Elliott's contribution to Target's Sounds of the Season series jumps 170-79, selling 13,000, up about 83% for a total of 23,000. That's 79 on the BB chart folks. (from Idol Chatter)

Secular album holds steady also (from Ken):
"Elliott's secular album (I used to know a guy named Elliott Sekuler, apropos of absolutely nothing) sold about 5,000, same as last week, and hit the 450,000 mark"
Maybe with a little promo, Elliott would have even sold more Xmas albums. Wake up NBC. :elliottski:

great news; thanks, Jamie!
Yaminilita - December 5, 2007 07:06 PM (GMT)
This is fantastic, and all from just one retailer. His songs are getting increased airplay, so he should continue to see great sales. So happy for Elliott.
jamie50 - December 5, 2007 07:08 PM (GMT)
Maybe when they see the charts, they'll get off the butts and put him on someTV Xmas shows. This is great for a guy getting no special promo.

jogr - December 5, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
Kellie was at No. 187, selling 5,300.
Elliott was not on the chart with about 5,000 - but he must have been really close having sold only 300 copies less than her.

Oh, I'm sure of it. If he had been on the Rockefeller Center special, for instance...
But anyway, this is awesome! He jumped almost a hundred spots with an album that's only sold at one chain of stores! And this is his SECOND album to crack the Billboard top 100 this year! With people buying gifts and noticing how cheap this CD is (it's still cheap, isn't it?), he's bound to sell a lot more in the next few weeks. :tisdseason:
ETA: Oh yeah, and the radio play of his Xmas songs should help a lot too! Actually, just today I heard WFY on 104.5 WXLO, and the DJ said, "That's our buddy Elliott Yamin, a friend of the station. His Christmas CD is terrific, by the way." I was so excited! That's free publicity! This is the same station on which they played TC and TCS back-to-back and compared him to Stevie Wonder. See, Elliott is so smart to do radio tours and make friends at the stations!
Jarvs - December 5, 2007 07:27 PM (GMT)
Cool. Really great news. Maybe your christmas gifts to us Yaminoys really helped a lot. :D Thanks again for all those CD's you have given us. :)

I found KT Tunstall on BB also:
"#189, it's KT Tunstall's Sounds of the Season, which benefited from a 126-percent sales surge" She probably sold around 6K.
She's at 189, E at 79. I wonder where Taylor Swift is.
Anyway, BB has a holiday chart and Elliott was #50 last week. He'll be up quite up abit this week.
musicmovesme - December 5, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
Ha! Way to go forth and conquer, Elliott! If you think about it the only time we still hear many legendary singers from the past is during the holidays so Elliott was wise to record this for posterity.

UPDATED. According to Jamie50, Taylor Swift's Sounds Of The Season CD came in at #46 on the Billboard 200.
That means so far as far as the Sounds of the Season collection sales goes:
#46: Taylor Swift - Rockefeller Center appearance
#79: Elliott Yamin - no TV appearances
#189: KT Kunstall - Today show
Not too shabby. And with the increasing radio play that's been happening, I think E's CD will go even higher.

I think that's last week's ranking, Movin'.

And I just checked my local Target - they had only 1 Elliott holiday CD, with many, many KT and Taylor Swift available - and zero "secular" - since they were on sale this week, and apparently have sold out of their several assigned slots.

Well, "Great!" and "Grrrrrrrrr" at the same time.
I suppose they ordered a ton more of Ms. Swifty's cd to begin with.
But I hope they see now that they should have ordered more of Elliott's too.

jamie50 - December 5, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
I found Taylor Swift. She's 46 on the BB chart and total sales for her Xmas CD are 39K. So with all her exposure, she's only about 25K ahead of E. She's #11 on the BB Holiday Chart and E is #18. Not too shabby.

This area is insane, backups for 20 miles and tons of accidents because of an inch or two of snow.
If this was something rare, I'd understand but we average close to 20" a winter. Everyone should be used to this by now.
mel0207 - December 5, 2007 10:13 PM (GMT)
Yay!!! This is great news!
Was doing errands yesterday and heard Carrie's Do You Hear What I Hear, and right after that was Elliott's TC. :)
A re-release of the CD next year with a few more tracks thrown in would be cool. :)
I hope they have enough CDs to last well into December...he can't sell more if there arn't more available....
mel0207 - December 5, 2007 10:22 PM (GMT)
wow when I look at the list of the top Christmas albums, there are at least 6 artists/groups that have been around a LONG time...taking that into consideration, as well as the fact that the CD is only available through Target, and the fact that he has had no TV exposure to support the CD...well, he's doing fabulous.....go E!!!!

yes, and only 5 of the top 20 have sold over 100K...most have modest numbers.
I actually pegged the CD to sell around 25K-30K in total...looks like I may have to
up my estimate. :-)

I'm praying you have to do just that og :) I'm not going to wager an estimate, but I do believe the CD will continue to do well, I wouldn't expect anything less since it is his talent that is selling the album...when people hear him, they will want MORE. I'm hoping for an increase in play of Warm Me Up, and Merry Christmas, Baby - my 2 favorites.
This news is very uplifting, Elliott must be very proud. He done good y'all. :elliottcap:

And hearing Elliott singing Holiday songs will wake more people up to the great voice of Elliott Yamin! So glad Elliott has a single and some Christmas tunes that can be heard over the air... more exposure!!

ALL I KNOW IS...I have been to 4 different Targets here in Northern VA in the past 2 weeks and they are all SOLD OUT of Elliott's CD. I was planning on giving them out as office presents, but the people at Target say they don't know when they will get them. The racks of Taylor Swift and KT Tunstall were full though. I really really hope they release more copies!

Maybe we need to start another program like we had to get the CD out to those outside the country. I hate to think that folks in Virginia are not able to purchase the CD for gifts when the rest of the country has shelves full. Should we start a buddy program to help here?

In my Target, Josh Grobin's Christmas CD is front and center...you have to search way around back to even find E's...he's doing awesome especially given the marketing limitations...just wow!
