Title: Ey Holiday Collection
Description: Selling at amazon
mel0207 - October 25, 2007 02:53 AM (GMT)
They start at 16.98, more than double the Target price.
wandergirl - October 25, 2007 07:09 AM (GMT)
How much is it at Target? I have two prices in my head, but these can't be the prices: $11.99/$14.99

Elliott's Holiday CDs at Target are $6.99.
Elliott's Holiday CDs on Amazon are resales. People bought the CDs at Target for $6.99 and are now selling them on Amazon for a profit. Elliott does not get any of the extra profit. Better to buy at Target.
Rutti - October 25, 2007 12:51 PM (GMT)
What a rip off! To Elliott and to the fan who falls for it and buys from Amazon at that price!
peppers23 - October 25, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)
I still can't get a copy from my local Target, which hasn't received a single copy yet and they also cannot tell me when they will get E's cd in-stock. So I'm not shocked the cd is selling for 2x face value on Amazon.
mel0207 - October 25, 2007 02:25 PM (GMT)
I was lucky enough to get mine at Target, so I was surprised when I saw them forsale at Amazon, since this is a Target exclusive. Just wanted to alert the etrain about this, and others who happen upon this site, so that they know these are resales. The CD is much cheaper at Target, and as has been stated, Elliott doesn't get any of this profit that the Amazon sellers are making.
I hope everyone here gets their CDs very soon, it's got to be frustrating waiting for it so long after the release date. It would be ideal if there is a nice supply all the way through the holiday season.
Attention Target: Get the CD on the shelves, already!! There are lots of Elliott fans who NEED the CD!! ;)

I wonder if it is now available through Target online?

I agree. Unfortunately there are probably a lot of people who don't know it is a Target exclusive. It doesn't say "Sounds of the Season" (which people may associate with Target) on the listing. It lists it as "The Elliott Yamin Holiday Collection." Some people are going to be ripped off, that's for sure.

I don't believe that these Christmas cds -- a Target tradition -- have ever been made available through Target online. I think they're essentially one more ploy to get folks into the store. ...
I have a lot of trouble getting to Target, so I bought my copies from Ebay stores -- higher price, but Ebay stores and Amazon sellers are the only alternative for those of us who can't get to an actual Target bricks-and-mortar store, so I, for one, am glad that they're selling them.
wowhesgood - October 25, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
When I'd been checking online before I was able to get on at the store it almost looked like some of the previous year's cds were available online. Perhaps they are leftovers they are trying to get rid of? I had done a search at Target.com for Sounds of the Season.

Yes, I think once the holiday season is over they do put some of them up, but I've never seen one up during the holiday season in which it was offered -- I looked for John Legend's and some other people's in the past, and they weren't there. ... And I wouldn't bet on their having leftovers of Elliott's after the holidays, so I went Ebay!
Elliott's recently said that the album reverts to his ownership after the holiday season, though, so it sounds like he'll be selling it in the usual outlets eventually....Maybe that's what others are doing as well?

Thanks, yellin! :D

It is convenient to have it online if there are logistic issues, to be sure. I would buy it online if I had to, and it would be worth every penny to me.
Comparing 6:99 to 16.98 though, what a big difference! Did you have to pay much in shipping?
hip-yamized - October 25, 2007 06:41 PM (GMT)
Mel- I got mine from Ebay too. It was buy-it-now, shipping was 2.95 so total was 17.94.
There are three on ebay now that range from 11.99 to 14.99 (buy-it-now) plus shipping from 4.95 to 5.00

I did the "buy it now" option rather than bidding -- Couldn't risk not getting it!, so that ran up my tab a bit, maybe... Anyway, I paid $16.44 total, for one, including shipping, and $16.78, total, for the other (for my mom, who is also Target-challenged). Worth every cent, of course. (Wish the money went to Elliott, of course, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do ... )

I did a little searching and found out that cds sold exclusively at one retailer - such as at Target or Walmart, etc. - are not eligible for the Billboard chart.

I had been under the impression that it is stores that sell used music, books, etc. that are part of Amazon's marketplace sellers rather than ordinary customers. I bought a DVD that way one time. Amazon handled the payment and a used movie store handled the shipping. It's a good alternative if you can't find it in your local stores.

Those prices arn't too bad, about what a regular CD costs sometimes. (The prices vary so much.)
If I hadn't found one at Target, and the prospects weren't looking good for whatever reason, I would be exact same way: I wouldn't want to risk it. I'd be gettin' one online, asap. Whatever I had to do, within reason of course. ;)
I think Target will have few if any of Elliott's Christmas CD left on the shelves by the end of the holiday season. They're selling like hotcakes and in some neighborhoods they're a rare commodity!
mel0207 - October 26, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
When I started this thread, I had just saw the CD for sale on Amazon for a price more than 2 times that of Target. I was surprised.
After reading everyone's posts, I'm glad that those who cannot get the CD at Target are able to get the CD from places like Amazon or Ebay.
I do feel however bad about the pricing difference. Elliott's CD is worth it though, if it comes down to having the CD or NOT having the CD.
On to the One Word video thread!!! :1word:
georgiafan1 - October 26, 2007 02:12 AM (GMT)
I believe that some E-Train members will probably be willing to send Elliott's holiday CD to E-Train members who don't have access to Target.
