Title: I Finally Got E's Christmas Cd
mike83 - October 25, 2007 07:02 PM (GMT)
My mom went out and surprised me when she came home. I can't drive due to my condition so I had to rely on her to get it. If I could drive I would be there every day bugging them until they got it.
I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I will post about it when I do.
I'm especially interested to hear Let's be Naughty, but I bet it is a lot tamer than it sounds.

You're going to love it Mike. I'll be interested to hear what you think about each song. ( So hurry and listen) LOL

Mike
Enjoy it!!
Aside from This Christmas, and The Christmas Song(Chestnuts), , Lets Be Naughty is my favorite track! I LOVE it!

I'm done listening:
I knew Elliott would make Let's be Naughty less risque. It sounded like a playful song and kids can take that to mean bad to mom and dad. I think the naked and nasty naughty part in the original would not have been good and I think Elliott knew that.
That was the best rendition of Jingle Bells I have ever heard. It was like nothing I've heard before. I don't know some of those songs because I listen to almost no Christmas music usually.
This Christmas was great last year and the same this year.
Little Drummer Boy was not my favorite because Elliott didn't seem to let it loose at least enough for me
Merry Christmas, Baby was awesome and Elliott sang perfect on it
The Christmas Song was another superb rendition
A Very Merry Xmas was very good but I wonder why in the song he says Christmas but it is written as Xmas in the track listing. Tony Reyes made a very good holiday song that can become a classic (it might just be Elliott's voice though)
Now saving the best for last: Warm Me Up was incredible and I can see that played on the radio and I hope he sings that on the Today show or the Rockefeller Center Christmas lighting. He shined on this song
As a jew who listens to almost no christmas music I would definitely listen to it more and that says a lot. I didn't like Little Drummer Boy but the rest ranged from good to incredible.
I give it a B+ and since Target and NBC probably had a huge say in this I can't blame Elliott for song choices. Also, I don't know Christmas music enough to suggest better songs.
Elliott never ceases to amaze me

Xmas is slang for Christmas. It's like, instead of Wait For You, it's Wait For U.

I always thought it was said as "EX MAS" well I am showing my total lack of Christian exposure. I always said to friends or coworkers Merry Christmas or even occasionally Merry Xmas, now I feel like a complete idiot.

Mike, I too love the switched up version of Jingle Bells. Sounds like a jam session to a very plain song. Elliott brings new life to it so much so I am amazed .
I also love " The Christmas Song" . A wonderful song and Elliott sings it with a warmth that makes the Christmas Spirit come alive.
Warm Me Up the most contemporary song is another favorite.
I also think Let's be Naughtry is very well done. I enjoy it and could see that as a classic. The old time feel , the sound of the brushes on the snare drum is a warm kind of softness that brings me back to a different time .
Of course I love" This Christmas "too. This song I have listened to in June, July and August so you know it has to be a favorite.
And Elliott growling on Merry Christmas Baby.. how HOT is that!!

I've been trying to remember all of the version of "Little Drummer Boy" that I've heard over the years and I don't remember any artist ever letting loose on that song. I always remember it as being sung in a subdued and/or soulful manner. It's one of my favorite Christmas songs.

Like with his other cd each song has merits. I love a Very Merry Xmas too for it's R&B funkiness and Elliott's voice is perfect, perfect on it. I'm not usually a big fan of Little Drummer Boy but this is simply a lovely arrangement.
Noticed that the homepage at AI now has links to listen to This Christmas and Warm Me Up.....

Glad you got the Elliott's holiday CD Mike. I was wondering what you felt about it. There had been some concern that "Let's Be Naughty" may not be family friendly, but it all turned out to be good. :) I prefer that the other, more riskier lines were left out too because I would have had to skip that one with my kids around. ALL of the songs are wonderful to me, I like each and every one for different reasons, but Merry Christmas, Baby, Jingle Bells (the BEST version of this song I've heard!) and Warm Me Up are my favorites. Warm Me Up wraps up the album so nicely, it just seems like the rest of the songs flow into it, and get wrapped up by it, like cuddling up in a warm blanket. It creates such a cozy, warm feeling.
I think I've been listening to that CD too much, lol.
I'm really getting into "A Very Merry Xmas" - it seems to be growing on me! I liked it before, but now WOW!
