American Idol Katharine McPhee has become engaged to the man who helped nurse her through her battle with bulimia. Her longtime boyfriend, Nick Cokas, proposed to the 23-year-old recently, but friends insist it wasn't a big surprise.
An insider tells American magazine OK!, "They've been talking about it (marriage) for some time."

I wish her nothing but happiness.

Good luck to her, but personally I think 23 is to young to be engaged or married.
A person should experience life’s ups, downs and character building experiences before they commit to a life time relationship with one person.

I agree in theory, but since I married exactly 1 month after my 21st birthday I can't criticize. I've been married for 21 years now and still going strong. Sometimes when you meet the right person, you just know. We both knew we were in it for life within 1 month of meeting. At least we waited 3 more years to let me graduate college before making it official.

I hope it works out for her! Lord knows almost no marriages in Hollywood work out anymore :(

If you find the right person for you at 20 or 80, more power to anyone. I wish her all the best.

I wish them a long and happy life together.

I don't think that's too young. My parents married when they were 20. When you meet the right person, you just know.

I was married at 17...turned 18 three months after the wedding. I've been married 27 yrs. I'm not saying I recommend that!!!!, but it can work

I do wish her well, but cynical old me says it won't be happily every after.
Course if she has her dozen babies, it just might last cuz she'll be too busy being pregnant to even think about leaving! :dizzy:

You are correct, when you meet the right person close to your own age and experiences you can grow together.
Katherine will experience her youth married to a man twice her age. In twenty years when she is only 43 and looks back to her youth I hope she is extremely happy with her close to senior citizen husband.

Wow! I didn't know the guy was twice her age. Then again, I have a few friends (in their early to mid 30s) who are married to guys in their 50s.
