Just wanted to get everyone pumped up for the forthcoming Christmas CD!!! Can't wait 'til October :)

Linda4Elliott - you were reading my mind! I just listened to this earlier today - a youtube version - and it does feel like it's time to get really psyched up for the new Christmas CD - i can't wait! thanks for starting this thread.

ETA: Elliott's voice is going to be perfect for holiday songs! What a classic CD it is going to end up being, don't you think???

I love River...It's a Joni Mitchell song that I have heard by two of my other favorite artists Heart and Betty Buckley...I have never heard it sung by a man...but if it's being sung by THE man then no doubt it will be brilliant. It really is an awesome song...if you don't know it here is a version by Sarah McLachlan...there's a lot of high notes in it...it's gonna be really interesting to see what E does with it

I hope Elliott includes This Christmas on his xmas album! Would really LOVE to have that on an actual physical CD! it is sooo da bomb!

James Taylor's last christmas album had it on there. He does a great job with it and also has an incredible version of "Baby it's cold outside" with Natalie Cole. The whole album is great.

The songs not really ABOUT Christmas....she just references that it's "comin on Christmas", etc. I love the song. My daughter used to sing it.

This is so exciting. October is just around the corner- can't wait to get a jump on my holiday shopping. I love the idea of Joni Mitchell's song The River on the cd-- I love how Elliott is always mixing things up- it should be interesting to say the least.

I love her version of that one.
