wee_moggie - October 24, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
Are you rooting for the SOX or the ROX?

(I swear, I did not make that up--it was on espn.com)

Tonight is Game One at Boston at 5pm PST on Fox!

The Sox and the Rox on Fox! :rotfl:

I know! When did they get Gagne?

I've gotta root for the Rockies--they're the underdog and they've never made it this far. Plus, it would be great for Todd Helton to get a World Series ring to cap off his career.

No doubt here, the Rockies, :) being a Colorado gal.

In addition they are the definite underdog yet have had won 21 of their last 22 games, w/o any big names on their roster. They have the all-time best fielding percentage, ever. They have committed the fewest errors this year in either league. They are a humble, unknown team of young men that play as a team, for team, not individual, statistics. They have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball, many of their players have made it up through the ranks of the Rockie's farm teams. They are your everyman's team....ummm, sounds like someone else I'm a fan of.

Their manager was once a up and coming phenom in the 70's who has a lot of character. See the below articles about how he has his life priorities in order.

This is a fun article about the wait Colorado/Denver has endured for good baseball.

Anyway, imo, if you are an Elliott fan, you can't help but pull for the Rockies.

Ah, we have a Rockies expert!

brwneydgirl - October 25, 2007 04:51 AM (GMT)
I'm rooting for the Rockies...wow, they got killed tonight. :(

Etrainrider - October 25, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Maybe that eight day layoff did have a negative effect. Beckett is pitching in another zone right now. We'll see how tonight goes.

Go SOX!!!

wee_moggie - October 25, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Ouch. Last night was painful. The Red Sox beat the Rockies 13-1. You have to hand it to Josh Beckett. He was amazing.

Game Two tonight at 5pm PST.

wowhesgood - October 25, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
Yep, Beckett pitched on heck of a game and the Rockies were certainly off theirs. Hoping the Rockies can regroup for tonight's game. They have great attitudes so I'm staying positive. :)

I have no idea when they got him...these players get traded so much it's hard to keep up....
Hopefully the Rockies will shake it off and come back with a win tonight...

GO ROX!!!!!!!!! with an R not an S!!!!!!!
Yow! Last night was painful to watch. Hope it lit a fire under them though.

wee_moggie - October 26, 2007 04:45 AM (GMT)
I don't know what is more painful, losing 13-1 or losing 2-1. The Red Sox pitching has been on fire. I've alwasy been a fan of Curt Schilling, even though he says strange things sometimes. And Jonathan Papelbon is good and just plain silly!

Did you notice that the Sox bullpen has those noise sticks and kept banging the roof of the bullpen all during the game?

Carryviking - October 26, 2007 06:13 PM (GMT)
I'm only rooting for Colorado in one game and might go for Boston most of the time. I do like Schilling and glad he did ok.

mombell - October 26, 2007 06:45 PM (GMT)
i am an cleveland indian fan rooting for the the rockies

wee_moggie - October 27, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
Game Three tonight at 5pm PST in Colorado! Maybe the home crowd will help the Rockies out.

yellin4yamin - October 29, 2007 04:10 AM (GMT)
Hey Chloe...the Sox just won it...ask you hubs, How bout them Yankee's???

*Runs from room before she changes her mind about the Boston show...lollllllll*

xo

wee_moggie - October 29, 2007 04:38 AM (GMT)
Yep, the Sox won, and I have to hand it to them, their pitching throughout was absolutely amazing. I really wish it had been the Rockies, but, if they had to lose, at least they lost to a team who has such die-hard fans. Lots of celebrating going on!

chloewannabee - October 29, 2007 12:52 PM (GMT)
:eww:
nuff said!

wowhesgood - October 29, 2007 02:53 PM (GMT)
Awww, my poor Rockies. I'm positive though that next year they'll continue on. Their payroll is only about $90million less that the Sox's but I hope management leaves the current team in tact, they are such a great group of men. One of the local sportscasters in Denver talked about how much love & respect they were all showing eachother in the locker room last night. He was so impressed and said he'd never seen anything like it.

Etrainrider - October 29, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
Well it's a great day in New England. It just doesn't get any better than this. While it feels great to sweep, I will offer my congratulations to the Rockies for a great season. They made it interesting for a couple of innings.

Now for the few Red Sox fans on this board I offer you this.

wee_moggie - October 30, 2007 12:21 AM (GMT)

brwneydgirl - October 30, 2007 05:58 AM (GMT)
Sorry to the Rockies & their fans. I was rooting for you. :( Good luck next year!

go_noles06 - October 30, 2007 03:21 PM (GMT)
YEAH!! I'm so glad that it is over!!! I'm not a pro baseball fan, but my husband is. He has been worthless since the season started (just like 2004 when the Red Sox won) and I'm ready to have him back! No more screaming and yelling at the tv - now it will just be at me LOL!! jk

I have about one more week of hearing that stupid "Big Poppy" song and he should have it out of his system. Hopefully...
