Description: WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO
chloewannabee - November 15, 2007 01:18 PM (GMT)
I just got an email from Eric Chase, the afternoon dj at b-104. I entered some contest there and received this reply
"Nice answer for the “age” slot in our BVIP directory lol
Can I use your playlist this Friday. You’l get some kidzbop live tix."
:rotfl:
I think it starts at 5P.M. Obviously, my first 2 choices on the playlist were One Word, and Wait For You, so I am really hoping he plays them both.
I don't even remember what the rest of my choices were. :rotfl:
Oh and btw, KIDZBOP??????????????????????????????
WhaAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT IS THAT?
p.s. THEY HAVE A VOTING THING GOING ON...hERE'S THE LINK

Kidzbop are those CDs where little kids sing hit songs. I see the commercials and automatically turn it off (very annoying)

Eric Chase from WAEB. I stop at the diner next to the station occasionally in my travels in PA . I have chatted on E-mail with Eric last week . He is getting many requests for One Word he stated back to me.
I requested only once. They are not playing One Word. Only reasoning is he said a street team was trying to get One Word played. I told him that Elliott has many legitimate fans and I was not a Street team member. I don't think we should mention E-train or Street team . I mentioned the diner next to the station in my return E-mail and he wrote me back with this information with " I thought you were a street team member . He is a decent enough guy.

Thanks for sharing this.
This is why I mentioned earlier that it's not a good idea to use e-mail too much. DJs tend to think of e-mail campaigns as "street team" requests whether or not they actually are. You did a good job explaining that you know the station and area, but unfortunately this won't erase his conclusion that other requests for Elliott are merely street team driven. I don't know what else we can do here.
I agree with you that it's never a good idea to reveal that there is a fanbase. Just don't mention it.

Eric said he was getting alot of requests for One word. It may be the voting on his webpage for the song. Elliott is extremely ahead there with votes. He did not say it was E-mail.. it could be anything extreme in requesting , whether it be votes, phones or e-mail. Too many out of state phone numbers has to be a turn off too. We can only explain just so much. We just need to take it slow and steady.
Some stations are welcoming any requests. Some Dj's are touchy and don't like lots of requests flooding in .It is different when there is a face off. A dj is asking the public to contact the station with their choice of what song they like. They want a response.
There are so many kinds of dj's and getting to know their turn off and their style of what is appropriate is what we have to learn as a requester.

Lots of good points here. The only thing I'd slightly argue with is the face-off issue. As far as I can tell, they want to hear from LOCALS in these things. They do expect the fanbases to a certain extent, but more the *local* fanbases.
But you're totally right that it always depends on the DJ. I've really only seen e-mail work when you build up a repoire with a DJ over time.
In some of these smaller markets, it's a problem when anything sticks out as a huge number of votes. You may be right that part of this is due to the way Elliott sticks out on the online vote for One Word. I hope people here aren't power voting on that one.
But calls shouldn't be a problem, generally, as long as the callers aren't giving away that they don't know the station or area at all. E-mails are easily traceable, but tons of people have cell numbers with out of area codes nowadays.

:dunno:
Uhhh, have I done something wrong here?
The reason I mentioned the voting thing is because, oh yea, it states to vote as many times as you want.
Never mentioned the e-train, nor a street team, and i do stream the station at work. B)

No. Chloe. You're fine. It can't be any one person here who's at fault. We just need to make sure people aren't power voting, EXCEPT for Jojo's and Vh1. It's too obvious when people do it at these smaller stations.

I just got a phone call from Eric Chase. He said he will be playing Elliott's both songs starting at 5p.m, along with the rest of my playlist, We had a nice chat. He asked me if I saw him at E's Allentown concert, Told him that was us in the front row, and he said, Oh yea, I saw you people. Asked if I was an Elliott fan, or just a fan of American Idol. I saw no reason not to admit it, so I said I am an Elliott fan. Then I told him I won tix to the Allentown Brewworks mini concert. He wanted to know how liked it. Told him it was great, big thanks to Kelly and Cramer.
He was very nice, so if you want to hear One Word and WFY tune in at 5:00 p.m.
P.s He LOVED the concert!!!!!!!!!111
