Title: OJ In Trouble Again!
Description: It is robbery this time!

wee_moggie - September 14, 2007 06:05 PM (GMT)
Get this: the news is reporting that apparently OJ Simpson was involved in what they think is an armed robbery. They think that he was trying to get back some memorabilia that he claims is his, so he staged his own "sting operation" and stormed the place with a group of men WITH GUNS.

A news conference is just about to take place; I'll update when I hear more.

Wee..i was just about to post that link..... :rotfl:

Let's see him weasel his way out of this one huh?

ETA: ok..what link you are asking yourself...I freak myself out sometimes.

Right now, they are reporting that OJ is saying that he did his own "sting operation" (his words) to get his stuff back, and that "nobody was roughed up."

Still waiting for the press conference.

Also, someone was heard to say, "Put the guns down!" That doesn't bode well for him.

wee_moggie - September 14, 2007 07:06 PM (GMT)
Right now they are wondering why OJ didn't call the police if he found out that someone had his memorabilia. He could have called the police and let them handle it, but instead he went to the person's hotel room in Vegas and conducted his own "sting operation."

One of the pieces that he wanted back was his suit that he wore when he got the Not Guilty verdict in his trial. I don't know, that strikes me as kind of creepy.

elliottcrazy - September 14, 2007 07:08 PM (GMT)
OJ & the word 'creepy' go hand in hand.

wee_moggie - September 14, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
OK, they had a short news conference, and they just said that they didn't find any weapons, and that OJ is willing to meet with the police and talk to them.

Something interesting though: it turns out that the suit was not in Las Vegas, it is in Fresno. They showed a picture of the suit, and someone was holding a copy of The Fresno Bee with today's date on it. Either he didn't know that the suit was not among the items stolen, or he's lying about wanting the suit. Not clear at this time.

He would have been so much better off to let the police handle it. If someone truly stole his memorabilia, then he could have reported a robbery or theft or whatever. Now he's the suspect in a robbery.

So I saw this morning that the Las Vegas police have found two firearms in the OJ case, and are looking to make some arrests. Should be interesting!

My friend said Friday night, "OJ is too stupid to be out of jail."

wee_moggie - September 16, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
Well, it's official: OJ has been arrested for armed robbery. They're going to do a press conference in a little while.

Some friends and I were speculating that OJ probably didn't go to the police because a lot of memorabilia business is cash only, under the table.....so one illegal activity for another???

Ahhh, hadn't thought about that!

I saw on the news that at the moment, OJ is in jail without bail. The prosecutor wants to charge him with seven felony counts. If he was convicted, he could spend up to thirty years in prison.

mike83 - September 17, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
Karma is all I have to say. Get out of this one this time especially since you admitted to running your own sting operation even though you aren't a cop lol

Linda4Elliott - September 18, 2007 10:17 PM (GMT)
sadly this will probably drag on again and cost lots of money....why don't they just put him away already!!!

May10787 - September 18, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
I doubt that I will be following this in the news. Not my sort of interest. However, I do suspect he will get off with a very light slap on the wrist, or just have some kind of GPS tracking system for a while.

Not meant as a criticism, just an observation.

wee_moggie - September 20, 2007 04:35 AM (GMT)
Well, it looks like there are eight criminal charges the prosecution is going to charge him with. One of them could put him away for life; I can't remember which one.

Some of the other people involved in that night are coming forward and singing like canaries.

OJ is going to plea Not Guilty as his arraignment, which I believe is sometime next month.

He is out on $125,000 bail.
