Title: Going To Elliott's Concert For The First Time
Outofmymind - November 5, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
In this post i wanted to share my first Elliott concert experience which happened this Friday November 2nd.
It was my wife's birthday and i reserved 2 vip tickets for the occasion since Elliott visited Greensboro NC that day (what a coincidence!)
I didn't tell my wife what kind of concert we were going to see, and she didn't figure it out until she saw the ad up on the giant electronic panel outside the club.
Sarah wasn't feeling very well that day, (she is pregnant) and i offered the option to not go, but then she said "There is NO WAY we are skipping this concert!) even though she had no idea who the singer was.
Anyway... We were waiting on the line for more than an hour until they got us in. The VIP section unfortunately was up high, far from the stage, and the only way to see the stage was to stand by the rail the whole time, which by the way was hard cause there was already an impenetrable wall of people standing there.
And my wife was feeling weak that day so we just went back and sat on a couch for a while since it was Josh Hodge playing first and then the "Last Good Night" band.
Josh was ok, although he did more talking than singing, then there was the Last Good Night which were just too darn AWFULLY LOUD to enjoy. I hopped the sound mixing for Elliott wouldn't bury his voice under the awfully loud drums and bass.
Elliott came to stage after almost two and a half hours of waiting. He was very jolly off stage with his friends. Sway was there as well, and they all seemed to have a lot of fun.
My impression of Elliott was that of a singer that has matured on stage to the point that he is just having fun and gives 200% of himself on every performance.
Elliott totally blew my mind that night. I couldn't believe my ears! i enjoyed every second of his performances, especially cause Sarah by my side was singing all the lyrics and cheering by the end of every song. She was having so much fun, and i was glad she enjoyed so much my birthday present for her.
So to conclude my long post... The concert was awesome! Elliott sang ASFY at the end, and that was a perfect conclusion for a total mind blowing concert.
I'm very happy for his improvement as a singer. He totally rocks the stage now and has nothing to fear, no one to compare to.
Now if only he quit that smoking habit....
BTW we met with HarleyWoman (she recognized me at the waiting line.) It was nice to meet her and chat with her a bit between the performances. She is a regular at Elliott's concerts and knew much about everything and everyone.
I wish that concert was 4 hours of Elliott alone. I didn't get enough of him. Hopefully we'll see him again soon!

Outofmymind, so happy to hear from you - you have been very busy since the days back on the AI fansite for Elliott when I first read your wonderful posts. I'm so thrilled that there are so many of us who have loved Elliott from the beginning still checking in, posting, going to concerts, etc. Wishing you and Sarah and baby all the best.

Yes, "not enough Elliott" is definitely an increasing problem...The Christmas album is helping a lot though!
