Title: E-train Street Team Work
Description: Find your downloadable Tour Flyers here!

movin2thabeet - October 23, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
Welcome to E-Train's new Street Team!

We're starting with the greatest need of helping to get out the word on Elliott's current Fall Tour. There are 3 flyer designs here to choose from that have been given the green light by Brandon.

Here is a suggestion from OG on how to copy the image for printing:
1) Right click on the poster
2) Rrom the menu, select "Copy Image".
3) OPEN a design program, such as Microsoft Publisher, or Microsoft Word.
4) Click EDIT, select PASTE.
The image will appear in the new program.

And here is nanassetta's suggestion for Mac users:
1) Right click on pic
2) Save Image As (I saved to desktop)
3) Open Word
4) Drag the desktop saved pic in to the Word Document
Opens and appears ready to edit!

An even better option is to use the web addresses provided to download directly.

If this is too technology-intensive for you, there's always the option of printing out separately the information to fit in the given box and then cut and paste before copying.

Make sure to include the following information for your Venue:
• Concert Date and Time
• Venue Name and Address
• Phone Number
• Web Address (optional)

Most people will be printing the black and white versions as they are more affordable for mass copying. It's best to use colored paper that stands out to get people's attention who are walking by.

Suggestions for locations to post flyers: Colleges and universities, music stores, coffee houses, bookstores, gyms, groceries/health food stores, businesses that post entertainment flyers, and basically all public bulletin boards/flyer locations available.

The following couple of threads have the downloadable flyers.

Also, please post here to let us know what city you are putting up flyers in so we know which areas still need attention. Thanks!

I think it would be very helpful for people to post here about when and where they can put up posters so that we can see where people are still needed. Should that be done in this thread?

Yes, this is the place for people to post when and where they are able to help put up flyers. So far, we've heard the greatest needs are: New Orleans (10/23), Birmingham (10/24) and Nashville (10/26). These are all in the next couple of days, so if we're going to make a real difference, we need folks on these cities right away.

Also suggestions from Brandon posted on the earlier thread:
1. When requesting in concert markets, it may be a good idea to remind the DJ of the upcoming show.
2. When emailing a request, send a link of a concert review, such as the Houston one. You'd be surprised what they read.

I agree!

alienhamster - October 23, 2007 05:16 AM (GMT)
In addition to Nashville, Birmingham, and New Orleans, can anyone sign up to help with flyers in any of the following locations? We probably need to move on these soon, since flyers work best if they're up for like a week or so . . .

(Also, if you know anyone in these areas and can ask them to help, please let us know. We need everyone's help here!)

Is it possible to place ads in the entertainment sections of local newspapers in these cities. Those fliers would surely catch some eyes. I would be glad to make a contribution to this cause . It sounds as if many other etrainers would also. Maybe it's time to have a treasurer, and start collecting funds for these kinds of things.

merrr - October 23, 2007 11:28 AM (GMT)
Hey everyone!

Here's something to help the people who were asking questions on how to go about adding the local info and printing the design.

I pasted the images in Microsoft Word documents (since most people have this program) and added text boxes so that people can add the date, time and venue info easily.

Hope this helps the people who don't have image-editing software. Let me know if there are any more questions. :)

Hmmm - October 23, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
Hey Merr,

What font are you using? I've tried both Verdana (bold) and Franklin Gothic Heavy and neither quite seem to match although they are close.

merrr - October 23, 2007 02:34 PM (GMT)
You can use Arial Black, do you have that? Or a Helvetica font...

Hmmm - October 23, 2007 02:50 PM (GMT)
Arial? How simple, LOL.

Actually, I printed off my first sample after adding venue info. It's not going to work -- at least not with my printer. All the shadowing blurs making the copy almost illegible. DARN, DARN, DARN!

Hmm, let me try another option. I can't spend too much time on this today since I teach from my home tonight and tomorrow I'm in class most of the day.

merrr - October 23, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
Here's another option:

Hmmm: If your printer is giving you problems, you can have one copy printed at a computer shop (preferably using a laser printer), and then have *that* master copy photocopied.

One more note for anyone who plans to print the flyers:
If you're planning to have them photocopied, please print out the Black-and-White version as your master copy. If you look closely, there is a difference between the black-and-white and the colored flyers. For the B&W flyer I made the text "ELLIOTT | YAMIN" pure white (no wood design) so it would stand out better against the dark background, even when photocopied.

Hmmm - October 23, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
Wow! The pdf really made a difference! I had to do "cut & paste" the old-fashioned way, but the final result looks pretty good. I'll try to get by Staples to make copies today, but won't be able to distribute until Thursday. At least that will still be a full week prior to the N Club performance.

merrr - October 23, 2007 03:33 PM (GMT)
^ Hey, that's great! Glad someone finally had success printing out the files! :)

Just a reminder here. The idea of a street team is to supplement what E's promotion team is doing. And it is literal here - going out to the streets and putting up flyers all around town. The work with radio and industry types should be covered by E's team - we're filling in the gaps out in the community. And if we don't have much time to do this, maybe getting our kids or friends to help.

From Brandon on the other thread:

The idea is to get these [flyers or posters] out and to make people aware that there is a show in the area and it's one they don't want to miss.

Food for thought here....I know Brandon asked that the etrain website address be included on the flyers. If the flyers are sent out to radio stations, do we want them privy to our voting stategies? I realize this has been a discussed so many times, sorry to bring it up again because I certainly do not want to discourage the awesome work of many here, just questioning etrainstation's addy on the flyers.

PoorMe - October 23, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
Since this is now a public message board, anyone can come and slog through these threads for information. Believe me, it's a rather daunting project when you're looking for something. I'm here nearly every day and can't find my way back to threads I'm interested in at times.

movin2thabeet - October 23, 2007 07:08 PM (GMT)
It's Brandon's call, of course, but I see the value in listing both sites until Elliott gets a website, which I hope comes very soon.

Hmmm - October 23, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
I just wanted to let y'all know I haven't even had time to hang a single flyer and already think I sold at least 2 more tickets. LOL

When I took the master to Staples, the girl in the copy area squealed, "I didn't know Elliott was coming to town!" As I was leaving with my copies, she and her manager were discussing that if she did a few extra things for closing the night of the concert, she could leave early for the show and that would enable to manager to get there after the show started. I *really* don't think they were going together, either.... Oh and they asked if they could keep the master.

Thank you so much for all the hard work...The Posters are FAB !!

I posted a bulletin on MySpace. I sent a copy to http://www.idolstalker.com/ and Jeanne has already posted. I tried to send to Rickey but cannot thru his contract form, so I ask him if he has an email to which I can send. I also sent a link to this thread to the E-Maniacs. There are no concerts near me, but I am doing what I can think to do !

As a way of gauging where we need more help, I'll be posting occasional updates here on which cities ETrainers have committed to cover with our new Street Team flyers.

So far, there's only 1 person who has reported in with getting the street team flyering going - the intrepid, Hmmm in Greesnsboro for the 11/2 N Club gig.

That's a start. If you live in or nearby a city on the Tour, please consider downloading a flyer, making copies and posting some around town. Doesn't have to be a major project. Even if you don't have alot of time, every little bit counts. You could carry them around with you and put them up as you're doing errands. And knowing that you are helping Elliott out in a very real way could be all the incenvtive you need.

And please post here what you have done and what you are planning on doing. Multiple people in each city would be ideal as we can't expect one person to cover a whole community.

E Street Team, reporting for fun and flyering!

JackieB - October 23, 2007 11:49 PM (GMT)
According to TLG latest blog the Webster show is almost sold out, and the Boston and NY shows still have tickets available, they are both on target to sell out. So while posters in these areas will help ensure that, there is no need to be in panic-mode. This particular stretch of shows throughout the south seems to be where they need the most help.
