Title: Food For Elliott And The Band In Norfolk

Linda4Elliott - October 21, 2007 03:18 PM (GMT)
In reading Txrangerette's recap, she noted that the guys were famished after the concert and they only had a little fruit and peanut butter and crackers. They were scooping it right out of the jar. I can't stand this thought. I have to travel a a few hrs but was trying to think of something I could bring that would hold up pretty well in a cooler. I am going to make meatballs and bring rolls and provolone and mozzarella cheese for them to make subs. Would anyone else like to bring something so we can be sure they eat well for a few days? Keeping in mind Elliott's diabetes ofcourse.

Would a mod PLEASE remove the first "the" in the title of this thread. Geesh! I changed the title and didn't reread before I posted. Sorry!

Linda4Elliott - October 21, 2007 06:36 PM (GMT)
thx everyone :) Thanks to Tx for letting us know and for Jacquie for leading the way. Hopefully they will be able to eat decent the rest of this tour.

I believe so. I know that Elliott loves the Arby's combo meal!

I was thinking about putting together a "famous Carolina BBQ" feast for the NC concerts. I was also wondering about Russell? I could try making a batch of shredded chicken, too, perhaps??? I could leave the sauce separate...maybe get both Lexington and Eastern styles.

TxRangerette - October 21, 2007 08:44 PM (GMT)
No pork for Russell!

All us mothers/Nana's think alike...I just posted a comment in Toni's recap...Then found this post was started...I have copy and pasted my original post...

When they come to the Norva...All of us could pitch in a few bucks and buy all of them dinner at Kellys!!! We have 50 reservations...$100-$150 ought to buy enough for all of them!!! How many are there all together...including Josh and TLG???

It may not be "home cooked" but I'm sure it would beat peanut butter & crackers!!! Even IF they don't come to Kellys to join us, we could have it delivered to the Norva!!!!

Do we know IF they have a refigerator & microwave on the bus??? No need in sending food, if they can't keep it cold and warm it up.

Any ideas...Comments???

Looking out for our boy!!!

I replied in your original post! Good idea!

shatner8 - October 21, 2007 10:03 PM (GMT)
I had not idea our poor boys were not eating properly! Unfortunately unable to prepare and bring anything on the plane from New york, but would be glad to contribute to the Norva show meal plans.

Linda4Elliott - October 21, 2007 11:08 PM (GMT)
I would assume they have a refrigerator and microwave as Elliott said they ate the brisket for several days. I will still be bringing food along. Even if we get them a meal at Kelly's, I also want them to have enough to eat for a few days. I hate the though of them eating at 7-11.....lol

Including Josh and TLG for the Kelly's meal sounds GREAT! They need a little mothering, too :) I was thinking Josh's probably has the least funding since he has no label backing yet.

Maybe someone could make baked goods using the Splenda mix (half the sugar).

eta: I will pitch in for a meal at Kelly's also.

Count me in on the $$ for the meal for the guys.

Hopefully they will JOIN us.

Wouldn't that be nice!!!

emmy4E - October 21, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
I have a SPLENDA Dessert cookbook and also have some other good diabetic sweet recipes- Count me in for dessert and some $$ at Kelly's. What a great idea!!

lindagt - October 22, 2007 12:37 PM (GMT)
Just a thought - but I think most performers don't like to eat heavily before a performance, so the thought of them joining us or eating a full catered meal before the show might not work for them. They may prefer to have buffet foods set out backstage to nibble on and eat after the show. Of course, I'm not sure what these guys do - but just in general, I think that's the usual way.

very true....I'm sure they wouldn't eat before the show. Good idea to have a nice buffet set up for the afterwards.

ME TOO! :1word:

nannaloveselliott - October 22, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
I'll bring something or contribute $$ to a buffet/dinner or both.

19991 - October 22, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
There are alot of nice restaurants in downtown Norfolk where they could eat.

I'm flexible, so whether it's money or food - I'm in.

peppers23 - October 23, 2007 03:23 AM (GMT)
I'll chip-in $$$ or bring something. Whatever works best. :1word:

Linda4Elliott - October 23, 2007 08:58 AM (GMT)
Why don't we just leave it at this: Whoever wants to being something, it will be greatly appreciated, just keep in mind Elliott's diabetes, and possible restrictions for Russell and Elliott. (ie no pork, etc.) And whoever would rather contribute money (because of logistics) for a buffet after the concert , that's great too!! Either way, they should be able to eat decent for a couple of days and won't have to resort to a jar of peanut butter!! lol

Thanks everyone :grouphug:

Since I'm new around here, I'm still getting the hang of how to navigate the site. My comment is in response to Nana2160's question about whether or not Elliott has a refrigerator and microwave. (I hope it's visible here.)

I sent a PM to Brandon about this and was told that he has a "medium size fridge" and a microwave. Like so many others, I also want to help out however I can. But, since I won't be attending any of the remaining shows, I'm going to send something to the guys. It looks like the North Carolina and Virginia stops are covered, so I'll pick another one and send a package.

I expected that this Forum would be a great place to connect with others that, like me, want to keep track of Elliott's career and celebrate his successes. But, I never imagined that it would also prove to be environment in which I'd see--time after time--so many examples of what it means to extend unconditional love to another. From the offers to send CDs to members who can't find or afford one, to the way that you've reached out to Amandarhea (I'm praying for her, too), to wanting to make sure that the guys are eating well--all of this shows just how amazing (or should I say E-mazing) you guys and gals are! :rocker: I'm glad to be on board! :etrain:

If we have food to contribute, will we be able to have it delivered to the NorVa or will we have to keep it with us at Kelly's?

I have contacted someone about this and I will post as soon as I know something. I'm hoping we can get it to them or someone before Kelly's, as we will go directly to the venue from there, correct?

19991 - October 23, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
As far as I know Linda, we DO go directly from Kelly's to the NorVa (it's a very short walk)

Part of the perks of eating at Kelly's is that you can get into the NorVa early.

I know that they (the NorVa) serve food, so they must have refrigerators in case anyone brings something perishable. Wonder if they would let things be stored if it was clearly labeled for the band.

the band when they come to Norfolk..I was thinking about stuff like
beef jerkey and some local salt water taffy made right here in Santa Cruz..I'm so sorry to hear the guys are running low on supplies...

I'm happy to get involved whichever way the group decides. Has it been determined that buying food from Kelly's is the way to go or should be bring stuff?

What time is the reservation for dinner/supper for the group?

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Nana2160 - October 30, 2007 03:17 AM (GMT)
When Nancy & I took our EEEEEEEEE journey to the streets of Norfolk. We spoke to the Hospitality & Catering Manager...He has assured us the Norva will be providing a buffet for Elliott & the gang.

Plan B...We will put together a "Care Basket"...Anyone who would like to contribute Non perishable snack foods...We will bring a basket to fill up with goodies for the guys to take on the bus!

Some possible ideas...Sugar free cookies, candies, cakes. Canned fruit cups, jello, pudding, chips, trail mix, peanuts, squirt cheese & crackers, crackers, raisins, fresh fruit, gum, juice bags/boxes, breakfast bars, granola bars, be creative...I'm sure many of you can come up with bigger & better ideas.

:yummy:

Bring a card or photo to include in the basket...Let's show some EEEEE Love!!!

:elliottelliott: :grouphug: :worship:
