Title: My "Elliott" Free Trip
Description: Silly husband

tofu - November 8, 2007 04:14 AM (GMT)
I know this is of no importance, but I just have to share with my Elliott family,

My husband has been pretty understanding of my love for Elliott (and now Josh Hoge). He has let me get just alittle crazy more then once, put up with some tears and even my hours on the computer for quite awhile.
When I flew to Indy & got to meet Elliott my hubby thouhgt "Oh thank god it's finally over she met him" silly boy.

Well we drove down to Baltimore to play with our grandbabies for a few days it's about 6 hours. Before we leave home my hubby tells me this trip is going to be "ELLIOTT FREE"

I'm like WHAT???

Yes no Elliott, hide the Cd's the ipod all of it. I refused to give up my cell phone with WFY ring tone. Which every time my phone rings I say "Elliott's calling me" I truely thought I might die on this trip.

Well we stopped at a Mcdonalds in PA sit down to have a snack and guess what...
I get this big smile on my face and say listen to what I hear, YEP it was Elliott on the radio WFY. I told my hubby see there is no such thing as Elliott free. Ok so he rolls his eyes and accepts I couldn't have planned this one.

So we take our son & grandbabies out to dinner while mommy gets some me time to herself. Guess who we hear again at a restaurant you guessed it Elliott.
I tell my son the "ELLIOTT FREE" idea his dad had for this trip. He just starts laughing.

Even heard Elliott at the mall at Columbia Elliott is everywhere I was just tickled pinked!!

On the way back home we stop at the same Mcdonalds and you guessed it Elliott is singing to me again.

So my hubby learned a very important life lesson. You can take the Elliott stuff away from the girl, but you can't take Elliott from the world!!

:1word: No such thing as "Elliott Free"! GREAT story - thanks for sharing!

AngELL - November 8, 2007 04:38 AM (GMT)
That is the BEST tale ever!! Elliott is everywhere...and we helped!! (Big smile!)

farmgirl59 - November 8, 2007 04:39 AM (GMT)
That's a really cute story, Tofu! Thanks for sharing! Did your hubby REALLY think it was going to be Elliott free? You are going to have to teach him,
A DAY WITHOUT ELLIOTT, IS LIKE A DAY WITHOUT SUNSHINE! :)

ithad2bu - November 8, 2007 05:19 AM (GMT)
What a great story, Tofu! A day without Elliott is like a day without sunshine!

BIG kudos to that McDonalds for having such terrific taste in music! Sounds like the universe was on your side for that trip.

I love it Tofu! Thanks for sharing. :rotfl:

*Ain't no sunshine when E's gone, whoa whoa whoa.* (that will make Tofu think of Elliott and Josh at the same time :thud: )

Silly man!!! Did he really think you'd be "over it" now that you've met him???? :rotfl: :rotfl:
Not gonna happen. It's WORSE now, right????

Tofu, what a cute story. Sounds like your hubby and mine are from the same school!! Thanks for sharing.

lindagt - November 8, 2007 12:15 PM (GMT)
That's such a great story! When will they get it that he's a superstar now - you can't escape it!

My DH used to think it would be over after "one more thing" but he's given up. I don't play E's music around him anymore, but we got in the car the other day and I started the car and One Word came on - I told him - "that's not me - that's the radio - not my fault"

nymphadora - November 8, 2007 01:15 PM (GMT)
Love your story, tofu. It's so cute and funny! Thanks for sharing. :)

anj - November 8, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
Tofu, that was a good one! Hope your DH has learned his lesson. hahahaha
I hope E grows on him.

I am (almost!) seriously worried about myself--and all of us! E is our new oxygen! Do not think it is possible to go on breathing without much daily dosages of him! Whew!!

I can't even reasonably explain the phenomenon. Why would a 44 yr. old women be obsessed....I mean OBSESSED, like I am. I've never been a "fan" of anyone until now. What's the deal??

I was lol at myself yesterday. I was in the car a good bit, and listened to the Christmas CD straight through about 5 times. Never mind, I usually don't pull out my Christmas music until much later than this.

The first think I do every morning...even though there are many things I should be doing, is

1. Turn on the pc
2. Make coffee
3. Take out my dog
4. Open the etrainstation
5. Start my days work late EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!! (even though I vow every night to just spend a few moments, I can't seem to do it.)

I've even tried to talk myself into going cold turkey because I really feel guilty because I put so much time and effort into all things Elliott. What's a girl to do??

AngELL - November 8, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
I was always a workaholic...now my astrally-projected "self" looks down on me sitting at the puter all day going..tsk-tsk-tsk! but can't seem to tear myself away! We joked about yaminitis but it is real and life-threatening, lol! (feel like a vampire infecting all my friends...)

LOL, Linda, I can totally identify with that! Except I don't even have a dog to take out....feed the birds maybe? haha...

Tofu, all these husbands must be alike because I have the same problem...Like Nansetta's husband's shirt, 'until Elliott came along I was #1'.....maybe they all feel that way. LOL

PoorMe - November 8, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
That's a great story, tofu. I really need to spend more time out in public so I can have a public Elliott experience. I'm just sitting in front of the computer way to much these days . . . and it's all Elliott's fault!

go_noles06 - November 10, 2007 09:52 PM (GMT)
Silly husbands!! Mine just had to learn to live with it. ;)

My life to has changed the same way!!
I never went to a concert until the AI concert to see Elliott.
Now I truely sit around trying to figure out how to get to more concerts
when I shoulld be doing housework. I've forgotten what a clean house is suppose to look like :rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: What a cute story tofu, I can't believe I missed it.

Silly husbands, when will they realise they could actually benefit by their wive's obsession um enthusiasm for E ;)

I still haven't heard WFY at Wal-mart, Target, the grocery store, the Olive Garden, JoAnn Fabrics, the automotive store. :bawl: I know he's everywhere but I keep missing him :(

Linda, I can totally relate. I'm 40 and I've never felt like this about a public figure before. I watched him on AI, and I've followed his career ever since. I've bought his CDs and attended one of his concerts. I listen to his music everyday and check Etrain just about everyday to keep up with what he's doing. Most of the time when I listen to a CD I know very little or nothing about the person singing. It is nice to know what I do about E, and to have supported him from the beginning. It feels (almost) like I'm supporting a friend.

Well, I'm not married but the E-train is definitely on boyfriend status, lol.... It doesn't help that I have alot of down time at work right now either. If I tracked how many hours I spend on here im sure I'd be shocked & appauled.... (shakes head), it really is a sickness, lol.... (is it bad that I have no desire to be cured??? ;) )

sherwood - November 15, 2007 09:02 PM (GMT)
This thread is better than that one we had ages ago about how boyfriends and husbands feel about Elliott. Maybe one of them should start a support site, like AlAnon, and we'll send all our husbands there!

Not to make anybody jealous or anything, but my DH really likes Elliott, thinks he has the greatest voice since Elvis, and also what you said, mel. If I don't talk about Elliott (and I usually don't), DH asks 'how's your boyfriend doing today?' He was even insisting I go to Richmond for the State Fair concert, and to this day I'm p.o'd I didn't take him up on it.

Fortunately, my husband likes Elliott's music, too. He's actually the reason I even found out that Elliott was scheduled to do a show near us. And, the one time I said to him that I wondered if I was becoming obsessed with Elliott--this was after seeing him perform live and meeting him--my husband lovingly said to me, "I don't think so. You're just a real fan."

That was a cute story, Tofu. It looks like you were supposed to hear Elliott on that trip!

AngELL - November 16, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
Elliott makes me so happy! How can that be wrong?
