Title: Wait For One Word
imthesame - December 1, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
This morning I got in a request for One Word - the DJ said sure and now I'm listening to it - oh wait, its Wait for You. I was clear, I even wrote down what I would say so I wouldn't goof up. The DJ's hear Elliott and think, Wait for You. What can we do? I thought this was happening. Everytime I get a request through I hear Wait for You. Love the song, love hearing Elliott, but when will they get it, new single, One Word (I said new single)? I know that WNCI is allowed to play One Word - come on Ohio people, help me - they will finally understand.

Okay, so I called back and called him by name. I was cheerfully pushy and thanked him for played Wait for You and requested the NEW single - he said he didn't know if they had it, but he'd look around. I said I heard that it had played overnight and thanked him again. He at least understands now.

Saturday morning is a good time to call - the teenagers are just waking up so playing it now would be good timing. I got the call in before the lines got too busy and I'm praying for a play. I'm so stoked that I better go take something.

Yes.com is acting up again, it stopped showing spins at 8:05 AM - I can't report any OW spins.

Can this be moved? I'm sorry I posted it in the wrong place.

Just a note about DJs and requesting:
Some of the DJs *can't* play your request. They're not allowed to because all the music is carefully pre-planned and selected by the program and music directors. So it's likely that they were going to play WFY anyway there.
BUT . . . the requests still matter because they are required to tally the total number of requests and report them back to the PD. If you can call and say, "I heard 'One Word' the other night. Can you play that one this morning?", it WILL help down the road, even though they probably won't play the request.
So basically, at WNCI, we're requesting there in order to convince the PD to shift him into daytime rotation. Of course, don't let on that you know any of this--it's best to act like a listener who has heard the song on the station and wants to hear it again.

Okay - I always just sound like a listener - Probably since last May or June (for WFY and now OW) I have gotten in about 8-10 actual requests (the line is so often busy). I've called all different days and times so I don't think I'm bothering them too much. I've text messaged some too.

Sounds good. It's actually better to spread out requests. As long as we aim to increase requests week to week in reasonable increments, we'll be helping him out.
Have you or anyone else been able to get through in the late shift? That's an important one since he's getting played then.
