Well I'm still stuck on the idea that for his Christmas album him and Melinda Doolittle should remake "Baby Its Cold Outside" :thud:

"IOU" by Lee Greenwood. :awe:

"I just can't smile without you"

-originally by Barry Manilow

elliottcrazy - July 31, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
I would LOVE Elliott to record "The Closer I Get To You" with Alicia Keys...originally recorded by Donny Hathaway & Roberta Flack. I think it would be perfect.

chloewannabee - August 1, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
I have always wanted to hear him sing For All We Know-Donny Hathaway-or anthing at all that Donny did, they're ALL fabulous!

harleywoman - August 1, 2007 01:23 PM (GMT)
There are 2 that come to my mind. Both were done by Clay, but I would love to hear Elliott's versions because I don't believe I've ever heard these songs performed in a soulful way.

Bridge Over Troubled Water
Unchained Melody

JackieB - August 1, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
For total rhythmic station cred, how about:

Rock Me Tonight (Freddie Jackson)
My, My, My (Johnny Gill)

elliottcrazy - August 1, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
Oooooh...'Rock Me Tonight'..now you're talking. Good choice. Elliott would nail it.
I just listened to 'My, My, My' for the first time...holy moly.. :hot: :hot: ..I don't know if I could handle Elliott singing that :thud:

HUH????

I think that once Elliott started touring he his songs got a lot better. He was able to put more of his heart and soul into the performance. I would like to have him "remake" some of his albumn songs with that new found inner confidence and "voice" so to speak.

Oh I see what you mean.

I just think that even on a bad day Elliott has more soul in his voice than anyone and I think the version of Trainwreck on the cd is perfect.

I didn't mean to be defensive...I must have thought I was on a Katharine Mc Phee site.

You're right.

I guess I am just jealous of everyone who has seen him in concert and I'm sitting here watching U-tube clips of him wishing I had better sound. I want to hear that really amazing raw sound in person or at least on a CD. (Whiter shade of Pale came the closest for me.)

chloewannabee - August 2, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
OMIGOD!!!! Whiter Shade Of Pale!!!!!!!!
Listen to it with headphones!!!!!!!!!!

katirpet - August 2, 2007 09:31 AM (GMT)

Love the Ell and Mel Baby It's Cold Outside idea. I still hope that one day Elliott will release his version of Somebody to Love. I LOVED it when he did it on AI... he rocked!

I think it'd be great if he did one of those duets albums with Melinda and they did a bunch of the Hathaway/Flack duets.

Elliott!fan - August 3, 2007 09:52 AM (GMT)
Donny Hathaway's

"If Only For One Night" by Luther Vandross. Elliott would be amazing singing that song. (Especially if he recorded it early in the morning.)

Yeah, I totally agree w/ you guys! All GREAT choices and I too always imagined/hoped an Elliott and Alicia Keys duet.

hip-yamized - August 4, 2007 07:17 AM (GMT)
Elliott and Alicia Keys would be be fantasic. I think Elliott and Roberta Flack should do a duet in honor of Donny Hathaway.

wowhesgood - August 4, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
I'd really love thim to release ILYMTYEK, it just takes my breath away. Not a very original choice I know, but honestly, at this point I've decided that whatever Elliott would sing it would be awesome. He's done so many genres so well I'd have a hard time deciding. I'd also love him to sing some Bill Withers.
