Title: I Changed My Mind
AvivaDove - September 16, 2007 05:01 PM (GMT)
I didn't think that ''One Word'' was one of my favorite Elliott songs. Now, suddenly, it's in my head. I sing it as I'm walking down the street. My kids were singing it on our walks, long before me. I just know it will be another huge hit. Go Elliott!

yup..me too. it's amazing what a little bit of brainwashing can do.... :rotfl:

I just don't think there is abad song on that CD. By the time his next cd comes out, I suspect that each will have a turn as my "favorite". LOL Right now, I'm probably favoring Alright and Take My Breath Away.
I've just boarded, so I'm probably repeating sentiments that were posted shortly after the CD was release, but over the weekend I finally figured out why I like this CD so much (well aside from the incredible vocals). For me, this CD captures that indescribably exquisite feeling (both the highs & lows) of early love. You know, that stage when that special someone can just accidently brush against your arm and it sends chills down your spine? :awe:
I've been with the same man for 24 years (married for 21), so I know what results is deeper and ultimately more satisfying, but that doesn't mean I forgot that feeling. While I would never trade what I have *now*, it is nice to have a vehicle to look back at that stage with fond nostalgia.

Welcome to the train, hmmm!
Good post. Elliott captures the feeling of being in love so well in his voice. One of my friends at work described WFY as "so romantic".
Those who have been captured by that romance should appreciate One Word as well and it is a good tune....they all are. My favored song changes almost from day to day and even includes the bonus songs. He turns any song he sings into a special song.

Definitely romantic.
I've been getting a lot of razzing from my 15 yo son from playing the CD so much. He's at that Guns N Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers stage. I kept repeating, that if you asked the girls at school you would find a lot of them *love* the song WFY and he kept replying but most the girls he knew like RHCP. Poor boy just wasn't getting it. Finally, without really thinking about the implications of what I was saying, I blurted out "Well someday when you want to romance a girl, you'll have better luck if you bring along EY than if you bring RHCP" As he started blushing, it dawned on me that such information was probably not good to share with 15 yo that dates! I fumbled and followed up with a rather lame "Of course, *you* won't be needing that advice for a *long* time"
Eh, guess I need to add that to my long list of "Proud Parenting Moments"
Editing to add: Thank You for the compliment and welcome. Jeesh, where are my manners!

Had to dig up this post because although I always liked One Word, it wasn't my favorite. Over the past few days, I have been listening to it everyday about a gazillion times, the version from the album and a live one from a radio broadcast. I can't stop listening to it; I never tire of it. The more I listen to it, the more I fall in love with it. Even though I don't have someone in my life right now, I still love the song and think it conveys such a sweetness about life and love. (Loved your post Hmmm) Elliott makes me feel so good when I listen to him sing it. Think there's any chance of an acoustic version? I think that's part of what did it for me, it is so moving with only the piano/guitar. I can't wait to hear it on the radio and on TV. I love, love this song!!!
Go Elliott!! Go One Word!!

Not sure if this is the right place for this..but..just gave the Target CDs to another friend who's heard me talk about E for a long time but has scarcely listened to him..We were going to follow each other in cars from bowling to eat out...so she was listening on the way...When we got there she said she had heard the first 4 songs--and she couldn't stop gushing about him--she LOVED all the songs..so fun to turn new fans on!

A new Elliott fan, Yay! Isn't it great? Once people start listening to him, it's hard to stop! I'm thinking of giving my sister-in-law and brother a CD. She likes country (used to really be into rock, but her aunts took her to a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert and she has been hooked on country ever since) and over the last few years my brother has been a pretty much exclusive Christian Contemporary listener. I think they would like You Are the One, One Word, and a few others. I'm a little worried about some of the other songs appropriateness for them. I think they would especially like some of the live recordings I have. I am visualing them driving down the road, listening to one of the CDs I give them, being so moved by Elliott. :) They arn't fans of AI (if they would have watched season 5, they would have been. 5 is the first time I watched AI) My sister-in-law knows how much I love Elliott, and always tells me when she sees him, like the day she saw the Best Buy commercial. I think I'll give my mom one of my Target CD's for her birthday in November while I'm at it. She loves country too, but I can try!

I think I like it better than Wait For You, for sure I love all the live renditions of it that I've heard.

I was listening to One Word this morning and I just couldn't help but smile! I do love this song too! :) It didn't start out as one of my favorites, but I love it!

Actually, this is my favorite song from the album and I really do believe that it has huge potential to match what WFY did or even surpass it. What I find interesting about it is how the chorus/refrain plays around with only about 3 notes for the most part so you'd think it would sound monotonous and yet it's the complete opposite -it sounds so melodious and even uplifting. This is probably the song that plays in my head the most right now. (I have woken up in the morning several times with this song in my head.)
