I'm still grinning ear to ear about this. When I went to my family reunion near Pittsburgh in May, I bought extra tickets to Elliott's concert which was happening the next day. I tried to convince some of my relatives at the reunion to join me and my sister with no takers. My cousin Tom said he didn't know who Elliott was. We have a family mailing list and every time I posted about one of my Elliott concerts, Tom made some sort of comment about still not knowing who this "Elliot dude" is. (Yes he always spelled it with one t)

Without any forewarning, I sent him the Christmas CD this week. He just posted this to our family mailing list (shh, don't tell him I'm sharing a part of his email):

OK, OK, Mar, you win. I'm now an Elliott Yamin devotee. After my last posting, Mar sent me his Christmas album. I did give it a listen and have to admit, it's pretty OK. I don't know what kind of music he sings out of season, but his Christmas album is really worth listening to.

Great post! I'm pretty thrilled my Boston gf sat and watched (intently) a lot of the latest E performing youtubes--and when I asked what she thought..well, the look on her face was like "What do YOU think????" She's smitten! Ain't it fun?

Don't forget about your friend John :), you're a good recruiter. I've purchased a few Christmas CD's to spread the love too.

I figured that this was the best place for my new fan story. I took my sister with me to see Elliott at Highline on Nov. 20. She was just excited to go, not because of E, but that she would be getting out for the night with other adults. Frankly.....she has never understood my rabid obsession with Elliott. I must tell you that I didn't think she had a good time because of all the waiting and standing and that we got home super late. She said to me that, she will only come with me to "something like that" on a weekend. She did say that she enjoyed herself...but I wasn't too sure.

Fast forward a couple of weeks later................we are sitting and talking and she says to me and my mom that she would definitely go to another E concert, if I was going. She said that he is a really good live performer. At one point.....she even said that she would like to get his CD for Christmas (hint, hint). Well you didn't have to tell me twice. I went out today to get it for her. It is on sale in Target this week. I will give it to her for her birthday instead, because it is in a couple of weeks. YEAH!!!!! ANOTHER CONVERT!!!!!

As a side bar to my story.........as I was paying for the CD the cashier asked me who the cd was for. I must have had a very confused look on my face. I couldn't imagine why she would want to know. I said that it was a gift for my sister. She said that she really liked Elliott on AI and that he is really doing great things and looks great. She went on to say that she really loved his music. I was shocked and estatic that I didn't have to explain to her who he was. I told her that I was suprised that she knew who he was by looking at the cd cover. She said "of course I know who he is!" I told her that he just finished touring in our area( she seemed very bummed that she missed it). I found myself continuing to gush about E to her...but she didn't seem to mind.

When I have experiences like the one I had today....it makes me so happy and proud to be following his career. I've said it before and I will say it again...WE ARE WITNESSING THE MAKING OF A TRUE MUSICAL LEGEND!

PS---there were only 3 Elliott Christmas CD left on the shelf!! :xmascheerleader:
