Title: My Recap Of Six Flags Concert

cfans - September 1, 2007 05:41 AM (GMT)
I took the day off work and left Harrisburg at 7 am. I met up with Itslate (Carole) and her son, Dan, a little before 10:30 at the entrance to the park. Carole and Dan love roller coasters and while I don't ride them myself, I wanted to spend the day in the park before the concert. We ran into a security guard who was also a magician. Weird, huh? Anyway, when he saw the Elliott shirts we three were wearing, he told us we had just missed Elliott who was being escorted around the park by a park employee. We were hoping to run into him on one of the rides, but that never happened.

A little while later we made our way over to the arena where the concert was going to be held. We saw that Elliott's name on the marquee was spelled with only one "t". We looked around and then spotted a park employee who was carrying around some large plastic letters. I approached him and asked if he was responsible for putting the names up on the marquee. When he said he was, I told him about the misspelling. He pulled out the flyer and showed me that Elliott had only one "t". I told him that it is constantly being misspelled, but for sure had two "t's". I pointed out the spelling on my "official" Elliott shirt. He was a little grumpy, but promised he would check it out.

A little later, while we were on a ride nearby, we could see the marquee. The spelling had been fixed. I was so happy. Hours later when we came back to the arena, I saw that same employee (John) and thanked him for fixing the name. He was still grumpy, but said "well it seemed important to you that it be fixed." We talked for a little while and he was amazed that I had come all the way from Harrisburg just to see the concert. He told Carole and I that the line was forming around the corner, but that he would let us in the back of the arena once the doors were opened so we didn't have to walk around. When we told him that we wanted to make sure we got to stand right up front, he said that it would be best if we got in line with the others, which we did.

I saw him again when I left the line to go and grab something to eat. He found out for me that Elliott would be singing first. I thanked him again for being so nice (even though he was still grumpy), and I went back on my way.

We did get to stand right up in front for the concert. We had met up with OnlyforElliott (Mar) and her friend John a little earlier, and then Chrissy and her husband, Tom, and Rick and his cousin outside the arena. Once inside, I got to meet Barbara from New Jersey and her friend (sorry, I missed her name), and I finally got to meet Chloe! A little later Angel and Bernie joined us. It was so wonderful meeting and hanging around with everyone. The etrain is just the best!

The concert was incredible. Elliott was on fire! He looked fabulous. His hair was trimmed and the curls were . . . well . . . curly. He wore the fedora for the first few songs, but it got too sweaty, and Elliott finally removed it. I know we keep saying every time we hear WFY live that "that was the best ever", but I don't see how anything can top this one.

The crowd was very mixed. There were a lot of young people there, male and female. While a good many of them were there to see/hear Kelly Rowland, EVERYONE was loving Elliott. There were a couple of teenage boys to my right and one of them knew all the words to WFY and was singing along, while the others knew parts of the song. When I could drag my eyes off Elliott (which wasn't easy), I really liked looking around and watching everyone enjoying themselves.

We left immediately after Elliott left the stage and all the etrainers in our group made our way around to the side of the arena. There was a barrier there with security guards. After about 5 minutes, I saw the park employee John walking towards us from the backstage area. I made my way up to the barrier and met him there. I asked him how he liked the concert. He said he really enjoyed it. He whispered to me that he was looking for me because he had two backstage passes for me, but I had to hurry. I asked him if he could get more, and he said that he tried but couldn't. I pulled Mar aside because I knew she had not yet met Elliott. We hurried backstage (I quickly asked if anyone had anything for me to ask/tell Elliott), and we made it just in time. I went up to Elliott, and before I could say anything, he pulled me into a hug. I introduced myself and told him I had met him in Lancaster. He said, "oh yeah" like he had remembered. Mar then went up to him and I was able to get a picture of them (I'll post it tomorrow). She took off her hat to show it to Elliott and then put it on his head. He did a goofy little dance with it on - so cute. I got Elliott to sign my NOW CD, and told him that IBelieveToMySoul said hello, and he got excited and said, "tell her I said hi". I asked for another hug, thanked him for the beautiful concert, and told him that I loved it. He said, "I love you too, sweetheart!". Then he was pulled away by this guy who looked at us and apologized but said Elliott had to leave.

As I thought he really had left, when I got back outside, I told everyone standing outside the barrier that Elliott was gone. While most of the crowd then left as well, the etrainers stood around talking for about another 15 minutes. We were just turning around to move away, when we saw Elliott quickly walking down from the backstage area. Some of us just got a quick hello as he walked by with Russell and Joonie and some security guards, while others (Chloe and Chrissy who had moved further away from us), got quick hugs.

It was a long, tiring ride home (I got home at three minutes after midnight), but I was smiling those three hours as I was driving. Another great Elliott concert with more to look forward to.

Thanks for the recap.

That is the nicest grumpy guy I ever read about. :rotfl:

Ditto!
Maybe Elliott made him less grumpy - he can have that effect on anyone! :elliottcap:

Linda4Elliott - September 1, 2007 01:52 PM (GMT)
Great recap cfans! Wow, it really pays to be nice to people, even if they are grumpy..and I don't mean just so you can get something, but you had a positive affect on this man, and he remembered. What a great story, thanks for sharing and getting Elliott's name spelled correctly

realitymom - September 1, 2007 02:01 PM (GMT)
Wonderful recap! Lovin that grumpy John...I agree, he is by far the kindest grumpy man I have read about! :rotfl:

I am so THRILLED you were able to meet him again & onlyforelliott was able to meet him! That adorable hat of hers needed to be seen by the man who inspired it! :awe:

Rick1965 - September 1, 2007 03:31 PM (GMT)
cfans!!! Great recap...It was so awesome meeting you!! Good work getting the sign fixed! Thanks for sharing the day with us...and thanks for the hug!!

Just so everyone knows...not only can she get theatre marquees fixed in a single bound...but she gives the nicest hugs!!

elliottcrazy - September 1, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
Man, I love reading these re-caps. it really is the next best thing to being there. Thanks to everybody.

cfans - September 1, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
Thanks everybody. It probably bothers me more than it does Elliott, but I cringe every time I see his name misspelled. And then I went and did it to Crissy. I'm so sorry I misspelled your name!

Rick - I've been a hugger all my life. That's why the first time I got a hug from Elliott during the AI concert meant so much to me. You wouldn't know it from meeting me, but I'm quite shy in real life (honest!). Hugging is my way of letting people know that meeting them is so important to me. And you hug back nice too!

CrissyIsCrazy4E - September 1, 2007 04:06 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone!! I just wanted to thank cfans, itslate, Rick, onlyforelliott, chloe, Angel, berniefan, and Auntie Cheryl for making last night so much fun!! My hubby was really impressed at how nice and thoughtful Etrainers are. And I said..."I told you so!!" Thanks again Chloe for the GA pass. I apologize if I left anyone out....I was just so excited. I hope to meet up with you guys again soon!

chattycb - September 1, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
Cfans, thanks for the great recap. So happy that all of you had such a great time.
If I ever got a hug from Elliott, though, I think I'd pass out right there on the spot.
Maybe one day.... a gal can only hope...

BeGeNJ - September 3, 2007 04:29 PM (GMT)
As I thought, not really a "meet & greet" planned :( ....We (Tara, Denise & I) tried our best to get threw but poor Jim the security guard was ready to commit us! lol lol
Tara and I literally walked at such a pace after the show that Denise and Mr Tara were so far behind us. She's a blast to be at a concert with.....are you done "swooning" yet Tara???? lol To Mr Tara, You are a saint!!

What a marvelous way to spend a summer evening, to spend it listening to the sounds of "E"!! He started out by his famous "New Joisey" always a giggle from the crowds!!!
He opened with "Allright", damnnnnnnnnnnnn he's so seasoned he jus gets better and better and better!! It was a shortened set compared to the Sayreville show, but well worth the chance to see him live again!! He thanked the crowds more that once for our support and how much he really appreciates it, he spoke a lot and often! Songs in the set....Allright, Movin On, Ghetto Boy, I'm In Love With You Forever, I think that's when I shouted out "We love you Elliott, and he answered back "I love you too sweetheart!!!!!!" One Word, he got the crowd raising their arms!! He closed with "Wait For You, omggggggggggg he put so much heart and soul into it, he makes one weak!! He couldn't thank the fans for all the votes and requests of the song as well as thanking Z100 and their crew. We stood about 4 deep to look up at the stage a clear view of those "baby blues"!! Looks like he got a lil trim of the locks, and looked fantastic, sounded fantastic, HE IS JUS PLAINLY FANTASTIC AND E - MAZING!!!!
Wasn't too large of a crowd, again, an all age show and some very dedicated fans!! From the decorated Tshirts, the hats, the signs, the buttons, everyone jus loves and adores him, me included!!!!!

I had a lil gift for him to go along with Ging's lil Porsche, I went to the Porsche store and got him a Porsche baseball cap!!! Am a lil crushed I wasn't able to give it to him, but good ol security guard Jim found a solution for me and introduced me to a aunt of Elliott's!! She assured me she will send it off to him!! So the cap is in transit!! (btw, she wasn't even able to get "backstage" to see him!! Lucky Mar, (Only for Elliott) from the E Train and CFan, Carolyn got in to meet him. So happy for Mar since she traveled from Missouri to see him!!!! (Sad for me and Tara though :( ) This is jus too cool to meet so many from the wonderful world of the internet, and jus too cool how Elliott brought us all together!!! I met a few of the others from the E Train, Its late, Rick, and a few others. Of course I brought along some Team E buttons and handed some out!!

All in all it was a great night even though not getting up close and personal with him, but am sure there will be more times to come. He's truly become and will become one of the best voices to be felt and heard. He gives his heart and soul in each and every song you can't help but love him!! He's touched so many and he holds each and everyone of us near and dear to him!!!

Linda4Elliott - September 3, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)

BeGe, it was great meeting you. Thank you so much for the Team E button! I'm sorry that I didn't know you had that gift for Elliott before I got rushed in to see him. It was so crazy fast that even Mar (onlyforelliott), who did get to go in with me, had a gift as well and it was only after we got back outside that we realized she still had it with her and forgot to give it to him. I'm glad his aunt was able to get your gift to him. I wish I could have seen his face when he saw it!
