Title: Robyn, Matt & Kids Troy Recap
Description: Wow Wow Wow

Warning— really really long recap---
I was still on a high from seeing and meeting Elliott in NYC—and I knew I had to see him one more time—I was being greedy but I really HAD to. My kids wanted to see him again anyway, so…......
I knew I couldn’t go to Boston or DC—and Hartford was on the busiest traveling day of the year—so we decided on Troy. 3 ½ hours—no big deal—in the car with 3 kids—are we crazy?? Yes—Elliott and Josh crazy.
Thankfully, Matt listened to the traffic on the way up—and bypassed all of the Woodbury Commons Outlet Mall Black Friday traffic that would have left us sitting in a 14 mile backup of traffic—he is awesome at things like that. :rocker: :awe:
We got to Troy at about 4 and parked. The bus was parked out front of the venue, but none of the guys were outside. The TLG camper was parked behind it. Revolution Hall must have been a very large store at one time—there are huge plate glass windows where we could watch the guys doing soundcheck from the street later on that day. The door to the actual concert room was open—so we walked in. I saw Sway—he came over and hugged us and we chatted for a few minutes. Then Zack—Josh’s road manager also came over to hug us and chat for a minute—the Revolution Hall people were not happy with us being in there so we left and went to the box office to buy tickets.
E was doing several meet & greets—2 for 2 different radio stations and 1 with a group of kids named the Sugar Free Club—the local chapter of the JRDF. Adorable kids. We watched their M&G through the windows.
I then got on line- there was a group of 5 women in front of me, then me—and no one else. These women had been there since 2PM! And it was FREEZING! Matt took the kids back and forth to the car to warm up, then to a pub a few doors away to get lunch. I, however—was NOT moving out of that line—freezing or not. Tyler- my oldest- was back and forth between Matt in the pub/car and waiting with me in line. There were more people on line by this time—not too many, though. I saw Sway and Joonie—they stopped to say Hi and the kids and I got a pic with them. Eli from TLG came out and I got a pic with him and all 3 kids. Aaron walked by and gave me a hug while I was on the phone with Carol (Cfans)- he spoke to her for a minute on my cell. I also spoke to Leif from TLG. Sweet guy. After a while, E came out to say Hi on his way to the bus. Tyler and I got a pic with him also. He is just so yummy.

Tyler was wearing his brown Elliott t-shirt that he had gotten in Harrisburg. It was signed by E and a few of the guys in Harrisburg but he wanted them all to sign it- and he did get all of the signatures he needed that night. Everyone was so generous and giving with my kids—it was heartwarming. Whenever Tyler asked one of the guys to sign his shirt—they were like “Oh absolutely man.”

After a little while, Matt went to get us all hot chocolate and coffee at the pub—I had been standing outside almost 3 hours and was freezing!
When we got inside, we parked ourselves in my favorite spot—right in front of Aaron and Sway- front row. The room was much smaller than it looked in pics from their website—and the stage was REALLY high. Almost 5 feet high—with 2 jumbo speakers dead center—right in front of E—so we felt we could see better from the side anyway. Matt and I had Jackson who is 6 and Mason who is 9 and Tyler who is almost 13—Jax and Mason never would have been able to see any other way. We did grab a chair for Jax to stand on so he saw everything. It was a great spot. My neck, however, is still sore from looking up so high all night.
Just to give you an idea how high the stage was-- Tyler is about 5'3"

The place filled up pretty fast after they opened the doors at 7PM. There is a 2nd floor balcony that wraps around 3 sides and it was full as well. Mixed crowd—but lots of young kids. The girls we were talking to behind us were 15 and 16, and the 2 girls next to us were in their early 20’s. I didn’t run into any Etrainers—even though I asked EVERYONE I came in contact with if they were Etrainers.

Josh and Trey came on at about 8. Josh was especially cute and funny- and his set was SUPERB. He was really joking around with the crowd—then he sang a piece of Marvin Gaye’s Lets Get It On (WOW!!- he should SO record that) and even sang a little piece of “SexyBack”. He was so laid back and almost giddy—just adorable. His voice was PERFECT and the crowd LOVED him—right from the beginning. I was so happy for him! And yes- Denise—he did thank Trey this time.

Then TLG came on. To give you an idea of how high the stage was—I was in front of Eli and couldn’t see him because he was pretty much blocked by the keyboard! His girlfriend came to stand next to me during their set—she is beautiful- and we chatted for a while. She said she knew all about me (and the other Etrainers)- Eli told her about us (again- recognizing me from 4 shows this month) and said that the TLG loves that we come to so many shows and he thinks we are awesome. He kept smiling at me because he saw us chatting. She is a really sweet girl. Kurtis was really hoarse and couldn’t hit a lot of the high notes—but they were still really good and got the crowd going.
This is Kurtis sitting on the edge of the stage--

Matts view from under Eli's keyboard-- and Matt is 6'1"

Elliott came on at about 10—he looked and sounded incredible. There was some sound problems and there was some feedback—Sway got up a few times to talk to the sound guy, but then it seemed all was fixed. The guys were all really really happy—like they were in NYC. Aaron and Sway kept waving to us from the stage—it was wild! E had the crowd from the first note. He was totally “ON” that night—perfect. Every song better than the last. It was just unbelievable. In about the middle of the show- he walked over to our side of the stage- spotted Matt, the kids and I- and pointed and gave a little wave. Matt and I just looked at each other—I could’ve died and gone to heaven right then and there. And there was Sway—waving and pointing to us the whole show—I just adore him. He and Aaron even posed for pics DURING the show—haha.

I was happy and sad during the show—it was my last and I had been to so many in such a short time—I knew it would be like going through rehab for me after that night. I had tears in my eyes during Sharin the Night and tears rolling down my face during ASFY—which was incredible by the way. It was all over way too fast.
In NYC- I had to leave early because I had a sitter—but I knew I was NOT leaving early tonight—I just wanted to see E one more time and thank him for being so very sweet and for giving us such amazing performances during the last few months.
We walked into the lobby after the show—and Matt bought t-shirts for the kids and a TLG cd for me. We talked and joked with Josh—it was my 8th time seeing him—3rd time for the kids- and he looks at me, sticks out his hand and says “Hi, my name is Josh—and yours? Did you enjoy the show?” I was like—nice to meet you—my name is Robyn—I heard that this singer was opening for Elliott—didn’t know they got a comedian instead—and we both laughed. He is just too cute. On a serious note—my husband and I both think he is an incredible singer and songwriter—he knows this as we have told him countless times—and I told him I think this is going to be his time—that we are behind him and supporting him 100%- that we would come see him perform whenever he comes back to the area—with or without E- and to hurry up and put the CD out already!! He must have hugged me 10 times and shaken Matts hand about a dozen times. A rep from Geico was there and took a Polaroid of the whole family and Josh.
Funny thing—we were by the merch tables talking to him—and Jax (6 years old) was taking free Geico things and free TLG stickers—and Josh starts laughing and says to him here—take these I think they are free also -and starts stuffing TLG t-shirts—like 30 of them—into Jax’s jacket making it very obvious to the TLG street team. The TLG street team people behind the merch table were in shock. Josh of course, told Jax he made a mistake—they weren’t free—then signed a Geico gecko face thing for Jax and gave it to him. It was pretty funny the way he did it – he is such a jokester. I can only imagine the fun they have behind the scenes.

I also spoke to Trey and told him that we had hung out with his parents in NYC. He knew this and said his parents had a great time with us. It is so sweet—his parents are so proud of him—and he is such a nice guy—I love the way he laughs at Josh’s jokes even though he has heard them dozens of times. He hugged us goodbye as well and thanked us for all the support and also for keeping his parents company in NY and making them feel so included.
We then saw Aaron and Russell—took some pics and got some hugs- then went out to wait by the bus with about 15 other people. Again—I just had to try to see E one more time—I just didn’t want to leave.
While we were waiting—Glen stopped to talk for a few minutes and signed Tylers shirt. I thanked him for an unbelievable show and told him we had a great time.

robyns - November 26, 2007 03:36 PM (GMT)
Sway then came over and hung out with us—we talked for about 20 minutes. I asked about when his CD was coming out, told him how glad I was that he was on the tour—I really think he rounds things out and I LOVE his voice. I loved his voice on the show. We talked music—we like the exact same things- Stevie Wonder, Luther, Teddy Pendergrass etc. It was literally only him and I talking to each other this whole time.

I made it a point to tell him how E, Josh and all of the guys had indirectly been a part of Etrainers all over the country forming close friendships. I told him how because of my going to so many shows and hanging out with E-trainers—how this group of very special women (you know who you are) and I had really clicked—and I know I now have made new lifelong friends. You could tell he was surprised and shocked by this—how we didn’t know each other before all of this wonderful craziness started—and how we are now so close. It warmed his heart—he was really thrilled to hear this. He asked me to please e-mail him on his My Space and to keep in touch—he was so grateful for all the support—he said he reads all of his messages.
Sway and I talked for some more—Matt was talking to John -and we talked a lot about Idol and his time after Idol. He and Elliott always kept in touch after the show. It was a true pleasure talking to and hanging out with Sway—he is a special guy with a heart of gold as big as E’s. And so adorable you just want to hug him.
Then Elliott came out—came straight to me and gave me a big hug—WOW!! He hugged and high 5’d and chatted with the kids- shook Matt’s hand—I thanked him for a great time and for being so sweet and kind to us— and that the last 6 months had been amazing—and I don’t even know what else I said. He makes you feel like the only person in the world when he speaks to you as always. Matt went to take a pic of me and Elliott and my CAMERA DIED—ugh. A guy from Geico who was there for Josh took the pic and will e-mail it to me. That last part was all a big huge blur for me- I know I did get another hug and I told him to have fun and good luck on the rest of the tour—but I just remember thinking—wow—what a way to go out on a high note. A few more hugs for Sway-- another thank you to John- and it was time to go.
I sit here today deliriously happy and incredibly sad—I know it’s over for now—but I am thankful beyond belief that I got the chance to meet Elliott, Josh, the guys so many times and of course for all of my wonderful new friends. I love you guys—all of you. Being at all of these shows and having these wonderful experiences and especially making all of these wonderful new friends has given me back much of the joy that everyday life sometimes sucks out of you. :grouphug:
Elliott—thank you for giving so much of yourself.. You are truly an angel—and it is an honor to call myself a fan. Like your mom once said—the voice is a given (and what a voice it is!)- but you have a truly good heart as well. I wish you only the best things life has to offer and of course I am thrilled for your success.
And a big thank you also to Josh, Sway, Aaron, Russell, Joonie, Ollie, Trey, John, TLG and the crew—you guys couldn’t have been nicer. It has truly been a pleasure.
:grouphug:
And of course—a huge thanks and all my love to Matt and the kids for putting up with my obsession and craziness (and even joining in) for the last 6 months—and letting me be a 43 year old groupie for just a little while—I’ve had the time of my life but I’m back now.. at least…….
Till the next tour……
robyn
PS- I will be putting my pics up soon. :1word:

What a great recap, Robyn! So glad you and the family had a lot of fun. I can just imagine the intensity of the dagger looks thrown at you by all the "envious" others. I probably would have been one of them if I were there. LOL
I also envy how your whole, beautiful family is into E. Wow. :)

Thanks for all the nice thoughts guys-- I am still on a high from the last 6 months-- I first saw him (not couonting the Idol tour) in May'07.
I have met the most amazing people in the last 6 months--it's been like a dream and a very happy part of my life.
My kids love Elliot, Josh's (and now TLG's) music because that is ALL I listen to--in the car, in the house, at the beach-- always. My 6 year old will say to me when we get in the car-- "put on Josh--my favorite song (Take It Or Leave It). How many 6 year olds can actually say they listen to Josh Hoge?
I think it's all in the training-- LOL
Have a great day everyone
