After MUCH calling to WNCI...I FINALLY got through to Dave of the Morning Zoo!! Our conversation was ON THE AIR!!!! They played Jordins' single 'Tatoo', then Dave came on the air & said here we go, an Idol sweep & they played Daughtrys' "Over You". WELL! I HAD to call in to tell them an Idol sweep wasn't complete without some Elliott Yamin & I wanted to hear "One Word". Well, while I was waiting for someone to answer the phone, WFY came on! :awe: THEN, Dave answers the phone. So, I told him I was calling to rag him about saying an Idol sweep, playing Jordin, then Daughtry but I wanted to hear Elliott Yamin. But since WFY was playing, I had to eat my words. I then told him I still wanted to hear 'One Word' by Elliott Yamin. Dave replied, 'OH! The new one from Elliott?" I said YES! He then proceeded to say I needed to feed them to get them to play it...pizzas or pasta were acceptable. I laughed & said, "Ya'll are gonna make me drive all the way up there & feed you just to hear One Word aren't ya?" Dave laughed & said No, but he did love my passion! :awe:

Although OW wasn't played, my request for it WAS! AND on the BIGGEST radio morning show in the state!! Hopefully this will make more listeners aware of Elliotts' new single!! :fangirly:

I didn't hear it, because I've been streaming WZKL (am an expat Ohioan, and in DC nobody at all is playing One Word yet...) and trying to get something other than busy signals there. Umpteen calls. Three connects. They keep saying --"We'll get that on for you." But they aren't really moving on the song. Makes me wonder whether nobody's calling.

Anyway, congratulations! You've done a great deed -- plugging One Word on the air! Not as good as actually getting it *played* on the air, but, as I keep telling myself, we really hvae no control over that. Just have to keep asking. Keep asking. Keep asking. ... And now they want us to bribe them!

He was joking appleasauce, they are funny & love to tease/joke around. Basically it is on the head of the Program Director to add the song. At least that is my intepretation, as after our convo was aired, Dave & Jimmy started discussing how the Program Director used to be bribed often to play songs& now fans' have slacked off. They are joking about the bribes, but basically saying, without actually saying it, that the PD gives the go ahead to a song. I will keep asking for it though!! ;)

This is so great, RM. I made myself clear that I wanted to new single, One Word, to Matt the DJ the other day (Saturday morning) and he said he'd check into it, but having you call too is great. Today when I was going to work I walked past the Nationwide Arena where they say they broadcast from and I almost went in. I was afraid that I'd be too old for their demographic having pizza delivered is better. I only work near there on Tuesdays. I go different places different days helping in legal libraries. Do you have texting on your cell? Should we try the top 5 text songs with Maxwell some weekday evening. I've tried, but so far no play. I think we might be getting close though because with both of us requesting and hopefully OG requesting we might get them to play One Word.

great job RM! I hope Elliott sees your post - he'd be tickled and thrilled to get that kind of unplanned exposure.

I just got a request in with Maxwell - he said to give him a few minutes, so I'm listening (perpetual optimist). I'll let you know if I hear One Word. It would be so exciting to have things start happening - oh well, I'm just spoiled.

I waited for about 20 minutes and Maxwell played Wait for You. Was it a mistake, did he hear me wrong or are they being told to do that at the station if anyone asks for One Word. I think somebody important might need to do something. Hey, while I'm listening tho I decided that it is a great song, that Elliott guy can really sing.

I still get a thrill to hear Wait for You on the radio. Elliott sounds absolutely spectacular.

Yeah, and PoorMe, I can tell you One Word and his holiday songs sound great on radio too so keep requesting until you hear them! I'm lucky enough to live close enough to Richmond but want to hear him with better radio reception so......get with the program, Fredericksburg and D.C.! I requested One Word and don't tell me you can't find it! You resisted on WFY forever and eventually played the f*** out of it so I don't buy you with this BS regarding Elliott's new single. You play Daughtry's songs ad nauseum. I WANT TO HEAR MORE ELLIOTT YAMIN. This is BS!!! And Richmond...the radio stations there have shown great support but I know there is more we can all do to get him played outside Richmond.

So he's not featured on the front of itunes? We do what we can to get him on that top songs list where people go to browse and listen and stream and vote on VH1 and put songs on MySpaces (those that have them) and embed his live performances on Youtube in our e-mails and cd's in our Christmas stockings or whatever. I still wonder if the big labels and especially AI aren't trying to shut him up to discourage others from bypassing their handpicked artists. And they probably know his fans have become a little complacent and don't have the same excitement over a song they have been listening to for months even if it is better than the first single. Well they ain't gonna take the sound of Elliott's voice off my radio--hell no!!!!! And if you ask me it is total BS he had a smash hit and then follows it up with another good song and they don't even test it out when people request it. I'd buy it if OW wasn't good or if his voice wasn't up to par but I ain't buying it for one minute--because I've always been of the opinion OW was better than WFY. Maybe they never wanted to play WFY and planned on giving him the old Taylor Hicks treatment and then...it got away from them and nobody knew who he was and thought he was Usher and so...there you go....and they are trying to shut the barn door now after the horse got out.

But he's the little indie label that could hang with the big guns. I'm proud of him for being good enough to make it without them and sounds like he isn't afraid to take on Congress about diabetes either! I noticed Pictures of You in the top 100 downloaded songs on itunes tonight....WTF....nothing against TLG but come on....One Word should be on that list--would help if it was getting significant airplay and released as a single on itunes with fanfare--but seriously E-Train, we can help push this single to at least get it out there the way we did WFY and it should take care of itself after that. Hopefully VH1 will help get the snowball rolling. I know it's a hassle to have to do this again and hound radio at every turn when they should be putting him on automatically....but I'm not letting the record labels or radio stations do this to Elliott or us.

I know it's the big label thing....sometimes wonder if I wandered into a horrible alternate universe where really great sounding music can't get play and Nickelback keeps outselling everybody....it just ain't right.

mmm, I feel so much of what you are saying. I am angry and sad. I know in the mediabase thread, we were talking about trying to detach ourselves a bit, etc....but I don't find that easy to do. Especially when I think things feel so unfair. I just want the world for him.

I wonder if we could rev up the fans on the myspace. I know some people, including me, have been posting there that if people want to hear Elliott on the radio, they really need to request. But, come on, there are over 140,000 people listed there. If half of them made one request each, it's hard to see how radio could totally ignore it.

I have been posting at E's myspace since day one, at first for WFY and now for OW

This is the thing....remember the gargantuan battle it was finally getting WFY radio play in some markets? It took months just to get from LA to NY. NY DJ's at first gave the fans a tough time when they called in and then eventually the song was #1. It took TX and Chicago forever too. Are they going to hold out like this for every song of his because he's an indie or came from Idol? What was it that finally made stations crack on WFY? Did they become islands forced to go with the flow of what their own listeners wanted (for once)? When my HAC first added it and I called in they took my request with an attitude about him being from AI but then they also got so many subsequent requests in a month they were playing it like crazy. I'm grateful he was able to get through like this with his amazing voice on a song that for whatever reason (still say it was his voice that made the song work) struck a chord but also feel he should have had a rightful #1 pop hit and that OW could also be a followup major hit and bring in revenue for stations. There is no excuse on the part of radio for not giving OW a fair shot to see what it will do. And I'm going to keep on requesting the hell out of it.

A few of us should post to vote on Vh 1 on E's myspace page to vote and request E's One Word.. being E is an indie he needs help from his fans.

I have been posting on E's youtube WFY song on the comments page to Vote and listen to his new video on AOL.. we have to use these forums to spread the word to E fans whereever they go . Thousands are on youtube and Myspace . We just have to remember all of these things to do daily..lots to do!!
