“The Sista’s Magical Elliott Encounter in Indy”… First, I will say that meeting Sandy, Pete, Jame, Tofu, Karen and Vincent was wonderful! Each of them is as nice as I imagined and beyond…true Sistas!

I arrived in Indy shortly after noon on Thursday. I had trouble finding the room, so Vincent and Tofu came down to the lobby to meet me. We went up to the room and socialized a bit before all agreeing that we were hungry (imagine that)! We decided on T.G.I.Friday’s because we could all walk there.

Jame was in phone contact with Sandy; she said took a wrong turn, but was close by. We sent some into the restaurant to get a table and two of us watched for Jame. Once she arrived, we all got down to gabbing and eating. The waiter was really nice…we forgave him for admitting he’d never heard of Elliott! He took a photo of all of us when we were done eating.

From there, we went to the hotel room and talked about what to do next. The girls who stayed over Wednesday night said they saw a big bus with a trailer in the parking lot that evening. The bus was no longer there so we wondered if it belonged to Elliott. I said there was only one way to find out and that was to go to the venue and see if it was there.

Pete and Sandy rode with Jame; Tofu and Vincent rode over with me. As we neared the building, I said if the bus is here it will be around back and that’s where we’re gonna go. So, here we come around the corner and lo and behold there’s the bus!

I noticed some familiar faces (I’m driving without looking where I’m going now). All of a sudden I see Elliott! I pointed right at him and everyone started screaming (including Elliott I think…his eyes got really big and had a “OMG” look in them).

Vincent and Tofu jumped out of the moving car (I still don’t know how they unfastened their seat belts)! So here I’m sitting there thinking “oh s***, I gotta park this car somewhere”. The girls had left my back hatch open, so I’m driving around with it up in the air. Both Jame and I parked in a tow zone!

When we got over to Elliott he had already been told who we were and that we came from several different states to see him. Elliott shook my hand and said nice to meet you. I said nice to meet you again. He looked at me and said “yeah, you look familiar”…bless his heart I know he was just being kind! I said we met in Louisville and he said yes, so maybe he did remember (who knows).

Well Sistas, we had at least 30 glorious minutes with Elliott! He was so gracious; bless his heart he has a cold, but no matter to him. He just flew in that morning after seeing a doctor in New York. It was chilly out and you could tell the cold temperature was bothering him.

Tofu gave him a T-shirt that says “Ithaca is Gorges” and then Pete showed him the BOOB shirt. OMG did he get a good laugh out of that one! He showed it to his brother Scott who just fell out laughing. As Pete started to put it away, Elliott said “well can I have one”? Pete said of course you can!

Pete gave him a pic of us in the Wienermobile and another that I can’t remember right now. He asked who was the person who did the group shot in the old saloon and Pete said it was her. Elliott said “I have that picture up in the bus”!

I told him that he met Joplin in Chicago and she gave him the “scooter” picture. He said yes, I got the scooter picture. I told him I was the one who took it…he said “no way, really”! He is really good at putting all of us together and understanding all our madness.

So after dozens of pictures, autographs, a phone call to Beagle, etc., Elliott said he really needed to rest his voice. We totally understood and thanked him profusely. He thanked us all for coming and encouraged us to come see him again anytime (like we need that encouragement)!

We hung around outside for quite a bit chatting with Karen, her daughter and their friends. Needless to say we were numb with excitement! Jame and I agreed we should move our cars before we got towed.. We all put on our BOOB shirts and got pictures taken by Elliott’s bus.

We knew if we ate at the venue, we could get “early entry passes”. I asked questions of the wait staff and the bottom line was the earlier we ate, the earlier we got to the front of the line. So, we had dinner around 5:00…paid our bill…and then went right to the early entry door.

The door was supposed to open at 7:50 for early entry. Elliott was not scheduled to go one until 9:00. Well….there had been a seminar in there that afternoon. Long story short, there was a major delay in clearing out that one, setting up the concert equipment and doing sound checks.

They let us in at 8:30. Several of the Sistas headed for the very few tables they had (everything else was standing room). Tofu and I went right to center stage and never budged! Josh Hoge came on first (after 9:00) and did a 30 minute set. He’s pretty good and really nice looking…funny as hell.

The next act was “The Last Goodnight”…very Maroon 5-ish. They didn’t do much for me and of course, we all just wanted to see Elliott. By the time it came for Elliott, Pete had worked her way up front with Tofu and me because she couldn’t see anything from where they were.

Elliott finally came on around 11:00. What can I say? Absolutely incredible! He did his usual set, making dedications throughout. There was a couple there celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary. The performance was amazing (you’d never know he wasn’t feeling well). Very high energy…spot on with every song. His stage presence is very engaging and he pours his heart and soul into each song.

After his set (which went entirely too fast), he came back for an encore of “ASFY”. He mentioned some names and then said “this song goes out to the MOOSAK Sistas, thank y’all for being here”. Well…THUD! We went nuts! He sang ASFY so beautifully, one of his best yet. He just leaves you breathless!

Now the fun part, remember I said Tofu and I had been standing all this time? I say we stood from 6:30 to 12:30 (at least). Neither of us could feel our feet when it came time to walk! LMAO…it was worth every minute though. Oh Nellie!

We mulled around after the show getting autographs, buying T-shirts. Tofu went up to Josh and he said “I know you; you’re one of the BOOB ladies”! Elliott announced during the show that the proceeds from his T-shirt sales would go to diabetes research through and agreement with E.I. Lily (they had representation there).

We headed back to the hotel in search of Mudslides…the damn bar was closed! So we settled for Pepsi and water. Tofu got online to MOOSAK…Rainy called from Canada…Beagle called (I think) everything was starting to blur at that point. We gabbed and gabbed.

Finally ran out of steam around 2:30. We were all back up by 7:30. Had coffee and then it was time for the fliers to catch their limo! It truly was an amazing time; so good to meet some of my Sistas and to see the man again. No doubt Elliott’s bright future will lead to more Sista gatherings in the future.

I’m sure I missed something in this report, but I know the others will fill in the gaps. I’m saving this so I can repost as needed. Hope you enjoyed it!

So he is not signing after the shows anymore. I am so sad. I have no chance at meeting him now. :(

I think every show may be a bit different...sometimes there are circumstances that prevent his staying later...but think it is his intention to do it whenever he can..don't give up!
