Title: Book Your Room For Norfolk ASAP
Description: There is a HUGE convention in Nov.
Nana2160 - July 25, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone...I have been in search of a block of rooms close by the Norva. The only hotel close by with availability, is a historic hotel that has been recently renovated. It appears to be quite nice. Apparently there is a very large emergency medical convention in town that weekend...
(We should be safe!)
I have reserved a block of 20 rooms for us for Friday & Saturday nights. When you call...tell the reservationist you are with the "Etrain Group" They are giving us a rate of $72 plus tax per night (Double occupancy)However, there is a $15 per day parking fee two blocks away.
Find a roomie and book now!!!
The number is (757)623-6200 "Etrain Group"
Here is a link to the hotel...http://www.thetazewell.com/
By the way...Kelly's is completely booked, so I am unable to reserve anymore space for the pre concert dinner!!! However...They are open until 2:00am for a "Post concert" PARTY!!! We won't need to drive back to the hotel, as it is within walking distance...so everyone can kick it up a few notches and celebrate Elliott's return to Virginia!!!
harleywoman - July 25, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
Question, is there something going on Friday night that requires a hotel stay? If staying only Saturday night, is the block of rooms still good for that.

I know that now that the concert is on a Saturday night, there are alot of people planning to come from out of town as a mini "vacation". You don't have to book for both nights, I have only reserved them to ensure those that need them can get them. Norfolk is almost out of rooms! Especially to accommodate everyone in the same hotel. All reservations need to be made and confirmed by Oct. 8th.
There is alot to do in that area for sightseeing, There is a large mall nearby and you are only a short distance to Virginia Beach. (I'm sure the beach may be a little cold in November...But there is a boardwalk and stuff to do down there as well.)
There is "The Spirit of Norfolk" cruise ship that does narrated dinner cruises around the Naval Base area. If there was enough interest...We could maybe all take a cruise on Friday night. (Only a thought) I can possibly get a group rate through my company. There is usually entertainment onboard during the cruise.
Myself, I am planning to make it a weekend getaway! Working two jobs, I will be ready for it by November!!!
All comments and suggestions are appreciated. I am just trying to help people to make plans (Pray they don't postpone AGAIN) Like I said...I don't know much about the Tazwell Hotel...But Most of the "chain hotels" are sold out already!!!
So...Once again...Let the Norva plans begin!!!

I got a VERY good feeling from the girl that I booked with in group sales! I am hearing alot of good things about the hotel. It's historic...but completely renovated. A continential breakfast is included in the cost too!!! We can all meet for breakfast in our PJ's...LOL
pdlvne - July 26, 2007 09:36 PM (GMT)
Yes, the lady that I talked to so early this a.m. was very nice and ready to help.

Just made my reservations! Thanks so much Nana! :elliottelliott:
Nana2160 - August 2, 2007 03:43 AM (GMT)
I spoke to the reservationist today and we have already booked 8 of the 20 rooms...pretty impressive for less than a week!!!
I also found out that where they have the continential breakfast each morning on the 2nd floor of the mezzanine...We can "meet and socialize there" (at any time) as long as we don't get too rowdy!!! "Harley...you need to be on your best behavior" LOL
Also, another tidbit of useful information for anyone that may be flying into the Norfolk airport. The company I work for operates the "Airport Connection" If you need a transfer to the hotel it is $20...They will take you directly to the Tazwell.
I think it is going to be an awesome weekend!!! BTW...the hotel is only about 5 blocks from the "waterside" Apparently, it is somewhat of a tourist attraction with shops and restaurants along the water front. (Sorry...I have never been there) My plan is...Kick back, have fun and enjoy meeting everyone!!!
pdlvne - August 2, 2007 10:49 AM (GMT)

We have reservations for Saturday night. The lunch cruise sounds fun!
Nana2160 - August 14, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
Just dropping in to see who has made your reservations? and if they are for Fri and or Sat.? Also, it does appear there is a good amount of interest to take "The Spirit if Norfolk" lunch cruise on Sat.
Please let me know what you would like to do and I will make the reservations for us...BTW...They are giving us a VERY good rate for the cruise! It will make a nice relaxing "icebreaker"
Oh yea...I forgot to add...Rick has "volunteered" to do his stand up comedy for us while on the ship!!! Are you working on your script yet???
Rick1965 - August 14, 2007 02:53 AM (GMT)
If by my stand up you mean everyone watching me log on to the Etrain and posting to the threads then yes I will be doing my stand up.
Linda4Elliott - August 14, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
I'm a little confused  (nothing new)....When are the reservations for dinner before the concert? Is the cruise going to conflict with that? I signed up for the dinner and probably wouldn't make it in time for the cruise, so I guess I am just curious if the dinner is still on. I am probably going to make hotel reservations for one night only..Sat
Nana2160 - August 14, 2007 03:34 AM (GMT)
Sorry...I didn't mean to confuse anyone. The Spirit of Norfolk cruise is just a nice relaxing luncheon from 11am-1:30pm...The dinner at Kelly's begins between 4-4:30pm. It will give everyone time to "Freshen up for EEEEEE"
It was just something fun to do prior to the show...Kinda like an ice breaker...for those of us who have never met!!!

I'm out of the loop, cause I haven't been by for awhile. We're still doing dinner before the concert, right?
I live in Newport News and probably won't spend the night, but would love to have a least one after concert drink with everyone.
There will be 2 for dinner & the concert. What time is the lunch cruise and what's the cost?
(sorry, I'm being lazy and didn't read the entire thread to catch up)
FYI, I make a mean Peach Jello shooter.
Missy5 - August 16, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
I just made my hotel reservations for Sat!! The man said there are 11 rooms left. My husband and I are interested in the cruise. Can I get a ballpark figure on what the cruise will cost? :woohoo:
Oh, and by the way, I did buy a 2 gig memory card for my camera, so I don't run out of memory this time.
Nana2160 - August 16, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
Here is the link to "The Spirit of Norfolk" post...
http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=13280The Sat. lunch cruise is $29.05 per person...This includes, the cruise, a full buffet lunch and live entertainment. Alcoholic beverages are available...BUT not included in this price.
Will be a nice ice breaker!!!
Nana2160 - September 8, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
I spoke to my contact at The Tazwell...They are going to honor the $72 a night rate for anyone who may be planning to stay overnight after the concert on Sunday night. Please call to update your reservations...If you are unable to make the journey to Norfolk ,please be sure to cancel your reservation.
The Spirit of Norfolk "dinner cruise" for Sat. night is $43.92 (I think) per person. I still need to know if we have enough interest to do this?
Also, still have not heard from everyone who is still planning to join us for dinner at Kelly's prior to the concert. We have lost a few due to the date change...so there will be room for those who did not reserve a seat earlier.
I am looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone!
Theresa
