have killed Dumbledore; similarly, Draco would feel a grudging gratitude towards Harry for saving his life. Real friendship would be out of the question, though. Too much had happened prior to the final battle.

Hope that answers some of your nagging questions! :)
