You can listen to a stream of Carrie's new album here:
http://entertainment1.sympatico.msn.ca/Mus...CarrieUnderwoodIt is more country than her first album. It is more uptempo than her first album. The songs are radio-friendly. I think it will sell well.

While I like Carrie's voice and respect her talent, country is just not my favorite genre. The more crossover style of her first album appealed to me because of its diversity of Pop infused music. BHC was a good example of a bluesy uptempo song I thought had a good sound. Although, I liked "So Small", so maybe I will give it a listen to lol.

^^LOL it's the opposite for me. With the exception of "So Small", it seems considerably less cheeseball. Nice job Carrie, you're getting better (and more country!) :)

Music is very subjective save for the technical elements that are very formulaic. For some reason, I've never really connected with the lyrics nor sound of pure country. However, if it is mixed with another genre like Pop or Blues, then I might like it. As was the case with Carrie's 1st album. Still, I'll give a few of her other songs a listen and see.

Country is a bit like R&B/Soul...better in its pure form. For example, I love R&B/Soul music, but all this poppy watered-down stuff that's played on the radio all the time I really don't like. JMO.

Listened to a few of the clips, and wasn't overly impressed, seemed very formulaic to me. , With a second cd, I felt Carrie would take some chances, expand her creativity, after all, she sold millions of the past cd. Not a big country artist fan, but do love KD Lang and old Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash, all singers who sing with such passion and emotion. Carrie seemed to lack this even now in live performances, and was the reason I was not a big fan on AI. Good singer, nice tone, but just disconnected to me
Country is the music of the people, and imo is becoming very bland and generic.

Her new cd is amaaaazing. I love it so much more than Some Hearts. She co-wrote 4 of the tracks, and shows a lot of growth on Carnival Ride. I'm really proud of her.
I can't wait to buy it on Tuesday!

:agreed: (Except Josh Turner, he's a newer country artist that gives hope for the genre IMO)
Oh, and props for mentioning Roy Orbison! I love that guy :rocker:
