Title: San Diego Wildfires
sdmom - October 22, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
Hi All,
Please keep San Diego in your prayers. We have several wildfires burning out of control and there's no end in sight. My family is packed and ready to leave if necessary. This is quite unnerving and we're hoping and praying for relief.
Not sure where ElliottCat101 lives but I hope she and her family are ok.
Thanks!

How frightening! Any chance of those Sana Anas calming down anytime soon?. Hope everything turns out ok. My son is about 50 miles up the coast from you. You all will be in my thoughts.

Thoughts and prayers are with all that are in harm's way. I hope residents will obey the evacuation orders so that the firefighters can get on with fighting the fire. Scary situation!

ElliottCat101, if you don't mind me asking, where do you live? My family stayed at a motel in Pacific Beach but we're back home now (Carmel Mountain). I hope your home is ok. Take care.

I heard on the news that they think it might be arson. The Feds searched a house already.
If it IS arson, I hope that they catch the person or persons involved and go all Jack Bauer on them. (Seriously!)
This is horrible cruelty. People have lost so much.
ElliottCat, I'll pray that your home is safe.

This is such a terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to all of you who have been affected. Doesn't Elliott have family in the San Diego area? I seem to remember hearing that he did.
Hopefully improving weather conditions will help contain the remaining fires.

ElliottCat and sdmom, you and your families and friends have my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. My family & friends are fine and back in our homes. Haven't heard from ElliottCat101 but she did say they're staying at a hotel. Hope their home is ok.
Most of the evauated areas are opened up for the people to return to, and the winds are not as bad now. Hopefully the fires will be contained very soon.

Well guys, I'm back! Sorry my last post had so little, but I was writing it from my bro's cell phone, and the internet kept cutting out so I had to make it quick.
I went to sleep Sunday night knowing that there was a fire in Ramona, but Ramona has fires often, and it is about 25 miles away, so I really wasn't worried...
.....then I woke up at 5am Monday morning to find my house full of smoke! Turned out the strong winds had blown the fire all the way to my neighborhood in the five hours I was asleep - the fire was *right down the road*! There was smoke and embers everywhere! People were running around everywhere trying to grab supplies and hit the road.. hardly anyone expected the fire to come, so we were really caught of gaurd!Everyone was panicking: cars were whipping through my neighborhood going about 50mph, people were running every which way, police men were screaming at us to evacuate IMMEDIATELY! My family was about to take off when we realized there had been no movement in our next-door-neighbors house... we decided to knock on their door before we left and make sure they were okay... good thing, too, cause they had no idea what was going on! It was crazy! My best friends backyard was in flames as her family left their home - we literally had no time to prepare!
I spent the past three and a half days in a hotel near the coast. This afternoon, the mandetory evacuation was finally lifted, and I just arrived home at 2 this afternoon to find my house perfectly in tact, though full of soot... My neighborhood, however, is in shambles. As I was driving to my house, it literally looked like a war zone. There are sooooo many houses in ruins! A lot of people are returning today to finally get to sleep in their own beds (like myself), but there are many other people who are returning today to sift through the remains of what once was their homes... It's so sad. Thankl you guys so much for your thoughts and prayers, but Please, continue to keep the families in your prayers! I am so grateful to still have a home, but I am very sad to see so many of my neighbors devestated..
SDMom, I live in Rancho Bernardo.
here are pics from the wildfires, and a lot of pics from my neighborhood:

I'm so glad your house is okay. I've been wondering and hoping. Wow, that must have been scary to wake up in smoke. Those pictures are scary. It does look like a war zone. I'm just glad you're okay, and I'll continue to keep the other families in my thoughts and prayers.
lindagt - October 26, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)
Elliottcat - I'm so glad your house is ok - isn't it a miracle how it hit some and skipped some right in the same neighborhood! I have been thinking about you today and so worried about all the SoCal family.
Linda4Elliott - October 26, 2007 12:08 AM (GMT)
Elliottcat, I'm so glad to hear that you are okay and that your home survived. I'm so sorry for those who weren't as fortunate. I'll keep those families in my prayers.

ElliottCat, so glad to hear you and your home is safe, but I will definitely still keep your neighborhood in my prayers. I was trying to imagine my house burning down and losing everything, and it was just too horrible. I am thanking God for all my blessings.
shatner8 - October 26, 2007 10:18 PM (GMT)
Elliottcat- so glad you are okay, am been watching the news, and thinking of the E trainers in Californa, and all the families overall who are effected by these terrible fires. How scary, just praying for all and hoping that this is over soon
