I wonder if they will have some down time to relax and do some site seeing. Montreal is an incredible city. I spent my adolescent years growing up there.

There is no place like it on the American continent. You get the sense you are in a European country, and a comment you hear from anyone who visits is that the women are beautiful, the food is fantastic, and there is plenty of wine.

And take it easy on smoked meat sandwiches, and poutine you will get hooked.

It is cold in November though. The boys from the South will need to pack their woolies and be sure to wear a toque.

I forgot to mention/caution:

If I have the correct Le National it is on rue Sainte-Catherine. A street full of history and incredible shopping experiences, and night life.

But stay out of the strip clubs, I’m told they are nasty, nasty. Instead go to the Parc du Mont-Royal on the Island, it is a beautiful park and you can feed the ducks. Just bring some miettes de pain.

I’m curious, Elliott and all his buddies will be in Montreal soon, and I was wondering if as Anglophones they would attract much of a crowd. I’ve read that it can be tough for Anglophone artists to attract the attention of Francophones, and that AI is not a popular programme in the Province of Quebec.

I lived in Montreal as an adolescent, but haven’t been back for years, do any Quebecer or Québécois Etrainers have an idea about this.

Postscript: Please forgive or ignore my horrible attempt at French spelling and terminalogy.

I lived in Montreal for about six month, and there is a very large english speaking population, in fact the city is pretty much bi-lingual (it's different from the rest of Quebec in this way). So, I'm sure that Elliott won't have any problem attracting an audience there.
But I agree that I don't think Elliott would attract much of a crowd anywhere else in Quebec.

How long ago did you live in Montreal, that you saw such a large English-speaking population there? I thought all the Anglos escaped to Toronto years ago. Montreal was the biggest city in Canada for years and years, but thanks to Quebec's increasingly pigheaded Franco policies, it's now Toronto.

I hope you're right about Elliott getting an enthusiastic audience there. Justin was there, but Justin is Justin. I suggested that Elliott sing something in French, to acknowledge the special status of Montreal. That might win them over. There are so many great French songs he would just kill, and he'll have to sing in foreign languages soon enough, so he may as well start!

Sherwood, I lived in Montreal in 93, but I don't think its changed much since then, ie. english population-wise. I've been back several times since, and I always hear lots of english being spoken. Its VERY different from the rest of Quebec in this way

I have no idea if there will be an enthousiastic audience for Elliott there, but I jsut meant to say that there is definitely enough of an english speaking population that Elliott should be able to sell some tickets.

So you mean he won't attract any frogs anyways. Too bad.
