Title: Roxy In Boston
Description: Great time at the Roxy!
efan22 - November 25, 2007 05:29 AM (GMT)
Well, I am not going to write too much because I am exhausted...and because there were so many E-Trainers there who could probably do a better job than me...but it was a great concert. I just want to say that I totally underestimated Elliott's Boston fan base. When we got to the Roxy, the line was at least a block long and then went around the corner. I was amazed!! I even stopped and asked somebody if this was the line for Elliott and it was!! The fans were all ages, most were actually in their 20's and 30's and about as many men as women! I was so excited for Elliott to have this kind of turnout in Boston. It was awesome! Before the concert, only my group of friends and Timbidd showed up at the Rock Bottom. We had dinner and it was nice to meet another Etrainer, but disappointed that nobody else came. Then we headed over to the Roxy and waited in the long line. From that point to the end of the concert, I was on my feet for 4 hours...(it was a standing only concert!) with a bad back and bad knees, only for Elliott would I do this!! The concert was great as it always is! Elliott was fantastic and the crowd totally loved him!! After the concert I met Music Maker, Chloe, Rick and a few others (sorry, can't remember names!!). It was so much fun to meet all of you!! It was a great time!! :1word:

This concert was AMAZING. Except for the woman who passed out on top of me!!! Oh well. Sorry I didn't see that there was a meeting of etrainers...would have been fun! I wish I could get a chance to meet Elliott...I never have gotten to and it totally bums me out :(
efan22 - November 25, 2007 06:08 AM (GMT)
I didn't see that, someone really passed out? Drunk, or just because there was not a lot of air in there, where people were standing in front of the stage it was very crowded and got very stuffy.
I've been posting for a month, trying to get people to meet at the Rock Bottom before the concert. That's too bad you didn't see it. but glad you made it to the concert and had a good time!! It was amazing!

Thanks for the recap, efan22. :)
MJ also posted at her blog that she was at the Roxy concert and that Elliott sounded great. She said she didn't get any videos but got lots of pictures which she will put up tomorrow. She also said that Jojo (the pop singer) was there. Did you see her? :)

Thanks SO much for taking the time to post before you headed to bed! It was really sweet of you & I am sure you are absolutely exhausted! Sorry that you weren't able to meet up with more Etrainers, maybe next time will work out better! I know I love meeting people from the boards! It feels like a family reunion in a way!
Sweet dreams & thanks again for posting tonight, BOTH of you!! :1word:

Thanks for the recap efan22. Sounds like a great concert. I'm glad there was a nice crowd!

We were there too efan. I might have seen you. Were you at the Haverhill show too? We had thought about the Rock Bottom but were running kind of late into the city so we (my hubby and I) just decicded to have dinner at the PF Changs which was right next door to the Transportation Building where we parked. We thought maybe there'd be time to stop in where you all were before heading over to the Roxy but we had just enough time to get over to the Roxy by 6:00.
You're right about the line. It was long and boy was it cold out there. Glad I had my winter coat on. I thought the Roxy was a nice place. Hubby had been there years ago. They have two levels. The downstairs had some cushy velvet booths and chairs but there weren't many and all were filled pretty quickly. Lots of chandeleirs and disco balls over the dance floor in front of the stage. We decided to stand on the floor back by the sound guy. There was railing there we could lean against and if tall people came and stood in front of us we could sit on there which came in handy several times. I didn't get too many pictures because my camera batteries died and I think I was too far back anyway for them to turn out all that well. Hoping that Rick our resident photographer came through and got some good ones.
I really was impressed by everyone. Had never seen Josh or TLG before and I enjoyed their sets. I am happy for the success they are having as well. Loved how they all thanked each other for getting to tour with each other and Elliott. Josh said he was dedicating a song to Russell cause he kept asking him too. Some kind of inside joke there. LOL! He said Boston was one of his fav cities to play and it was his thrid time playing there. Elliott also thanked Kurtis' family for having them all for thanksgiving. Elliott also said he still has a special place in his heart for Boston as it was where he decided to go for it. He said this before doing ASFY.
Elliott sounded so good. You could not tell at all that this was one of the last tour dates. Elliott has done a great job protecting his voice during the tour even with the bouts of sickness that he's had. Watching Kelly Clarkson the other night during halftime of the Dallas game, I just cringed for her. Her voice sounded so ragged and hoarse. So glad this hasn't happened to Elliott at all from what I can tell.
We didn't stay to meet anyone. They were ushering people out of there pretty quickly after the show. I had wanted to get my Christmas CD signed but thats ok. since I have my other one signed and have a pic already with Elliott. I would love to hear from those who went to the sound check party.

ETrainer, I was in Haverhill too. And the Celtics game. Great that JoJo was there again tonight. She must be a huge fan. I loved Haverhill because it was accoustic and so you could really just enjoy Elliott''s voice. Also, it was just so close up and personal without the huge crowd. And then getting to meet Elliott afterwards. That was just an awesome experience! I loved the Roxy concert with the energy of Elliott singing with the whole band. His band is fantastic! And they don't overpower his voice. Also, I forgot to mention, it was so cute at the end of Elliott's set, Josh came on stage and lifted him up... very funny...
Of the 3 concerts I've been to, the Celtics was my least favorite. That was a tough crowd, and Elliott didn't really connect. But last night was great, and I can't wait for his next stop in Boston whenever that might me!!

Thanks for the wonderful recaps. I think that all of the guys really bonded during this tour and it's going to be hard to say goodbye. Heck, it's going to be hard for us to say goodbye; it's been wonderful reading about everyone's experiences and having my own to cherish.

I think JoJo and Elliott met at that Kiss Concert in LA some months back.
She is sooo different from teen pop singers, in that,
SHE CAN ACTUALLY SING. ;-)

http://mjsbigblog.com/?p=3307&cp=1#commentsBTW, I went to see Elliott tonight. I was standing right next to the speakers on the left, so video was pointless, but I got a TON of pictures.
I’ll put something up tomorrow…
PS, he sounded great! Jo jo the pop singer was there.

Yes efan that was a nice moment went Josh came on stage at the end of Movin On and lifted up Elliott in a big bear hug. Might I also add that rendition of Movin' On was just awesome! He really killed it. :rocker:
Another cool moment was when Kurtis from the TLG took off his jacket to reveal some bling around his neck which happened to be a big sparkly "B" necklace which was a shout out to the World Champion Red Sox! :cheerleader1:
That's cool about Jo Jo. I know she's originally from Foxboro, MA so I'm sure she's been home spending time with family. Love that she's a fan too.

We were there didn't get to meet any of you...We were at the RockBottom too on the bar side, the food was great. Then once inside well I guess all you etrainers were near the stage. I had my husband and nephew with me, I was lucky my husband went never mind getting him close to the stage. It was a really good show. I wish there were stools around the tables though it was tough to stand all night.

http://news.bostonherald.com/entertainment...ticleid=1046981Vote in ’Idol’ Yamin as future r&b star
By Christopher John Treacy
Monday, November 26, 2007Elliott Yamin should’ve won season five of "American Idol," but his musical personality is perhaps better suited to the less spot-lighted underdog slot.
At the Roxy Saturday, touring his recently gold-certified self-titled debut, Yamin (pronounced Yah-mean) showed his velvety smooth pipes are worthy of more than third place. Yet his performance also underscored the need to dispense with his CD’s urban slickness in favor of more mature, timeless material that’s better suited to his sizable gifts.
Sure, he sounded fantastic backed by a capable soul-and-jazz sextet on "Alright," "Movin’ On" and "Find a Way," the most tantalizing slices of r & b confection on his CD. Likewise, the iTunes exclusive, "I’ll Be in Love With You Forever," packed a surprising funk wallop.
At barely an hour, Yamin’s set was short but honest -- he sang live, without a mess of fill-in tracks and pitch-control devices (sadly, the same cannot be said of interminably whiney openers The Last Goodnight). The oddly-mixed midsize crowd could’ve used a shot of adrenaline, but at least it was well-behaved.
In a white button-down, suit vest and newsboy cap over his unruly bush of curls, Yamin wore his scruffiness well. He said he was thrilled to be back in Boston, since this was where he auditioned for "Idol."
But it’s the passion with which this partially deaf, 29-year-old Jewish white boy from Virginia belted out Donny Hathaway’s "Little Ghetto Boy" and Leon Russell’s "A Song for You" (Yamin’s version of which is modeled after Hathaway’s) that rendered precision-engineered radio fodder such as "Wait For You," "Take My Breath Away" and "I’m the Man" as inarguably limp.
The disparity between the depths of feeling that came across during the covers and the more ho-hum material weighing down his debut proves that Yamin can transcend the trappings of modern r & b with grace and style. Not only can he handle himself in grittier territory, he needs it if he’s going to survive.
